Dumping his bag in his room Jo'ren even had time to refresh himself before heading back out into the training grounds. It didn't look like anyone else had arrived yet. It was almost as if he had always been here...

The large Sith breathed in deeply, savouring the taste of the dry air, the faint hint of sweat and blood. It was intoxicating. He thought about doing a few laps to get started, but having just run here there was something else on his mind: a lightsaber.

Well, a training saber at least. It wasn't as if the academy was going to make it easy for them to collect their signature weapon, but securing a training saber ought to be possible.

Jo'ren began stalking around the ground, looking for someone who could assist him, or a convenient pile of training sabers just lying around.

There was sadly a shortage of convenient piles of training sabers but there was several of the younger students out many of them between the ages of ten to fifteen by the looks of it. They were training very basic lightsaber forms, most were human with a few sith and the odd rare alien.

A human Overseer was barking orders at them while a woman paced back and forth offering slight corrections for the fifteen or so students. She wore a dark robe but flashes of crimson skin could be seen as she moved back and forth between the students before she stepped aside to observe their forms.

Overhead a shuttle passed by screaming towards the spaceport, or at least he could assume that.

(OOC: Redacted after sorting out timings via PM)

Noting the squad of trainees Jo'ren paced over towards them. He noted the forms and the general skill level of the students and nodded to himself. Khalim would receive a nod in greeting when he arrived.

Not wanting to overly annoy the Overseer, or the person he assumed was the Master of Arms, he approached cautiously and stopped an appropriate distance away.

When a break in the shouting arose, he made his move.

"My Lords. Please forgive my intrusion. My name is Jo'ren Rath. I arrived here from the wastes an hour ago and wish to begin my lessons."

He bowed his head and awaited their judgement.

(OOC: You posted this in the EA timeslot. If you need it to be in the earlier timeslot, you should post it there instead. I figured the refresher and whatnot was accounting for the other hour of the previous timeslot. I'll remove my post and you can update the timeslot if you don't want others in it.)

(OOC: You mentioned going to your room so you can't arrive before me is all :). Since you take two hours and arrive at the point between time slot changes. The timing of the arrival is all I'm quibbling with :).)

She turned and said, “Do you have a training saber.”

She looked like a sith, but did not talk like a sith.

"No I do not my Lord. I was told I would be provided with one upon my arrival."

Jo'ren noted the accent and thought back to Thorne's comment on the ship.

“Yeah, but some brought their own,” she said and then gestured and a training saber lifted from the nearby table and moved through the air to rest floating in front of the sith aspirant.

“This should work.”

Jo'ren reached out and took the training saber, with an intense expression.

"Indeed, then I commend their preparation. Thank you my Lord.". With a flick of the switch he activated it to check the functionality.

“Yeah,” she said and turned to look at the students.

The training saber comes to life with a crimson glow. It buzzed and hummed as expected with intensity though not as much heat as the real thing.

"May I join the class my Lord?". He examined the hilt and moved it around to check the balance.

Perhaps she had other plans for him, or maybe she didn't want a newcomer jumping into the middle of her lessons. Then again she probably didn't care one way or the other.

“Yeah, sure. You don’t look like a novice though,” she added lightly but with detachment. Her voice was soft and a bit distant.

Around this time, another figure wearing fine clothes and a large, black cloak wanders into the training grounds.

Not looking to interrupt the currently ongoing practice, he moves to an unoccupied practice ring. He closes his eyes and exhales slowly, focusing his willpower inward, before reaching to his belt and producing a metallic cylinder. He flicks a switch, and the glow and low hum of his training saber joins the chorus of those already present.

He begins practicing his forms, seeming to favor a combat style which largely focuses on defensive maneuvers to tire out the opponent before striking.

"I am not, my Lord. But I am sure that you can find a use for me... Or I can leave you be, as you wish."

Of course she might take the opportunity to thrash him into unconsciousness, but it might be worth it. It turned out that his information had been correct: she was hot.

At which point Jo'ren noticed the arrival of Khalim, his fellow pureblood. He gave his fellow applicant a nod, without retracting his attention from the Master at Arms, pleased and not surprised to see that they had both arrived well before the rest of the crowd.

She followed his gaze to the other student and then said, “I don’t have anything for you, unless you are looking to learn.”

Jaina watched Khalim and then added, “Satisfactory.”

Jo'ren bowed his head a little at that. "I am always looking to learn, my Lord. Dueling is in my blood, and I would be honoured to learn from a Master."

He watched Khalim's form with interest, taking pleasure in that fact that the True Sith here all seemed to be more than just competent.

“If you are looking for a master find Darth Acomo,” she said flatly.

"If she deigned to see me, and found me worthy, I expect she would send me to you. You are the Master of Arms, after all, and it is the art of the duel that I seek to perfect.". He spoke with passion, the desires of a bloodline of warriors pushing him onward.

She doubted that but folded her arms across her chest and said, “I am busy now, but maybe tomorrow after the Orientation.”

Jo'ren smiled fiercely.

"Excellent, then I will find you here tomorrow once Orientation is complete. I will keep you no longer." He bowed and waited to be sure she was done with him for the moment.

“Sure,” she said in response turning her attention to the students.

Khalim continues to move through his forms, carefully practicing a number of parries with his training saber.

Having apparently secured some one on one time with the Master of Arms, and avoided losing any limbs, Jo'ren turned his attention back to Khalim. With a friendly nod he approached, watching the man's form and waiting for a suitable break in his practice.

"Good afternoon Aspirant Khalim. Congratulations on your fast time through the wastes." He activated the training saber he had been loaned and began some basic warm up drills.

Pausing his practice, Khalim nods in return.

"Good afternoon to you as well, aspirant Jo'ren. While I made it through quickly and without incident, it doesn't seem I was the fastest, though. I believe that claim is yours?"
