Death's Shadow 2: Electric Boogaloo Event Type: Mandatory, Combat Participants: Kristal, Layne, and Remmington Timeslots: Late Evening Reputation Affected: No Description: Cut to earlier just before entering. Overseer Thaine has gathered the three students and smiles sweetly saying, “Somehow Death’s Shadow has gotten into the restricted tombs right here in the Academy. Darth Acomo is livid, and has commanded me to handle it. So I’m commanding you to handle it.” “Now I won’t hear any nonsense about it being an unstoppable killing predator. Just because he probably has ten inch fangs and an insatiable appetite for murder does not mean I will accept cowardice. Failure is not an option. Get in there and remove this threat to the academy, or die trying.” “Now get going.” You enter the tombs lit by torch light and some lights placed by security but deeper in it is nearly pitch black and the dark side is strong here. OOC: Combat will not start immediately have time for roleplay or planning in the tombs. The vergence rules are in effect. |

"What? I've already proven I'm not a coward." Naturally, Overseer Thaine had insisted. Naturally, Layne had resisted. But eventually, it had become clear she wouldn't be able to just duck out altogether and she was sent into the tomb. At least she wasn't alone; she was right here with... Oh shit "So..." |

Overseer Thaine didn't want them to kill Death's Shadow, that much to her was clear. Perhaps, she hoped, she merely underestimated those she was sending in together. Working with people whom she did not know their strengths, this would prove most difficult. Still, a soldier, a leader, never quit. "I have no intention to die in this tomb," Kristal stated. Standing there she looked out into the dark abyss for a long moment than turned to the two she would have much rather not had as her comrades today, but such was the deck stacked against her. "What are your abilities, each of you?" she asked, already attempting to plot out a plan in her head. Though she could assume Layne's based on prior experience to assume something now would be a foolish move and a Serasai was not foolish. |

"Neither do I," she said with a glare. "But since you're here with us, that probably means she either wants you dead, or you're working with her." Layne wasn't the brightest lightsaber in the bunch. No really, her lightsaber was dark as could be. But she'd been expecting overseer Thaine to try something like this; and Kristal was one of the "popular" kids, so her being in cahoots with Thaine seemed perfectly plausible. Remmington on the other hand, seemed like the sort of person who was just in the wrong place, wrong time. "If it's the latter, we have a problem. If it's the former, I might just start liking you." She pulled out her lightsaber and activated it; the black blade; shaped more like a genuine sword than a traditional lightsaber; humming at a higher pitch than standard. It seemed to draw in all the light around its unusual shape, leaving a white outline surrounding an inner void. "This. This is what I'm good at. I'm agile too." Layne deactivated the saber again. "Not that that does us a load of good in this cramped space." |

"Then you will have to get used to liking me," she said with that high Imperial accent of hers. Kristal took a place in front of the both of them, standing as equally between both Remmington and Layne as she could. Projecting her voice a bit. "We are here because Overseer Thaine wants us to perish in these caves," Kristal looked between the both of them, "I do not know what it is either of you have done to merit this but from my own experience it seems our lovely Overseer is one to hold a grudge over something rather petty." Admiring the blade for a moment, Kristal smirked, "That is much better, but it may prove your agility will be more of a boon. You might be surprised what might be useful in our situation." |

"We'll see," she said in response to having to get used to liking her. "Anyway, she already tried to kill me once. Twice if I count that lame-ass attempt at the party and..." Something popped into her head, and she brought a hand to her face. "Aw shit. Didn't I hear something about someone already taking out this thing, like, a week ago? What gives?" |

Remmington offers a polite bow to the others. "Evening acolyte Serasi, acolyte Hoshin. I'm surprised that you are here acolyte Serasi. I heard you beat a jedi so what did you do to get here?" He looks at Layne. "Hmm... that is a pretty unique saber. Have you made it yours yet?" "As for me... I don't think she is so petty. All I did was ask if I could borrow a speeder and she demanded a bribe. The only person I can think of that has it out for me right now is Queen Torsin." He does a quick check of the stuff he has with him. He checks the training saber that he is carrying with him. Then he takes out a datapad and he starts looking over the info that he has on the Tombs. "I heard something like that too. If may require lightsabers or Force abilities to kill completely. Or it may not be able to be killed like a ghost so we may need to figure out a way to seal it. Either way, I don't think this training saber is going to cut it." |

"Agility and..." Kristal goes silent there, thinking for a moment. Turning she looks deeper into the cave, the walls, determining if perhaps maybe these might be able to be used against the creature. Turning back to them, she offered insight into her plan, "It would be wise to avoid this creature altogether. I have no desire to become it's next meal. Evade it, as best we can if possible, and lure it into a trap of some kind. That should be our move." Kristal ignored the comments on how this creature was rumored dead, it was useless to them now as she saw it. After all, she had insight into just how off those rumors could be. Knowing full well the true story of how that Jedi died. |

