Post subject: | [Day 1 - LM - Event] Welcome to Korriban |
After a short journey on Sadow’s Rage the aspirants are herded to a shuttle quickly through the Korriban Space Station. It is fairly early in the morning when they feel the shuttle launch and begin it’s descent to the planet. It is a smooth ride until there is a sharp jolt and then the craft begins to shake as it begins to break through the upper atmosphere of Korriban. The shuttle shakes violently before the shuddering ends and the craft descends through the upper clouds towards the crimson wastes below, long minutes pass as the craft begins to slow before there is a very silent and sudden landing. What many Imperial soldiers call a military landing. The doors open and for a brief moment there is blinding light before the eyes adjust to the reddish light. Just beyond the ramp was a speeder still hovering and ten Imperial soldiers in full battle regalia their black armor gleaming in the daylight. A sith woman hopped out of the speeder followed by another Imperial soldier a Captain by the ranks on his armor. He removed his helmet to reveal snow colored hair and a stern façade. |

Rona glared and said “This is the best the Empire could muster, aliens and children unworthy to even be in the presence of Sith. I should kill this lot were they stand and spare the Empire the trouble of feeding them. As it stands I can let Korriban do it for me.” She turned to the horizon of jagged rocks, hills, and harsh landscape and said, “It is at least twenty kilometers to the Academy from here, give or take. You will traverse that distance on foot. If you die you will be forgotten you try to run away you will be killed; if you get lost as I expect most of you will the Imperial soldiers might find you if the predators don’t eat you. Which I hope they do.” “Now get out of my sight.” |

“Ahem,” the Imperial Captain added, “My soldiers will scour the wastes for your corpses in several hours. If you arrive at the Academy you will be directed to the dorms, I suggest you get rest as you will have Orientation in the morning.” |

Welcome to Korriban Event Type: Mandatory Participants: All Timeslots: Late Morning to Mid Afternoon. Reputation Affected: Yes Description: The student needs to find their way to the Korriban Academy, they can do this over three rolls, they only need successes to make is successfully. Each roll is at Average difficulty (2 Difficulty dice). If the character rolls Threat they sustain strain for each threat rolled. Any advantage rolled reduces time by 30 minutes. Each roll takes up a time slot, so two hours. A triumph counts as two successes on a single roll, this reduces time taken by 1 time slot to a minimum of one time slot. If a Despair is rolled the player becomes lost no matter how many successes have been rolled. If the player fails at accruing two successes they become lost and will be found by Imperial soldiers in late Afternoon and return to the Academy in Early Evening. If a Despair is rolled they are not found till Early Night and return to the Academy at Mid Night. There is a Speed Run option in which you only make two rolls but at Difficulty of Hard, this can only be done solo. You still need two successful rolls. There is also an option to group up, up to four players, which means players can use the Assistance rules but they use the lowest Reputation for all rolls. Remember with Assistance you can use the highest characteristic of one character and the highest skill of another character. Each additional character can add a boost die to the roll. This is a safer option but will not impress the Overseer. If going as a group start a new thread in this forum. Options for skills: Coordination (Agility), Stealth (Agility), Survival (Cunning), Resilience (Brawn), Combat Skill (Dependent on skill), or Knowledge Xenology (Intelligence). You can only chose an option once, keep in mind you can only use a combat skill once. You can also gain a boost die for having equipment usable for survival or traversing the wilderness. A character with Seek can make a roll and if they get a single force point they get an automatic success, two force points’ counts as a Triumph. Minimum time is 1 hour. Rewards: If successful they make it to the Academy, the three fastest students gain 1 Reputation. GM Usage of Destiny: Flipping three Destiny to upgrade the difficulty, one purple to a red, of one roll of their choice for the following players; Zeno Deathwright, Sylvain Torsin, and Moyr Ahaya. |

Thorne does not wait for aid; as much as she wishes to take the fast routé she knew her limits and took a good pace through the red wastes. She immediately lost her way fell down an incline into a deep ravine. She could hear the sounds of native predators and they rushed her as she drew out her sword and fought them off with a fury and easily dispatched one and chased the rest off once they saw they did not have an easy meal. Working her way through the ravine she scaled a cliff side and jogged the rest of the way into the Academy arriving just over five hours of travel through the red wastes. She was scarred and bloody but alive and well. It was a good first day on Korriban. OOC Thorne Event 1 - Survival: 1eP+1eA+2eD 1 failure, 1 advantage Thorne Event 1 - Lightsaber: 1eA+2eP+2eD 1 success, 1 advantage Thorne Event 1 - Athletics: 2eA+1eP+2eD 4 successes, 4 threat Succeeds, with 4 strain taken, in 5 hours. |

