It was simple enough for a student in good standing to borrow a speeder, so Jo'ren took the opportunity and shot off over to the spaceport. He hoped the droid was correct, it seemed a waste to have to smash it apart for failing him.

Parking up and locking the vehicle with a code so that it didn't get stolen by a less well-liked student, Jo'ren began to look around for the sort of parts that might be useful in assembling a lightsaber hilt. To begin with he wasn't feeling too picky, although he had grand plans of crafting a weapon that would echo through the ages. He'd probably need a bit more practice for that though, so for the moment anything would do.

D1. EE. Attempting to scrounge/salvage parts for a hilt. Average Streetwise check (?): 2eA+2eD 4 successes, 2 threat

Jo’ren finds suitable parts in the junk piles and refuse around the space port with little issue. Easily enough salvaged parts to make a hilt with the knowledge he has, maybe not the best quality parts but he does not know that.

A twi’lek… not slave, maybe merchant or off-world traveler looks at Jo’ren scrounging and said, “Having a go at the free stuff?” He had a blaster on his hip and a bravado style swagger, handsome in the face with pale orange skin.

OOC: He has enough to make a lightsaber hilt but with a setback die due to quality of the parts.

Fairly pleased with his haul, Jo'ren smirked a little and strolled over towards the twi'lek. His utility belt jangled with all of the salvaged parts. Big shoulders shrugged.

"Waste not want not, right? On Korriban you never know where you'll find something useful."

“Yeah I can agree with that, you’re not human, one of the natives?” the twi’lek said, his accent was definitely offworld probably Outer Rim.

“They got some good stuff out here, if you can mind the ambience. First time on Korriban, is it always so… uh, intense here?”

Outwardly he relaxed, though he was keeping his guard up just in case. The alien he presumed was a Smuggler appeared to mean him no harm. Yet.

"Yeah, I'm a native. One of the True Sith, wasn't born here though, obviously.". He smiled easily.

"I'm hoping to find some of that 'good stuff' myself. And yeah, far as I know it's always like this. Has been for a looooong time."

“Kalen Rod, chief operating officer of Top Flight Logistics and Captain of the Infinite Destiny,” he offered his hand to the sith aspirant.

“Ship is docked with the space station but I figured I would get a lay of the land. You Imperials love your paperwork, felt like I was writing a novel just to come down here. Now that I am down here… well just ain’t much here.”

Jo'ren laughed at the paperwork comment then took the offered hand and gave it a firm and polite shake. "Well met Kalen Rod, or do you prefer 'Captain'?" He gave the man a roguish grin. "Jo'ren Rath, Aspirant. Soon to be Sith."

He considered the point for a moment before continuing. "Could have been worse you know. They just dropped us off in the Wastes. Should have seen the looks when I turned up at the Academy an hour later..."

There was no small amount of pride there. "As for Korriban, well. There's plenty here, you just need to know where to look. Or wait for things to find you."

Kalen listened and said, “That sounds absolutely crazy, they just left you in the middle of nowhere? Yeah I heard there was like tombs filled treasure or something, but that just sounds like every other crazy off the charts world.”

“Also Kalen is fine, Captain sounds way too official for me. So where do you look for fun around here Jo’ren?”

Jo'ren just shrugged. "If a Sith can't handle the Wasteland? May as well go crawl under a rock. As for the Tombs, they do exist. But they ain't just filled with treasure..."

He gave Kalen a serious look, which was disrupted by an amused smile. "Fun, Kalen? I suppose it depends on your definition. If you're looking for alcohol there's Cantina #66 in the Academy. You'll probably have to fill out another book's worth of forms to get permission to be on the grounds though. If you're looking for adventure? Well, I'm planning an expedition into one of those Tombs and I could use an ally with keen senses and technical skills."

Jo'ren's enthusiasm for his planned adventure was a little infectious. "Oh, and before I forget: Top Flight Logistics. What do you do exactly?"

“Well lucky you I got a lift speech ready to go, Top Flight Logistics is a premier courier specialist team. If you need something moved quickly, quietly, and efficiently we are the team to do it. Republic space, Imperial space, hell even Hutt space; we got you covered. Competitive rates for a professional service. Discrete and fast, no questions asked,” Kalen replied warmly.

He produced a card as if on cue, “Adventure is a side business, for the right amount of compensation.”

Smuggler, got it.

Jo'ren chuckled lightly. "Nice, thanks for the card." He scanned it, noted the number and pulled out his communicator to enter the details. "Okay, here's my com channel, just bear in mind that the Empire will be listening." He raised an amused eyebrow.

"My interest in treasures is limited to lightsaber paraphernalia and relics that are tied to the force. I really don't care about anything else. So if we find nothing, we're building a collaboration. If we find stuff I don't need that you can sell, you keep 75% of the credits. And if I find what I'm looking for? I won't care about the credits. Either way, you are talking to a future Dark Lord of Sith. If that isn't good for business you're in the wrong part of the Galaxy my friend."

Kalen flashed a smile and said, “Hey the best business is repeat business and repeat business with a Dark Lord of the Sith sounds like profitable business to me. But only 75%, come on make it 80% and we got ourselves a deal.”

“I mean I have a ship, probably the fastest in the sector. We can bring it in close to move a great deal of goods, and I have connections to get the best prices. It’s win, win.”

Negotiating with a smuggler? Yeah right.

Jo'ren was not skilled in this area so he had to concede to Kalen's counter offer. After all, it was only money. He did come away with some sort of benefit however (advantage for some sort of positive effect, however that works).

"Very well Kalen, 80%." He offered his large hand in the traditional manner of sealing a deal.

Kalen’s smile was professional as he shook Jo’ren’s hand to seal the deal, “This is the start of a beautiful partnership, and I tell you what, since you are looking for pretty hard to find materials I got a lead that we could follow up. It’s in the what you folks call the deep wastes I guess, remote and supposed to be untapped.”

“Lot of ships went down during that battle for Korriban, got a lead on a wreck, The Valiant Light. A Jedi craft, they do that Force stuff too right?”

Post subject:  Re: [Day 1, EE] Spare parts

Well now that was interesting... He laughed a little and gave the twi'lek an ironic grin.

"Aha, you have done some research. Good, and yes, that sounds promising Kalen. Very promising indeed. A wrecked Jedi craft may well have what I'm looking for on board..."

He nodded firmly. "Alright then, let's begin our partnership by stripping this Jedi craft of its remaining valuables. The Deep Wastes are treacherous terrain so we should bring wilderness survival gear, climbing gear, and perhaps some electrogoggles so we can see inside the wreck."

“Now there is one minor detail,” Kalen said with his practiced smile.

“I can get the crew down here and access to the site, but moving the goods off world through Imperial channels might compromise the payout. Now if we could get our hands on travel codes, or transponder we could bring in the Infinite Destiny and bypass that all together.”

“Easily double our haul and keep this operation off Imperial books altogether, better for you and me.”

Post subject:  Re: [Day 1, EE] Spare parts

Ah yes, there would be a complication now wouldn't there...

"Travel codes or a transponder." He thought about his recent contacts and weighed the options. "It may take a day or two but I think that should be possible. If not, well, better half of something than nothing."

Let's see if those skills of your are up to the task Gerry...

"Let's meet here tomorrow afternoon and see where things stand."

“Now that is what I like to hear, Jo’ren,” he seemed very pleased with that response.

“I will be here.”

"I look forward to the adventure, and the start of a profitable partnership Kalen." With a grin he made to leave but stopped. "Oh, just one more thing. What size and class of vessel is the Infinite Destiny. I may need the crew compliment too."

"Perfect. Until tomorrow then!"
