No One Expects the Sith Inquisition

Event Type: Mandatory
Participants: All Students
Timeslots: Mid Morning

Reputation Affected: No
Description: The Ministry of Cultural Affairs under the direction of Darth Xavin has enlisted students to track down possible dissidents in Korriban space and expose them. Inquisitor Vel has identified several targets to be watched, as a test of the students loyalty he commands them to find these targets and see what they know.

  • Find the Suspect: This requires an Average Perception (Cunning) check with 1 setback die due to the crowds on the station. Failing this roll means you have lost your target and can choose to find a new target, just outright lie, or give up and admit the truth.
  • Successful Target Acquisition: If you have the right target you can choose one of the following skills to reveal the target and gather information;
Stealth (Agility) with Average difficulty to tail the suspect, Charm (Presence) with Average Difficulty to engage in friendly conversation, Coercion (Willpower) at Average difficulty to force them to talk through Intimidation or Influence if you have Control to simply force them to confess through fear.
  • You look like a Dissident: If you failed the Perception roll you can simply just pick a new target at random and force them to "confess". Forcing such a confession requires either the use of Influence as above, Coercion (Willpower) to browbeat them, Deception (Cunning) to lie and confuse the subject, or Brawl (Brawn) to simply beat them into submission.
  • I tell no Lies: If you failed the Perception roll, or simply choose to lie, you can try and lie to the Inquisitor and bypass finding a "dissident", roll Deception (Cunning) versus 2 Challenge dice and 2 Difficulty dice with a Setback die. If this route is taken and successful the student gains 1 Graduation point at their impressive ability to lie. Despair on this roll reduces their Reputation by 1, even if the roll is successful.

Rewards: If you successfully get a Dissident by completing Successful Target Acquisition or You look like a Dissident you get 1 Reputation. If you complete I tell no Lies you gain Reputation and get a Graduation point.

Destiny Used: Khalim Tsaikzu, Jun-Tsu Farro, Baesal Zyn, and Nunki Malyna have one roll of their choice upgraded.

Post subject:  Re: [Day 3 - MM] No One Expects the Sith Inquisition - Event

Zeno begins attempting to track the dissident assigned, but the man loses him in the crowd. When he finds someone who looks close enough to him, the sith-blood attempts to force him to confess to something he did not do, the man flees and Zeno loses that one too. It was not Zeno's morning, and he was apparently not very good at this type of work.

Perception 0 successes, 2 advantage
Coercion 1 failure

OOC: Nothing. Also rolled with boost even though I should not have, but failed anyway.

Sylvain arrived at the station and began looking around for someone that had been listed on the possible suspects list. The bustling and disruptive crowd made it difficult to find anyone specific.

Catching something of an unusual exchange out of the corner of his eye, Sylvain approached a young girl and smiled deceptively to engage her in a bit of entrapment. It wasn't long before Sylvain was able to trip her up in her words and find exactly the type of suspect that Xavin was looking for.

Finally something Moyr could prove her mettle in. Starting pursuit on Vel's cue, she never left the culprit off her sight. She could engage in this or that kind of clever conversation but she chose to not deal with the target directly and simply tailed him and ultimately forced him into full exposure. Quiet efficiency.

Kristal was set upon a known dissident like a hound dog. Pure ability sent after some of the Empire's lowliest scum. Sifting through the crowds with ease the young aspirant hunter her pray. It was something about their equipment that became her tell. Something was simply off about them, they were far too aware of their surroundings. This one looked like a hunted dog even before Kristal was on his scent.

Catching him, getting him to confess to his crimes wasn't very difficult. Kristal's image was enough. They had been watching the news, they saw what this woman was capable of if she was given the reason to. There was apparently some use to publicity after all. Kristal's already intimidating demeanor when she wanted it surely helped itself as well.

Kristal Serasai got her man.