Zeno looks notes the direction that Rona glances when she mentions the academy. When the Sith Overseer says to get out of her sight he does just that taking off in the direction inferred. As he makes his way into the wastes towards the academy some manner of darkside beast comes at him from behind a large stone pile as he was passing by. He draws his sword as the thing approaches and performs a deft flip over the thing continuing onward with his landing without even reacting to the thud of the creatures head on the ground as he kept his pace, sheathing his sword on his utility belt once more. As he continued on he didn't notice that his maneuver had sent him astray from his path. He ends up in a rocky valley with loose footing and does his best to make it through unscathed. Which he does, only to find that he should have made it to the academy by this point. He knew he had traveled at least 10 kilometers... he was apparently lost. Speed Run Lightsaber Agility 1 success, 3 advantage, Destiny Point spent Coordination 3 failures, 1 advantage |

Shaisha gave a look to Sylvain, Kristal, and even the new member of their gang, Leilani. "Take care, you guys. Syl, you understand I need to do this on my own. My sire wouldn't accept anything else of me..." it seemed to weigh heavily on her mind, but she hoped that at least Syl would understand, as he knew. Pulling up the hood on her dark robe, Shaisha slipped away on her own. This was only the beginning in finally getting recognition, so that she could feel that she could speak the name of her heritage with pride. This was hardly her first time on Korriban, and she knew its dangers well. It was in her blood. And she remembered this particular valley... it had areas that where the ground was unstable, sometimes crumbling apart underneath the feet of unsuspecting fools. She grinned proudly as she got out the liquid-wire and grappling hook, as she navigated through a lot of the area by swinging herself from many of the ruined statues and crumbling architecture from long ago. As she cleared the difficult landscape, she noticed that the wildlife seemed to be more in abundance here. If only I had more than a knife... Shaisha thought with annoyance. Slipping past seemed a better option than potentially drawing attention from more dangerous predators... or over-eager students thinking to eliminate her early on. Her familiarity with the area, and her clothes suited for such activities, the young Sithling moved unnoticed. Still, it was tiresome to move in the concealing robes and taking care to step silently. I am Sith. I am incapable of losing here. The femme Sith thought, gritting her teeth and pushing on as hard as she could. The heat be damned. It was probably hotter on some place like Tattooine, damnit. Heaving a heavy breath as she stepped towards the Academy's shadow, Shaisha pushed away her hood. She had made it. And in pretty good time too. --- D1 Welcome to Korriban. 1st roll: Survival/Cunning. 1 Boost die from Climbing Gear: 4eA+1eB+2eD 1 success, 5 advantage D1 Welcome to Korriban. 2nd roll: Stealth/Agility. 1 Boost from Reputation (1/2), 1 Boost from Concealing Robes: 1eA+1eP+2eB+2eD 3 successes D1 Welcome to Korriban. 3rd roll: Resilience/Brawn. 1 Boost from Reputation (2/2): 1eA+1eP+1eB+2eD 4 successes EDIT: With the forgotten Boost-dice D1 Welcome to Korriban. 2 forgotten Boost Dice to 1st roll. A bit surprised at being made to trudge through the desert upon arrival, Khalim shrugs and looks around to determine the best path and heads out into the wilderness of Korriban. As he makes his way along through the arid wasteland, he climbs up to high ground and puts on his scanner goggles. Managing to catch sight of the distant Academy, he heads off in that direction with a good idea of where he needs to go. As he makes his way through a low canyon, the growl of a predatory creature causes him to pause for a moment. He pulls out his training lightsaber, and with a hum it is activated. Not allowing the creature to delay him in his journey, he slays it and continues on his way. Finally climbing out of the canyon, he crosses the last bit of arid waste to arrive at the academy, tired and dusty but alive. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lightsaber: 0 successes, 5 advantages Welcome Event - Lightsaber: 3eA+1eP+2eD 1 failure, 5 advantage Welcome Event - Lightsaber (Reputation Boost Dice): 2eB 1 success Survival: 3 successes, 3 advantages Welcome Event - Survival - 1 Reputation Boost: 2eA+2eB+2eD 3 successes, 2 advantage Welcome Event - Survival (Reputation Boost Die): 1eB 0 successes, 1 advantage Resilience: 1 success, 3 threat Welcome Event - Resilience - 1 Reputation Boost (2/2): 1eA+1eP+1eB+2eD 1 success, 3 threat Welcome Event - Resilience (Reputation Boost Die): 1eB 0 successes Total Travel Time: 2 hours Strain taken: 3 |

