Beasal got out to make the finishing touches...and braced herself to the trial run

''Ooooh this will be fun!''

Zeno showed up after getting the comlink message during his looting party. He was disappointed he didn't get the chance to help with the work itself but to see the fruits of her labor and his investment... he was excited. A brand new way of cutting things!

''Good afternoon Zeno'' she said with a welcoming grin

''The protoype is ready...The Ionsaber is up for the trial run!''

Zeno nods. There is a melancholy about him that is unusual. "I look forward to seeing what your genius has produced." He smiles at her.

''I am too...'' she looked around and piled her electronic away from her

''Stay clear, I'm igniting it!''

The hilt crackles with electrical energy and them the blade ignites with a very different kind of hum more of an undulating bass and the blade has particle effects that fit into and out of existence around it. It seems stable for now, and swinging it creates a ‘vwhoom’ sound.

It does not explode.

Baesal is out of herself

''It worked! It worked!'' she exclaims

''It needs to be tested...''

With that said, she moves to lightly hit a dummy with it.

"Congratulations," Zeno says as he watches her test it out.

The blade passes through the dummy, leaving behind faint burn markings but otherwise the dummy seems fine.

''Wonderful!''

She looks at the energy blade and grins while swinging it around

''This is somewhat of a game changer''

Zeno takes a deep breath as he pulls out his shoto. He steps forward and holds it in a straight line. It's obvious he wants her to strike the blade.

''Allright...''

She strikes the soho with the Ionblade

And when the strike connects, Zeno could see his lightsaber flicker and almost go out under the Ionsaber's red jolting blade. Thankfully Baesal removes it just in time...

''Oh shit!''

His eye twitches visibly at that, a look of displeasure existing for a moment. And then curiosity. And then a smile. "Interesting."

He inspects the shoto to see if there is any permanent damage or if it was just some sort of disruption due to an energy feedback.

When the Ionsaber connects with Zeno’s saber there is an explosion of power which shuts down all active devices for about 20 meters. Zeno’s saber is now damaged and he Ionsaber is destroyed leaving just the crystal to be salvaged.

The blast knocks Baesal to the ground.

Everyone turns to look at what happens and wondering why their training sabers are non-functional. In that moment she knows where she went wrong… and can build another without the critical flaw.

OOC: Despair effect activated. Zeno’s shoto is damaged, gives a setback to all rolls with that shoto. Triumph effect allows Baesal to construct a ionsaber safely if she so chooses.

''Eeuuar?''

She blinks, her ass on the ground.

''Whaaaa...I...whoa''

The sudden flash, causes Zeno to step back and blink a few times to recover his blurred vision. "I..."

He looks down to his saber once more and lights it up. It seems off. More dispersed, not as luminescent, and the hilt feels like something may have been jostled loose. He grimaces at it.

"Well, that could have gone better," he replies. "I'm going to need some repairs here. Give me a hand?"

Baesal vers up and picks up the crystal...The only piece that remained

"Uh, yeah...sure"

It will have to be rebuilt...but man...I have another Idea

He moves over to the Togruta with his shoto and begins pulling it apart so they can find what is wrong.

"I hope you know... I'm not sure I'll have enough credits for a bit to cover that expense again. When I do I'll help cover it. I suspect you're not going to give up on this. Not with the semi-success of getting it to light up and partially function. Seems you just have some sort of containment stability problem or something."

"Don't worry sweet cheeks, I think I have figured out the problem...and I got another Idea!"

Despite the explosive failure, she seemed quite happy.

"That's good. But do you have the resources?" he replies. "I'll help as soon as I can liquidate some stuff. You seem to be on to something pretty damn good here. And if it works out I'll build up the credits to have you put one together for me too. If you're up to it."

He continues to tinker until he locates the problem with her assistance and puts everything in it's proper place.

"That should do it."

''Don't burden yourself too much on that end. I have good deal of credits, a few hundred more and I should be fine.''

She nodded when the soho was repaired

''Don't liquidate your assets for that, you have done enough''

"I might have to," he says with a grin. I might want you to build me one of these once you perfect it."

''We'll see about that, shall we?''

She begins to pack her stuff

''At least now I think I can make an ion grenade...use your failures and make them into triumphs!''

"I look forward to seeing the finished product. And I'm glad you brought me in to help you. I know things have been tense because of my connection to Zash and that makes it hard to trust me. But I'm going to be having a talk with her in a bit," he says.

"I'll tell her what's what, and either I'll be a pile of ash and trusting me won't be an issue anymore or she'll accept that even if she's my master and I'll work towards her goals, I will also work with who I want and will not act against people I consider comrades."

''That is a noble sentiment Zeno but I fear that even if you succed it will only be fleeting.''

She looks around and lowers her voice

''As you know, the ritual she used is flawed: her body will be devoured by the power she absorbs. That can only motivate her to go down a spiral...who knows what she will make you do''