Post subject:  Re: [Day 3 - MM] No One Expects the Sith Inquisition - Event

Listen to the ministry representative, Jun-Tsu could only shake her head and draw her lips into a line of irritation. Her skills, her training, the teachings of centuries passed down from Farro to Farro, and now she was a bloodhound for this weakling. She was a dog. It chafed at her, but she complied offering a baleful look back at the Inquisitor.

Silently she stalked Korriban Station, her pristine black robes making a soft hissing as her shoes made a gentle click on the metal plating of the station's observation deck. She watched the crush of people pass spying a young man who did not so much seem out of place as waiting for someone, but more than that there was sense at the back of Jun-Tsu's mind that this man was the one she sought.

Perception (Cunning) - 1eP+1eA+1eC+1eD = 1 success, 1 threats, 1 Triumph (Keen Eyed removes setback die)
ImageImageImageImage

She approached, with her usual air of cool detatchment, canting her head to the side as though looking at an intriguing insect. Her silver eyes bored into the young man, who looked back with no small amount of sudden apprehension.

"H-H-Hello?" He stammered taking a step back.

"You......you are zhe v'one. You are zhe dissident." Her lips curled into a cruel smile.

"N-N-No I'm not!" He protested swiftly, looking around to see if anyone had heard her words. Few had, but those that did began to cast sideways glances.

"Do not lie," her tone was frigid.

"I can zee it, plain az your face," her eyes shifted an eerie green and she advanced upon him, touching a hand to his brow, as though fussing with his hair. "It iz all in here. All zhe lies, all zhe deception. Your....dizloyalty." She looked him straight in the eye, her own practically aglow in their witchfire.

Coercion (Willpower) - 3eA+2eD+1eB = 4 successes, 1 threat
ImageImageImageImageImageImage

The young man broke before the sith sorceress, as she knew he would. Cowed by his own pathetic fear. He fell to his knees, "Please, I didn't mean to! I was forced to help!"

She just looked at him with pity and disgust, "Come ivh me und ve shall zee."

Gerald loved the Empire; it was the most important thing in his life besides his family. Any attack on it was an attack on him and he did his patriotic duty. He found his prey with ease and then approached and spoke with the woman clearly. He was charming and straightforward and ultimately he revealed her duplicity by appealing to her sense of patriotism. She realized she had betrayed her people, her friends and she turned herself in.

Xevine's instincts went into overdrive, as she started hunting for dissidents. It wasn't subtle, but the crowd parted before her as she rounded onto a suspect. She was soon bearing on him, standing inches away from his face. "Will. You. Confess?" Her tone was even, though it was obvious she was very close to pummeling the man into the ground. The dissident meekly complied.

Jo'ren was not that interested in this sort of spy work but he did his best to follow orders. Unfortunately he was unable to follow the target due to the crowds.

Having failed this part he let his rage get the better of him and grabbed a suspicious looking alien off the street. It was easy enough to beat him up, but the guy just wouldn't confess. Eventually he let him go and returned empty-handed.

Niriti walked the trail of her suspect. Her mind was focused and so was her will. She never lost sight of it despite the crowd that surrounded her. Instead they would move away of the path of the woman as she walked the streets after the dissident. She reached him with no trouble at all, pinning him down against one of the walls of a cantina. She pushed him against the wall, and despite her weak looks, her eyes pierced the man and his soul, making him wither and fall in an instant.

It was slightly disturbing how similar this was to the early parts of her childhood. Finding targets and making sure their freedom woudl be a thing of the past. It had never exactly been easy for her back then; in practice or in thought; and wasn't now... but she managed it somehow. Picking out the target from the crowd. She cared nothing for his dissidence. Nothing for the empire that felt slighted. But she also cared nothing for him, or his future.

It didn't take much to convince him of that fact. And just slightly more to confess. She didn't even have to beat him up; or frame someone else. This was altogether too easy.