"That would be for the best." Remmington nods. "Though the Academy probably doesn't want us to come back empty handed... plus I am thinking this creature may be on the hunt." He quickly reviews what maps he may have as well as his notes. |

The maps give a basic layout of the tombs which are like a labyrinth, whoever built this subscribed to the idea of confusing the dead by making the place a maze with many switch backs and dead ends and false tomb rooms. What catches the eye though is a trail of blood on the stone floor. |

She didn't exactly like the idea of listening to Kristal; but the girl was making some sense. "So, what do you suggest then? It's not like we have any explosives or anything, right?" Because traps always involved explosives, apparently. |

"Unfortunately I left my explosives in my other jacket Layne. If we find something mechanical, maybe I could figure out how to make it explode. Though to be honest I don't think it will have much effect on something that doesn't know how to stay dead." Remmington replies. "Hmm... this place is a rat maze. Plus I think we just found our lead." He looks at the trail of blood. |

"Do we follow it?" ((the sooner we get this show on the road the better I think. Unless we want at least one of us to pass out in the middle of combat)) |

The trail of blood leads around a corner to a long hall with a human laying against the wall with blood pooling and vicious injuries with deep rent and cuts through her upper body. She feebly holds up a sword and says, “Did she… she send aid?” |

"If you want to call it that," she said to the injured woman upon the group finding her. She didn't know much about medicine, but that looked like it was way worse than what could be fixed with a simple stimpack. "So, who the hell are you, and what happened?" |

“Name’s Tala, Overseer said if I came in here to get a relic she’d bump me up… put in a good word, there I something in here. It’s big… got claws fast,” she says through pained winces. “I think I’m dying.” |

While Remmington did his thing, Layne decided to keep questioning her. "First. What relic?" Seems like a worthwhile prize for all this, perhaps "Second, tell us everything you can about this creature." |

“A sword… Conqueror’s sword… yeah,” she coughs blood as she speaks. “I didn’t get very far… there is something in that chamber ahead.” |

Kristal saw no reason to crowd the woman as she lay there, likely dying. Though that didn't stop her from listening. Though, she didn't intend to waste time just standing here, she was going to prepare herself in case of the worst. At tuning to the force she prepared her senses, allowing herself to be more prepared for anything they faced. [Can't roll, but with the vergence I can't really fail the roll so, Commit to sense for that defense thingie] |

A sword had potential, but was also the sort of thing that the students might fight over; so it wasn't necessarily too desirable in their current circumstances. She flipped on her lightsaber upon hearing the thing was in the chamber up ahead. Best be prepared in case the creature decided to follow the blood. "Alright, how do you guys want to handle this?" |

"I'm borrowing this." Remmington goes to take the sword out of Tala's hand. He quickly cuts up her clothes in total disregard to her modesty. He quickly analyzes her wounds and starts to bandage her. When she mentions the sword his hand slips a little which may cause her some pain. The bleeding won't stop on its own. Though with the bandages on he can help out without the others noticing. He reaches out to the Force and her wounds mend albeit with some scarring most likely unless she drops by the medical bay. "How are you feeling Tala? If you are good enough to move I suggest to tell us everything you can and then get to the medical bay as soon as you can." Looking to Layne's question. "If we do find that sword I guess I can grab it. It may actually do something against the Shadow unlike a training saber. Somehow I don't think we'll get that lucky. I can probably try to help from the back by giving directions at least so we don't wind up trapped in a dead end." Medicine/Int. 3eA+3eD+1eS = 0 successes, 1 threat Force Heal, 1st time. 1eF = 1 Light Side +1 Dark Side due to Vergence. 1 Destiny to use. 1 Strain. 1 Conflict. Force Heal, 2nd time. 1eF = 1 Dark Side +1 Dark Side due to Vergence. Tala healed 12 Wounds. Stepping out for a bit. |

The air becomes cold and something steeped in dark side energy draws near. OOC: Fear Roll at Hard, Cool or Discipline, I am spending Destiny for each to raise the stakes so Upgrade the difficulty. |

Sensing the change, Layne's muscles tensed up as she prepared to be ambushed. There was no fear; but that wasn't to say this was going to be a walk in the park either. Things were about to get intense. Fear Check (upgraded difficulty): 3eA+2eD+1eC 1 success, 3 threat (3 strain taken, at 4 strain) (adopting a defensive stance in case we get jumped) |