This was the sort of shit that Jo'ren Rath lived for. He couldn't help but chuckle as he set off into the wastes, choosing what looked like a dangerously narrow path beside a set of plunging ravines. The wild abandon with which he recklessly sprinted along the treacherous peak was exhilarating. Just as he reached the point of no return a pair of flapping predatory bat-lizards decided to have a go at him. With his knuckle-dusters he made short work of them and emerged onto a baking hot plain that led to the Academy. Fortunately the heat did not affect him in the slightest as he ran the last few kilometres towards his goal. All of that resistance training on the ship made it light work. Jo'ren wasn't surprised to find that he had made the run from the drop off point in record time. ------ Roll 1 Coordination (Agility) - 2eA+1eP+2eD+2eB D1 Welcome to Korriban. Average Difficulty. Xevine drew her sword from her back, gathered her meager possessions, gave a nod of farewell to her classmates, and set off. She was first beset by grub.... wormthings. Her sword settled the matter quickly, though considering it was her first real experience at life or death combat solo, she was shaken up. Next came a dust storm. That plus the trek plus the heat started bearing down on her. Raising an arm to block the dust from getting into her eyes, she started plowing forward. And forward. And forward. Truthfully, she was on the verge of giving up, just blindly charging into the unknown... when she hit a well. Taking her arm away, she noticed a symbol of the Empire in front of her. And a soldier shouting at her. "What, are you blind? Uh.... sir." These people were insane. All of them. The 'teachers'. The students. She hated them. She hated this place. She hated it all. Not thinking ahead, she decided to just set off on her own. Even if she wouldn't be able to escape, being away from all these mad men and idiots was its own reward. And she needed time to think. Unfortunately, she'd either underestimated the dangers or overestimated her skills. If only they'd given her a real weapon. Then maybe she'd have made more progress. It was all someone else's fault. Obviously. In the end, she got lost. When they found her, they'd find blood on her; though it wasn't hers. At least she'd managed to kill something out there. Whatever the hell it was. Post subject: | Re: [Day 1 - LM - Event] Welcome to Korriban |
Moyr considered herself enough of a desert creature so she just cast the big black hood over her lekku and went into the wastes without another word. Time was of the essence, after all. Soon, she discovered that every preparation she brought to this gave her nothing more than walking a fine line, the shallowest of margins between succeeding and failing. The privileged apparently got some support, she was sent down a difficult path. Her sneaking skills allowed her to pass by the wildlife without attracting attention. Those slugs were disgusting, but also rather dumb and she eventually outmaneuvered their colony. She absolutely hated slugs. If she had explosives on her, she would have left them a surprise. This planet seemed worse than Ryloth, but some rudimentary survival skills inherent to her upbringing allowed her to find some non-toxic water in a shallow cave and enough shade to go on. But when she was becoming confident she could make it, her foot was caught in a sandslide and pulled her all the way down into a canyon without any easy way out. Just great. At least she was not hurt or tired. --- Stealth: 2 successes, 1 advantage Survival: 0 successes Coordination: 1 failure Lost! |

After four days in her room . . . well, cell on the ship it was nice to be out in the wilderness. This wasn't Rodia. The total lack of rain forest and tropical swamp gave that away, but it was wilderness, and Grenda excelled in the wilderness. She ignored the other students. She didn't need their help on a simple task like this and she wasn't about to handhold some Imperial Noble that was frightened to get his best robes dusty. Her natural instincts and self trained abilities were more than a match for the disadvantageous route she'd been given by the stuck up Sith. Don't trust aliens? Pah, they no trust anyone. In fact she would have been the first back if she hadn't foolishly attracted the attention of a predator when she kicked a stone across the ground imagining it to be Overseer Thaine. That cost her an hour of sneaking to lose the lizard like thing that wanted to eat her. Still, just over an hour after she had set off, the Rodian found herself entering the Academy grounds, still feeling fresh. /ooc Welcome to Korriban: Roll 1 - Survival: 2eA+1eP+2eD+1eB 1 success, 2 advantage Welcome to Korriban: Roll 2 - Stealth: 2eA+1eP+2eD+1eB 0 successes Welcome to Korriban: Roll 3 - Coordination: 2eA+1eP+2eD+1eB 2 successes, 4 advantage 3 successes, 6 advantage = Success in 3 hours. /edit Factoring in Talent abilities halves that time to 1 1/2 hours. |