How am I supposed to know if somebody's a dissident by looking at them?
Well, I'm sure that's easy enough for somebody who's lived in the Empire their whole life, but for Nunki? Well, she'd have a better chance lying. And that's just what she did, found a suspicious looking individual, watched him for some time, and came up with a fairly convincing story...
That is, until she told it to the Inquisitor, and he laughed in her face. Still, she learned a valuable lesson today.

I need to step my game up.

Post subject:  Re: [Day 3 - MM] No One Expects the Sith Inquisition - Event

Khalim walks through the crowds looking for any of the faces mentioned by the Inquisitor, and completely fails to find anyone matching those descriptions.

This is a complete damned waste of my time and my talents. But I'll be damned if I'm going back empty handed.

He spots a rather "suspicious" looking alien where he doesn't belong, which in this case happens to be "buying groceries for his family" -- as if sub species aliens were capable of having families --, and he tails him for a while to see what other suspicious activities he might be up to. A stop at the paste vendor -- interesting, perhaps he's feeding a Republic cell. A stop to get his hair done -- clearly looking to disguise himself and evade observation. A stop to sell a couple mechanical bits that he brought with him -- that vendor is probably exchanging intel with him...

After seeing all his suspicious stops, Khalim steps forward when the alien is heading down a section of empty street.

"You! Halt! Admit to your crimes this instant, and perhaps you will receive mercy from the Sith Inquisitors."

"...wha-what? What do you mean? ...my Lord?"

"You are clearly working for the Republic. I have been watching you this morning, and your activities show your allegiance. Now confess!"

"...I-I...I didn't do anything!"

"You dare question the sith? Confess and make it easier for yourself, and perhaps survive to be of use to the Empire, or should I simply cut you down here and now as the traitorous filth that you are?"

As Khalim reaches for the saber at his belt, the alien finally relents out of fear for his immediate safety, "I...I confess! Whatever it is, just don't kill me!"

Grenda looked at the holo of her target and embraced the Dark Side. Energy flowed through her . . . but not enough to locate the wily dissident. Back to more mundane means which, fortunately, she was an expert at. Her snivelling human traitor was easily found despite a small altercation with a Wookie slave she managed to bump into. One does not simply bump into Wookies and she had a bruise to show for it.

The dissident's arrogance was such that he didn't even try to properly conceal his actions, or so it seemed to the almost invisible Rodian who followed silently and recorded everything he did. More than enough to condemn him and possibly a few of his so called 'friends'. A few hours useful work for the Rodian, just doing what Rodians do.

Rumun tracked some leads to a possible republican spy that was operating in Korriban. It was a difficult task with the thousands upon thousands of people walking around in the Station. Althought he did have some leads, for some reason his suspected spy, never appeared. Perhaps he was warned before hand.

Facing another failure, Rumun tried to randomly choose another one to blame. He pick up a stange looking guy who was acting nervously. He tried using his willpower to break the man's will and confess of his 'crimes'.

It did't work. As the man, run away, insulting Rumun about his alien and offworlder background.

Another failure to his account.

Sarna raises an eyebrow at the briefing for their task, but shows no other reaction.

Amid the crowds on the station, she catches one good glimpse of her target--before bumping into a nondescript-looking Zabrak male. He lightly growls at her in reaction, but starts to turn away as Sarna realizes her target is completely lost in the masses. She hesitates for half of a heartbeat before rounding on the Zabrak in a rage that seems impossible for the otherwise quiet Mirialan.

Shaisha easily spotted suspicious people. Her time spent in the seedier parts of Kaas City with Syl and Kris had made her excellent at spotting potential trouble.

As she observed the suspect, she pondered the best course of action. Sure, she could just overpower the guy with her superior will and hand him in to the Inquisition in a nice package, but the past days on Korriban had reminded her that Sith don't always play by the rules.

If she was going to get to where she wanted to be, she needed to bend the rules a little more.

Sadly, the Inquisitor didn't buy her elaborate accusation against the suspect, though it did have enough merit that the suspect ended up facing a round of intensive interrogation off-screen anyway.
