They were an unlikely pair. One large male Sith dressed in full Sith battle armour. One female Rodian hunter. Yet over the last few weeks of intensive training they had gathered a degree of respect for each other's skills. The tough training of the Sith academy fostered a sort of gallows mentality, and Jo'ren had lost his friendly respite from the world of the Sith when Gerry died.

So one day he had asked Grenda about hunting and wilderness survival, and now they were heading out into the Valley of the Dark Lords to explore some areas he had gathered info on the day they had arrived on Korriban. Time had passed strangely here.

Judging by the datapad they were closing on the approximate coordinates, so he found a place to park up.

"One last day of that good old Korriban dust."

"I will not miss it. Too dusty. I feel like I'm drying out just walking around here. Give me a good jungle or swamp anyday."

She started looking for tracks just by instinct alone.

"Heh, maybe you'll get your wish soon." He looked around at the bleak landscape, imagining how it must have looked before the first Sith war.

"Did you know this planet used to be green? Covered with forests." Which reminded him he still really needed to talk to that weird Veers woman.

"Things change. Even Tatooine had plants once. I wonder if this was green before or after the Sith claimed it?"

She kicked a stone across the ground. In previous days that had usually unearthed something interesting.

"I think... I have no idea." He shrugged. "It was probably covered in one of Lord Savas' lectures. Oh, wait. It was green when the Dark Jedi arrived, so it depends on which sith or Sith you mean."

He waved a hand, it was all a bit confusing. Grenda's stone skipped across the arid ground as Jo'ren opened up the files he had collected from the archives and started calling up the assorted details.

While Jo'Ren checked the datafiles, Grenda checked her blaster carbine was loaded and ready. She might have made her own lightsaber but she wasn't quite ready to give up the blaster yet.

"Past is past. It's all just dust now."

Like Gerry. He sighed as he ran through the mapping data. It looked like they were just next to one of the features he had noted as being untouched.

"Yes. Although Korriban has a way of preserving things that should have been lost to time."

There was a metallic sound as the stone Grenda had kicked came to rest against...something.

(OOC: Spending a Destiny point for Grenda and Jo'ren to find some sort of fun adventure!)

Both of Grenda's antennae swivelled to the sound and her hands dropped to the blaster first . . . before switching to the lightsaber.

"Perhaps not all is dust."

Jo'ren's left hand rested on his lightsaber as he looked from the pad, to Grenda and then toward the sound.

"Guess not. Unless it's some of that solid, metallic dust."

"I think that would defy the very nature of being dust."

She moved to investigate the metallic clang.

"Ah... Hmm, I guess my humour still isn't translating very well." He shrugged his big shoulders and followed along, letting the expert hunter lead the way.

It looks like a half buried… droid, an ancient protocol droid maybe? Perhaps the wind had exposed it. It was half buried against a large rock. The chassis was beaten and worn, with rust and exposed wiring.

"Well would you look at that. Wonder how old it is?". He looked at his Rodian companion. "Any chance you're a mechanical whiz kid?"

"Basics only. The Togruta is the expert mechanic amongst us. Ever seen this pattern of droid before?"

Even with it just being a dead droid, she didn't take her hands off her weapons yet.

Jo'ren looked at what was visible, thought about the info he had uncovered, and then shrugged.

"Nope, but it does look too broken to still be active." He moved closer and prodded it with his boot.

It’s a Republic style protocol droid, but he can’t tell much else.

"Wait. This droid's a republic model. What's it doing it here?"

He bent down next to the droid and started clearing away the dirt that encased it. Fortunately there was a shovel for this sort of work in his wilderness kit.

Post subject:  Re: [Day 7, EE-ME] Sightseeing

After a brief check that nothing was sneaking up on them, Grenda unpacked her shovel and got to work as well.

"It looks old, but maybe it still has something in its data banks we might find useful. Any good with droid brains?"

Post subject:  Re: [Day 7, EE-ME] Sightseeing

It takes little effort to dig it up especially with the lower portions missing. The legs looks to have been sheared off at one point forcibly.

Jo’ren gets a message.

Post subject:  Re: [Day 7, EE-ME] Sightseeing

"Hmm, maybe it was surveying this area for the Jedi? Actually I'm more on the dismantling side of droid repairs, but maybe we can figure it out between us?" He paused in his digging to pull out his comlink and look at it. If it was a voice message he would turn the volume down and move off to listen to it.

(OOC: If you want to try rolling mechanics I think I can give you a boost dice?)

It was a text message from @darthjerkness.

Post subject:  Re: [Day 7, EE-ME] Sightseeing

"Ha! Dismantling droids is usually my preferred manner of dealing with them, but maybe we can see if there is anything left in this one."

She set aside her shovel and started examining the droid itself, tool kit at the ready if she thought anything could be done.

I'll try Mechanics, but don't expect much. Difficulty please Dapperest of Dogs?

OOC: Average with a setback die for the age and exposure to elements.

Post subject:  Re: [Day 7, EE-ME] Sightseeing

Jo'ren decided to help Grenda with the repair efforts first.

(OOC: Worth a boost die?)

Once they had finished he would check the message.

The Rodian tried her best, but even with Jo'Ren's help the age and damage eventually defeated her.

"Pah I do not know what else I can do. We need a Droid Tech on this. I think it can be reactivated but probably not here."
