“Tell me a secret first, something you or your master knows,” she says with a wicked grin.

“A secret for a secret.”

Layne didn't know many secrets. Certainly not any secrets she felt were in her best interest to share. Eventually though, she decided on a personal secret.

"Most people here know I used to be a slave before all this," she said. "But nobody knows I spent most of my childhood helping to capture people to be sold into slavery."

The woman listens and stores away that secret for later. She shrugs and says, “He is very taken with Kristal Serasai, and there I something else but that secret is not worth revealing that.”

"That's hardly something I can use," she said. "What is the nature of the other secret? Depending on what it is, I might reveal something of more value to you in exchange for you telling me the full details."

She just looks at Layne and says nothing.

"Fine," she said. "But this better be worth it."

She tried to make it sound like she was reluctant to give it up.

"Overseer Thaine got a student killed when she tried to have her steal an artifact from the restricted tombs for her. And then lied about it to the headmaster."

“Really Thaine lies to cover her butt? That is so shocking,” she chuckles.

“You are really bad at this, maybe you have no secrets to share. Where did you find the lightsaber, I never did find Hania’s tomb.”

"First. I thought you'd want something you can use against the bitch that thought she could pass guard duty onto you. You know, the guard duty that got you locked up in here. And two. How exactly would you know I found it in Hania's tomb?"

“My sister was the warrior who killed Lord Oshin, I keep tabs on my enemies. She never used it, so just made an ample assumption she left it where she last met him. Where he spent days at time like a weak mewling pup," she says harshly.

“Besides do you think I would be here, if I didn’t plan to be here.”

Well, that was a little surprising.

"And here I was, thinking you were Hania's sister. So, your sister. The one who killed Oshin. She never told you? How very odd."

There was a bit of a cheshire smile on her lips. "But that's ancient history, isn't it? So why *are* you in here?"

“It might be the fact I had her banished for trying to kill me… we had a complicated relationship I suppose by your standards. We even vied for the affections of Lord Oshin, she won out,” she says with a shrug.

“But today, I decided that if I want to reclaim power I need to walk the path of these Sith. I manipulated the right fools, found a good opportunity and there you go.”

"It's more likely they'll kill you. But hey, at least you're trying. I can respect that. I can even help with that. But only if you're going to help me in return. Unless you'd deny the last living descendent of your sister's line like that. Blood's blood, even if it tries to kill you, right?"

“That sounds acceptable.”

“Family should mean something, I suppose. Your friend has a holocron, a Jedi holocron that he has grown especially dependent on. I can only believe that this Jedi holocron will try to sway him away from whatever path he has chosen,” she says.

“Of course proving such a thing may not be easy.”

"And how do you propose we prove it then?"

“Not my problem,” she says honestly.

She sighed.

"Where does he keep this holocron?"

"It was on his person, but that was weeks ago," she says.

"You're going to build yourself a future in this time, right? Now you've got two people who know what you really are, who could get in the way of all that. One's family and doesn't give a shit about any of these people and their empire. The other's the scheming poster boy apprentice for a big Sith Darth who just found himself with a whole lot of power in this empire. Seems to me like you should really want to help me get something to hold over this guy. Maybe help me steal that holocron of his or something along those lines."

"Fine but you include me in future endeavors, partner," she says.

"Alright," she said, "I can do that. Mutual benefit I can do."

"Good," she says.
