All he could think about on the shuttle ride up was whether this was going to be good news or bad news. He seemed to be the only student on this flight, so it was just about him whatever happened. The time passed slowly but eventually he set foot on the deck of the private hanger bay.

His lightsaber was clipped to his belt, and he remembered to go and buy a nice cloak while he was here to go with the impressive Sith armour.

Putting all other thoughts aside he awaited the arrival of the man who had 'asked' for his presence. Or instructions on where to go next.

(OOC: Destiny spent. Thread is effectively closed I suspect)

The shuttle docks in a private hangar with several guards around. The door and ramp opens and there are three people speaking; Lord Baras, Darth Vengean and an Imperial Military office an Admiral.

Be very careful...

Jo'ren walked confidently down the ramp, towering over the guards, and pretty much everyone except Darth Vengen. Approaching the group he bowed and took up a balanced stance, choosing not to interrupt the conversation until addressed. Anything else would have been redundant. He had been summoned, he was here.

His eyes washed over the Admiral, and his attention took in the conversation the three were having.

The Admiral says, “My forces are prepared my Lord, it will be an honor so serve.”

Lord Baras says, “The boy is no fool, I tested him. Clever though irrelevant.”

“Kill him if he proves to be more than clever,” Vengean says turning his gaze to Baras.

Baras looks at Jo’ren and then back to Vengean, “As you decree, my agents are in position on Dromund Kaas. The transition of power should be seamless.”

Vengean nods and adds, “Finish this affair with the woman, you have strung it out too far Baras. Now leave me, both of you.”

“Jo’ren, what do you see?” Vengean says as he walks to the translucent barrier dividing the hangar from the vacuum of space. This gives a lovely view of Korriban.

He watched the others walk away and followed Vengean to the edge of the hanger. The planet's surface seemed less hostile from up here. It was an interesting question. He pondered it a moment and then answered.

"I see a fine line between life and death, my Lord. And I see the past."

“I see a dusty world revered by old fools for things that have no bearing on the War. It is a relic,” he says dismissively.

"As you say my Lord, though relics occasionally have use. My imminent graduation to the ranks of the Sith, for example." He turned slightly to look at the huge human-cyborg. "How goes the war?"

“Not as quickly as the Dark Council wishes it to be.”

“So you believe you are ready to be Sith?” Vengean says.

"I do my Lord." He nodded. "There is always more to learn, but I believe I am ready to rise to that next challenge."

“This is Akir Hul,” he gestures to a door that opens and a woman enters a red skinned zabrak in a hooded robe.

“She believes she is also ready. I only need one of you.”

Akir draws her lightsaber and says, “I am destined to be Sith.”

Well that was unexpected, but oh so very Sith. Jo'ren draws his lightsaber and looks at the Zabrak as he ignites both ends. "We shall see."

(OOC: Vigilance for Initiative?)

Akir starts to circle Jo’ren assessing her opponent.

OOC: Jo'ren, Akir; they are basically at engaged. Akir has Adversary 1, upgrades the Difficulty and Melee Defense 1.

The Red Menace did not waste any time. He struck clean through the Sith's defense with a strong blow that would cause her to struggle to regain ground against him for the rest of the fight. There was still a long way to go however, so he took up a defensive posture to be ready for her response.

Action: Attack
Maneuver: Take a Defensive stance

Day 4. Attacking Akir. Lightsaber(Brawn). 1 upgrade, 1 setback, 1 destiny to upgrade: 1eA+3eP+1eC+1eD+1eS 3 successes, 1 advantage
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Jo'ren's lightsaber attack deals 9 damage (Breach).

Critical injury: 65, Slightly Dazed: The target is disoriented until the end of the encounter.

(OOC: Apologies if I got any of that wrong!)

Jo'ren
0 strain
0 wounds
2 defense (effectively 3 due to disorient)

Akir grits her teeth as she spins her lightsaber to deflect the strike, being far less grievous than it could be. She does not strike back as she focuses on Jo’ren and takes up a defensive posture as she circles him.

OOC: She commits a Force to activate Sense, upgrades 1 attack per round. She uses 2 strain to Parry for 5 and takes 4 wounds and a critical injury. Adversary 1, Melee Defense 2 due to Guarded Stance maneuver and Sense to upgrade another difficulty. Spending Destiny to upgrade the difficulty in this case since all dice are upgraded it increases the difficulty by 1.

As Akir touched the Force she immediately became aware of the fact that Jo'ren was about to hit her again. He was whirling death, he was a blur of motion, cutting through ehr impressive defenses as if they were nothing.

This time he hit her so hard it knocked the air out of her lungs. His expression was steely, and filled with grim determination.

Jo'ren's lightsaber deals 9 damage (Breach).

Critical injury: 84, Winded: Until the end of the encounter, the target cannot voluntarily suffer strain to activate any abilities or gain additional maneuvers. (I think this means she can't Parry now? :? )

Akir raises her blade but can’t find the strength to do so and is struck down by Jo’ren with ease. She clutches her wound and looks to Vengean and then back to Jo’ren. She has no strength to move.

Vengean says, “What do we do with things that have used up their usefulness, Jo’ren.”

"We do as the force wills my Lord, and return them to it."

He looked down at the Zabrak he had so easily defeated.

"In your own words, I take no pleasure in this."

Unless stopped by Vengean Jo'ren finishes Akir with a strike that kills her instantly.

Baras returns and looks at the woman being finished and says, “No pleasure, acolyte? Do not bury your emotions revel in them.”

Vengean says, “He easily defeated her. She was clearly outclassed.”

Baras nods and adds, “Adding his strength to ours was a wise move, my Master.”

“He must finish the trials but when he does he will be mine. I will unleash him on the galaxy and he will be my sword, just as you once were, Baras,” Vengean says pulling Akir’s lightsaber to his hand.

“What are your ambitions, Jo’ren,” Baras asks.

He deactivated his 'saber blades and returned it to his belt.

"My ambitions? To carve my path through the galaxy and become the greatest warrior of this generation. To master the force and destroy the Jedi. To learn without restrictions and exceed my potential."

He looked from Baras to Vengean and back again.

"Those will serve for now."

“Return to the Academy.”

Jo'ren bowed respectfully to Darth Vengean.

"Yes my Lord."

He turned and walked back toward the shuttle, feeling the force washing through him. His skills were growing, he had defeated the Zabrak easily. Now he had only to ensure that he remained strong and completed the training. Soon he would be Darth Vengean's apprentice, and after that... He could accomplish much with Vengean's backing.
