The air goes still and then a shadow rises into a large ape like creature twice the size of a man, powerful massive arms and legs of darkened shadow. It is darkness come to life as the young aspirant screams and then sees her head smashed against the wall with great force.

It moves extremely fast and slashes a claw into Remmington with great force. The shadow creature never makes a sound.

OOC: The Thing, PC, PC, PC; Remmington takes 8 wounds after soak, creature has Pierce 2; it has Adversary 2, upgrades two difficulty dice and poses a setback due to its shadowy nature. I am spending 3 Destiny to upgrade this further, which if in melee adds another difficulty die for each PC.

Remmington heals himself and then disengages from the creature with a roll backwards and adopts a defense stance.

OOC: Remmington heals himself for 6 wounds and 2 Strain, still at 5 wounds Taken and 2 Critical Injuries. Disengage and then Guarded Stance. Vergence provides an extra Dark.

This thing, whatever the hell it was, could prove their undoing. Its combat potential was obviously greater than any of theirs, and those claws in particular posed an overwhelming danger. There was really only one thing to do, then.

Layne took a quick step to the side, then jumped forward as the dark void that was her saber arced across the space between her and the creature. It passed right through both of its vicious claws; and as it did, one could see how the very shadows from which those deadly talons were made got pulled from their form and absorbed by the blade. If this was a battle between shadow and darkness, the darkness was winning.

Sylvain charged forward her blue lightsaber rips through the creature with ease as it whips back and forth between the two warriors unsure of who to kill.

The shadow lashes out at Layne, although diminished it cuts deep rents through her flesh leaving behind sizzled flesh. Still it makes no sound.

Layne quickly pulled out a stimpack and injected herself in the leg with it, before trying to aim the saber for the claws again.

Kristal shifted left and right staying on the defensive as she lined up the perfect strike but missed as the shade dashed out of the way, but still her footwork kept her light and ready as she denied the ability to meld with shadows by shifting her lightsaber in a rhythmic dance.

Kristal steps forward, the blue blade of her lightsaber stretched out before her. "This ends now," she states with determination. Striking into the creatures backside as it tore into her comrade. There was a cool rage that she held, like a cold flame. Despite everything she thought of them, for this moment they were her comrades in arms. Kristal would not let them be wounded without retribution.

Perhaps it was her sheer confidence she exhumed, that cold anger, that brought down what would have been a total success to a moment tainted by Despair...

While the others pushed ahead with their attacks, Layne quickly injected herself with a 2nd stimpack before steadying her saber again. Had to make it count. Had to strike true.

Then she made an attack that was absolutely magnificent in its destructive potential, probably enough to slice an ordinary person clean in two and then some. Hopefully it'd have a similar effect on the creature, but if not, she made sure to twist and turn the saber to enhance the damage just a little bit more.

"You're nothing," she hissed at it.
