With the weather looking like it would take a turn for the worse it seemed important to get their show on the road early. So Jo'ren had leapt out of bed and run off to grab a spare power core first thing in the morning. The droid's data would give him and Grenda something to work with for round 2 in the Valley of the Dark Lords.

But what had the droid revealed?

The droid revealed that it was part of a two man team, it worked with a Jedi and although the databanks were scrambled it seems the last few moments were spent in freefall and before that they were on a small shuttle that suffered damage during the Battle of Korriban and crash landed probably not far from where he met the Mandalorians.

"Nice, we can work with that." Jo'ren patted the droid on what was left of its shoulder and removed the power unit. Once he had collected all of his gear he checked to make sure that his scanner goggles were operating at top efficiency and set out for the coordinates before the storm had a chance to roll in.

Arriving back at the place where he and Grenda had found the droid in the first place he set his goggles up to look for any signatures consistent with a Republic shuttle. Impact craters, metal concentrations, faded power cells. He cross-referenced it all with the maps of the area that he had obtained six weeks earlier and had yet to put to good use.

Jo'ren has a pretty good idea of where he needs to go. It takes him another thirty minutes to reach the desolate spot and see a mound of crimson dirt and sand and a half exposed metallic wing in the middle of the wastes.

"Bingo."

He looked up into the sky where the clouds were beginning to gather and imagined the precipitous fall from the sky. Reaching out with the Force he felt for a Sense of anything in the area: echoes of the past, or living things, before setting to the task of digging. It ought to be easy enough to uncover a door with a bit of digging.

Jo’ren senses something, it resonates in the force but hard to tell if it is actually alive. Just beyond the closest dune.

"Hmm."

That droid had bailed out, or been pushed. Maybe something else had too? Or it could always be a predator waiting in ambush. His saber really found its way into his hand and he concentrated on the resonance as he moved cautiously towards it.

Instead of a predator, well it could be he finds a lone Mandalorian inspecting what looks to be another part of the wreck perhaps jutting out of the dune. Her armor is red black and she turns to him immediately and raises her disruptor rifle and says, “Not here to cause trouble, Sith.”

He threw her a smile and committed his senses towards defense. "Well that's good, you can lower your rifle then. I'm Jo'ren Rath."

He walked closer at an easy place. "So, who are you; and why are you here?"

“Reasons.”

“You,” she asks him back.

"Well Reasons, did your parents have a sense of humour then? I'm here to salvage this ship that I went to a lot of effort to find."

He shrugged. "You want to help me?". His eyes flickered around the area to see if she had a ship or speeder nearby. Or had she walked perhaps?

“I found an odd signature and wanted a look for myself, seems we both found the same thing,” she says.

“We can work together.”

"Fine by me Reasons." He gave her a winning smile and offered his hand. Once she was prepared to shake it he looked at the part of the wreck she was working on. "How far did you get? I've got a universal lock pick, and a shovel. Amongst other things."

The goggles might be useful too.

She shakes his hand and says, “Not far, this looks to have broken off in the crash, probably after impact and ejected over here.”

“Scoring matches up with ship to ship combat, close quarters ship combat.”

He nodded and pointed back over the dune. "Yeah that makes sense. The main part of the ship is buried on the other side of the dune. I found a chopped up protocol droid yesterday that was onboard. Memory banks indicated it was pushed out on the way down."

He began to inspect the section they were standing beside. "Might as well check this out since we're right here." Hitting the controls for the goggles he tried several different frequencies to look for any evidence that this bit was worth their efforts.

Well what do you know?. All that time spent with Gerry learning the basics was finally starting to provide some insight with mechanics.

He finds a working subsystem that could be used to pull data about the ship if properly sliced. It just needs power.

"Huh, good job I grabbed that power unit earlier. I think there's a working subsystem here, hold on.". He ran back to the speeder and brought it over. Grabbing the power core that he'd used on the droid earlier he was probably able to get it up and running again.

“You’re handy,” she says.

“Know how to slice?”

"Thanks. And no I do not. Good news: you do. Right? With all those computer skills that picked up this odd signature?". He looked at her expectantly.

"Move aside," she says and assuming he complies she looks.

"Republic ship designated Falcon 3, here on escort duty. Looks like it was here during the Battle of Korriban," she responds.

OOC: She did it!

He magnanimously moved out of the way to let the Mandalorian have her moment to shine. "Hey, nice work Reasons! We're quite the team. Falcon 3 escort ship, and it got boarded and crashed here... Can you pull up any schematics, payload, crew IDs, that sort of thing?" He pulled out his datapad. "We can download the info onto here if it's easier?"

“Crew of two, looks like a Master Tuli Vindo and a droid 3C-R0, probably he one you found. Not a combat vessel, looks like a long term research frigate. Minor weapons load out, where was the main crash?” she asks.

"A research vessel?" Not the first he'd found. "Can you locate any of their research data, or would we need a main terminal for that?"

He described the location of the main crash site. "Not far over that dune, we can take the speeder and check it out."
