Rumun had received a message from the security detail that he should report to Ensign Hines in the evening. They needed to discuss some security irregularities with his terminal. Nothing big but it needed following up, standard procedure. Hines office was not overly large but orderly, with a desk his chair and Imperial propaganda on the walls.

The officer was the model of military professionalism, everything in just the right place.

Today has not been a good day for Rumun. The earlier complete failure at the exams and now certain security irregularities, the day was not getting better. He arrived as soon as he was informed about it. Hopefully this could be done quickly so as to return to his training.

'' Ensing Hines, I presume? '' The tall duros asked as he entered the office. '' I'm aspirant Rumun Gol '' He presented himself. His raspy voice echoing.

Ensign Hines gestured for the alien aspirant to sit and said, “Thank you for coming so quickly, I wanted to get this confusion cleared up as quickly as possible. I know that you probably have a great deal of studying and work to do and don’t want to keep you.”

“I want you to know that you are not in trouble, I am sure it was just a misunderstanding but we have reason to believe that your terminal was used to access controlled information from the Sith archives. It was flagged and removed but accessing them is grounds for termination, I figured you would like to explain this irregularity, aspirant.”

“I have not filed the Security breach yet, if anything I am hoping we can handle this between us.”

Rumun listened to ensign Hines explanation. The duros crossed his arms in a thoughtful way.

'' Hmmm, odd. '' He said calmly. '' When did this access took place? Do you have the register of the log? '' the Duros asked politely.

'' I don't think that I have accessed controlled information. Either it could be a mistake or someone has accessed my terminal without my permission. We must be sure '' He said.

Perhaps information about the Tuk'ata is considered banned for aspirants? He thought

“The access took place at 1752 hours, from your terminal.”

Ensign Hines was a model of professionalism and said, “I am sure this is of no fault of your own it is common for students to play these kinds of pranks. But I will have to detain for you a few days until we finish the investigation. It means you will miss a few classes but we have to be sure.”

He sighed, “I mean my hands are tied, I want to make this go away but procedures are procedure. I tell you what, I can probably let this go but someone has to be punished.”

A soldier comes in and puts a datapad on his desk and he smiled. The soldier exited.

“You mind doing a little sidework for me, and we can call it even? The alternative is being sequestered until the investigation is complete.”

A sincere smile formed on Rumun's...

...

Let's play this game then.

He is clearly a slacker and corrupt officer. A true officer from the armed forces, especially one that deals with security, should have taken me captive first, then ask the questions. Or better, detained me, told a Sith and then torture me for the information. So clearly we are dealing with a corrupt man. Even not taking on account the blackmailing.

Now, at 1752 hours yesterday I was at the mess hall with lady Niriti and Lady Distraach so I have an alibi. Of course, using that option is not satisfactory on the short term, as I will probably be detained and miss several exams and classes. No, that's the last resort.

A test? Probably not. This must only be some plan involving limited amount of people. But I need to be sure first.

Options.

Fighting? Non, he is a trained military man, probably armed, with several soldiers in his command and influence. And I'm not the best of 'fighters' around here. And I do not have the influence or the reputation to make a mess and then justify my behavior.

Deception? Non, there's no way I could decieve him or others in this situation. He has the initiative here. He made the first move. I'm the one trapped, the one that is under the ilussion.

I guess my best options are negotation and words. The force? Not for now. First I need to know more variables to solve this equation.

Hmmm, yes these must be the best of options.

Alright, let's see where this lead us...

...

... face. He crossed his fingers and adopted a relaxed but thoughtful posture .

'' Hmm, I understand your position ensign, truthfully I do...'' Rumun tone of voice sounds worried but approachable as he nods. '' ... surely this must be a prank. But procedures should be paramount. Especially, when we are talking about the security of the academy, right?. ''

Rumun looked at the datapad that was on the desk.

'' Surely there's something I can do to help this situation resolve, I mean, poor as my services are, what can I do? '' He asked politely

Ok, your move now.

Ensign Hines leaned back and said, “There’s an off worlder causing trouble at the spaceport, he’s from an Imperial colony world and has some small influence with a Sith offworld, but I have it on good authority that he could be a Republic spy. If you could plant a device on his ship, so we could ascertain the veracity of this, I and the Empire would be grateful.”

Rumun picked up the datapad. '' What's this off worlder's name?'' He asked as he looks at the datapad.

Oh, my dear ensign Hines. What are you trying to accomplish here? I and the empire would be grateful?

It sounds to me a bit more 'I' than 'the empire'

“The name is Gram, playing at diplomat from a colony world. His ship is the Black Vale, you should easily recognize him. Fattest twi’lek I’ve ever seen,” he said with a smile.

"Be discrete."

Rumun chuckles at the description of 'Gram'

'' Well, that's definitely something easy to recognize. A fat twi'lek? Very rare sight.'' He shakes his head ''At least among the females... if you now what I mean?, eh? '' Rumun makes a casual comment.

'' I will be discreet'' the duros nods.

'' But what about this Sith you said? The one that has influence with this fat twi'lek? If the Twi'lek is a spy perhaps there more than one traitor among us '' Rumun asked, he sound worried.

“That is what I am hoping to find out, I assure you, your service to the Empire will be rewarded,” he replied with smile.

'' Of course, Of course. Then I will depart immediately...'' Rumun started to get up, but suddenly he oh-so-slightly moved his hand applying the force.

'' Oh, right! Ensing Hines?, but what about this datapad? what contains? what is this 'evidence' you talk about?'' He asked politely adding his knowledge of the force to his natural charm and approachable nature.

'' Surely, you can at least tell me that, right? . In case I fail, we don't want to have traces that lead to you...'' He adds concentrating into the force, so many questions and words perhaps confuses this man, leaving him in a disadvantageous position, revealing something that he should not...

Ok let's see if my training is useful here.

“Well it contains Imperial listening protocols and some junk data on Imperial troop movements. He should believe he is getting some data on the local wild life if he checks it. He is a trained SIS agent though, so do not engage him for any longer than you have to,” Ensign Hines responded.

“You can either sneak onto his ship and plant it, or give it to him directly as he is expecting the information. You are new enough here that you won’t draw suspicion.”

OOC: He is telling the truth. The best truth. The whole truth.

Hines's explanation seems legit. Rumun felt that he was telling the truth.

'' Alright then, I will deliver the datapad. Ensign Hines'' Rumun bow to the soldier.

The duros exited the room.

So how will I deliver this datapad?... He thought.