Post subject: | Re: [Day 1 - LM - Event] Welcome to Korriban |
The quiet Mirialan moved purposefully into the red wastes, keeping a wary eye out for danger from any direction--including her classmates. Sarna's knowledge of xenology immediately gave her an advantage over some aspirants. She used a combination of her awareness of predators and of her classmates' species's abilities to move quickly in the right direction. Straining a muscle in her right leg when part of a jagged hillside slid beneath her. Things were looking good at the two hour mark. As the heat of the day started to mount, Sarna's direction veered and, continuing to avoid predatory creatures, she never got quite back on track. By four hours into the effort, with patience running thin, the Mirialan resolved to dig deeper and get this thing done. She lightened her steps, gaining time and closing in on the academy--and missing the path that she needed. Her speed and skill was almost enough to reach the academy as instructed. But being close was little comfort to a seething Sarna when Imperial troopers picked her up from the wastes. She hurled a medium-sized rock at the dusty red horizon when she realized what the speeder sound meant. Gritting her teeth during the trip, she spoke barely a word to anyone. OOC: Roll 1: 2 successes, 1 threat. Roll 2: 1 failure. Roll 3: 0 success, 2 advantage. 1 strain, slightly lost in spite of making good time. Drat. |

Now this first test will be quite difficult for Rumun. This was clearly a survival test. One to cull the weak from the group. This was not the speciality of the tall duros. He was more of an intellectual guy. But he was determined to pass. This was the beginning of his journey to acquire his goals. He started walking, the harsh conditions of Korriban wastes were specially hard for him. The Duros were more akin to tropical moist worlds, or living in orbital stations. This climate was harsh. He wasted two hours walking without direction. Noticing that this approach will take him to nowhere, he started to do what he was good at. Knowledge. He was not particulary savvy in alien enviroments but he read something about Korriban during his past life. Extrapolating that knowledge about the patterns of creatures and conditions of the planet to his survival test he correctly deduced a pathway to the academy. Betting on his intelectual skills did payoff as the road was quite easy to traverse. Then he had to apply some rudimentary survival skills as he encountered a bifurcation. Spending some time meditating in which was the best way towards the academy he finally took the left road. His decision was the correct one. He finally arrived at the academy. A bit late and a bit tired, but he successfully pass this first test against all odds. *************** [OOC - Rolls] D1 - Event Mandatory; Resilience/Brawn; 1 Proficiency + 1 Dificulty + 1 Challenge [Rep] + 1 Setback [Rep]: 1eP+1eD+1eC+1eS 0 successes, 2 threat D1 - Event Mandatory Knowledge Xenology/Inteligence; 3 Ability; 1 Dificulty, 1 Challenge [rep]; 1 Setback [Rep] - 1 Setback [Researcher Talent]: 3eA+1eD+1eC 1 success, 1 advantage D1 - Event Mandatory; Survival/Cunning; Using Destiny Point to Upgrade 1 Dice; 1 Dificulty; 1 Challenge (Rep); 1 Setback: 1eA+1eP+1eD+1eC+1eS 1 failure, 1 threat, 1 Triumph 3 Strain points 4 1/2 Hours to reach the academy 1 destiny point used |

Outcome: Lost Stepping off the ship onto the hard ground of Korriban I knew that this was definitely not freedom... At least I was allowed to live a few more days then if I had been left to remain at the mercy of my former master. I was held back by one of the soldiers and have missed most of the welcome speech...something to the effect of wishing us dead and expecting us to find our way to this "School". 1st roll Survival (Cunning) Results: 3eA+1eD+1eC+1eS: 2 failures, 2 advantage [3eA=A/A, S, A] [1eD=Th] [1eC=F/F] [1eS=F] Thought of escape is on my mind. The leads prepare to leave and already some of the students are heading out. I turn back towards the shuttle as it will be my best shot of getting off this rock but I am stopped by the soldiers and told to get going or face the consequences. I notice the direction that his head nodes....at least I know the direction of the school. 2nd roll Stealth (Agility) Results 1eA+1eP+1eD+1eC+1eS: 1 failure, 1 threat, 1 Despair [1eA=-] [1eP=A/A] [1eD=Th/Th] [1eC=D] [1eS=Th] I sit and debate to myself if I should take the risk of not going to the school and heading into the wastes...Is there a city where I could try and get transport? I make up my decision and heading in the opposite direction of the "School" better to take my chances getting to freedom then be subject to whatever awaits me. After some time there is no sight of any remnant of civilization. There are strange creatures all around that I have never seen before. I feel the eyes of one stocking me and am able to get under a crevasse before its claws can rip into my flesh. Now to see who will get board first. 3rd roll Resilience (Brawn)2eA+1eD+1eC+1eS Results 2eA+1eD+1eC+1eS: 2 successes [2eA=A/A, S/S] [1eD=-] [1eC=Th] [1eS=Th] The creature is scared away by the sound of transport ship. I hear the Iron boots hit the ground and come walking over to my location. How they where able to find me I don't understand. One of the soldiers looks at me and states that trying to escape is punishable by death. I crawl out of the crevasse and state that I got lost then attacked. He raises the but of his weapon and slams it into my stomach, not due to the pain but I know that is what he expects....he hits like a girl, he tells me to get on the transport and to shut up. They are taking me to the academy. |
