It was first thing in what was considered the morning by Galactic Standard time, Korriban's schedule be damned. A large athletic-looking sith was sitting at a table covered in books, maps, and datapads. They had various titles: he seemed to switch between them depending on his mood. Every so often he would place the item he was reading on the floor, and read it while doing a series of press-ups, or rest it against a chair leg so he could read while doing crunches.

Assorted titles included:
- Yavin 4 and the Massassi
- Ancient sith: A Primer (aka 'Ancient Sith for slightly more advanced dummies')
- The Journals of the Sith ascetic, Yunkai Mun
- The Legend of Exar Kun

If anyone asked he was improving body, mind, and spirit. It was something he had read about in the book of the lightsaber savant.

Jun-Tsu was off in the wastes communing with unspeakable powers and unholy abominations and thus was not in the library. But atromech droid R3-G3 was no so occupied - or was it - and would -most likely- be in the library.

R3-G3 brings the books to the aspirant and says, "Boop beep whirrr whooor, broop beep bim."*

*-Hear are the texts as requested, sith-person.-*

"Thanks metal dude." Jo'ren leapt to his feet and collected them from the droid, doing a few internal exercises as he flicked through the various books.

He had the sense that there was something worthwhile to be had in all of this, although for right now he wasn't exactly sure what. So he started flipping through the books on Yavin and Exar Kun, occasionally pausing to adjust his stance or do some reps.

Some time passed and Jo'ren switched to a new position, dropping the books in the process. "Damn it. Lost my pages."

Perhaps he found something else though...

“Page 246 would be of interest to you, it has pictures,” Lord Savas says.

Jo'ren picked up the books and cracked his neck muscles before turning to face Lord Savas. "That's right my Lord, I realise it's something of a surprise, but I'm doing some research."

He sat back down at the table. "I figure if we're going to the Yavin system I should know as much as possible about it before we get there." Plus all the stuff about Exar Kun was pretty cool.

“Let me guess, you have a sudden desire to know everything about Exar Kun,” Savas says with a sigh.

Jo'ren was about to argue with the old man but remembered what the book had been teaching him. It wasn't really sudden. It was just that he hasn't expected to have the opportunity to visit quite so soon.

"Supposedly he invented the double-bladed lightsaber, but I read in one of the contemporary accounts that he probably learned how to make it from an ancient Sith holocron.". He paused for breath and spread his arms. "Well, we are going to the planet he died on my Lord. So I'm trying to learn about both before we get there."

"What do you believe, aspirant?" he asks.

He took a deep breath and released it slowly. "I think that most of what we hear about Exar Kun these days is mythology. The contemporary account is probably accurate. He likely found the information on lightsaber variants in an old Sith holocron that he looted. You've said yourself that lightsaber technology has been around for a very long time, and hasn't changed all that much. Still, he was an expert duelist, who combined mastery of the force with mastery of his chosen weapon. That comes through in the myths and the contemporary accounts. It's the goal that I aspire to as well."

He waited for the inevitable sarcasm and/or put down with newly developed poise and dignity.

"Then as I said, aspirant. Page 246," he says and continues along tapping with his cane, the slave following dutifully.

Jo'ren lifted a hand ready to ward off the put-down, which never came. Although it could have just been above his head. "Ah, right. Thank you my Lord."

As the peculiar old (?) man and his slave walked off Jo'ren dutifully opened up the book and flicked through to page 246. He half expected to find a sarcastic handwritten note. Instead the page revealed something else entirely...

The page speaks of a small temple where it is supposed that Exar Kun found the holocron. It seems that it was never corroborated but it describes the temple in detail with a rough location and mention of some guardian.

It is unclear what that guardian is.

Raising his head he looked over toward the echoing sound of Lord Savas' cane. Alrighty then. He read through the section several times and then began cross-referencing the location with the maps he had found in the other book. It was rough, but he figured a couple of hours of searching in that area would do the trick.

Mentally he prepared a list of equipment that he might possibly need for the expedition. It was all stuff that could be bought here before they left. "Hey R3, I'm checking these books out okay? And can you bring me anything we've got on the Massassi? Thanks buddy."

Perhaps they would give him an idea about what this guardian might be. Perhaps it was long-dead... No, who was he kidding? If there was anything left of value, any hint of power in that place, something would have been drawn to it after all these years. He smiled slowly. Nothing worthwhile was without risk.
