Communication

Face to face conversation is still quite common but there are many devices that allow for communication over great distances even distant star systems. This means that characters can talk to each other from different locations in game and not be in the same thread.

Here is the proces:

  1. Create your post, once created then send a private message to the recipient. Make sure the message you are sending is in the forum post.
  2. The recipient should put the incoming message into their post, if they have a thread in that time slot. The reply should be in the same post and then send a PM back to the other party.
  3. This process goes back and forth until the conversation is done.

Keep in mind there may be outside influences that can obstruct communication, this will be noted by the GM usually beforehand. Overcoming the obstruction may require a Mechanics or Computer roll.

An Example:

Quote:
Lord Imar reclined in his office and reached out to the student, Hun. The communicator hummed quietly as he spoke, “Hun, I have a proposition for you.”

In Hun’s Thread:
Quote:
Hun frowned as his communicator beeped, he pulled it out and activated it showing a holographic image of Lord Imar. Imar said, “Hun, I have a proposition for you.”

Hun nodded his head respectfully and said, “My Lord, I… I live to serve.”

Back in Lord Imar’s Thread:

Quote:
Imar smiled at the student’s subservience. He heard Hun say through the hologram, “My Lord, I… I live to serve.”

“Good,” Lord Imar said and then added, “I have need of a worm like you, you seek to better your place and I need a message sent to one who thinks they are beyond my reach. I trust you know of who I speak?”

The conversation will continue in this way until it is concluded. Typically communication is via voice or holographic image. Despite the advances elsewhere the Holographic technology tends to be grainy and lower resolution than other media, it can handle multiple inputs though in the case of a hand held unit it simply switches to whoever is speaking. Text messaging is available but does not seem as popular as voice or holo-calls.
