Dig-Dug

Event Type: Mandatory, Exam
Participants: All
Timeslots: Late Afternoon and Early Evening

Reputation Affected: Yes
Description: Characters can work together in groups of two, any player that works by themselves can do so but there is no benefit to it. Players can work together using assistance rolls on the following rolls. Lowest Reputation counts against the group. Characters need to succeed at 1 roll to get a normal success, to get a Triumph success they need to return with a Relic and complete at least 2 rolls successfully. You can create a fresh thread in this form if doing this as a group.

  • Doing the Research: This stage requires a Lore, Xenology, or Outer Rim roll at Average difficulty. This is to identify a possible relic or knowledge to get out of the dig site. A player can opt to cheat by hacking the database with Computers or Skullduggery check at Hard difficulty. Gaining a success at this stage identifies a target. Failure gives a setback die to the rest of the rolls, unless you choose the Screw This route.
  • Only the penitent will pass: This stage requires a Survival to navigate, Skullduggery to avoid traps, or Leadership to organize slaves on the dig; these are all at Average difficulty with a setback die. A success at this stage means you found a relic or piece of knowledge to bring back, go to The Find. A failure here means you found something but you have no idea if it is actually worth anything. Roll a Force die, dark side means they found something, light means they found nothing, but they can pass it off as something with Yeah it’s Valuable. Seek or Foresee can be used as well and grants a success.
  • The Find: This stage requires a Lore to verify it, Outer Rim, to verify it, or Negotiation to work out the proper value at Average difficulty. Success here means they have an actual find. Failure means it is dismissed.
  • Yeah it’s Valuable: This stage requires a Deception to simply lie about it, Skullduggery to pass it off as valuable, or Negotiation to simply work out a good price at Average difficulty. Success means you have a good “find”. Failure means you have junk.
  • Screw This: You can make a Combat check to simply beat up a student and take their relic, Deception to swindle a student out of their relic, or Coercion or Influence to simply force a student to give up the relic. If you succeed you gain a success and an exam point, this method cannot get a Triumph victory. You can choose this path after completing the first step, success or fail.

Rewards: Normal success will grant the player 1 Graduation point. Triumph success will grant the player 1 Graduation Point and access to one free up to 10 point Talent or Force Power, this can unlock a new Force ability.

Destiny used: Zeno Deathwright, Sylvain Torsin, Moyr Ahaya, Kristal Serasai, Rumun Gol, and Leilani Miraan have a destiny used against to upgrade the difficulty of 1 roll of their choice.

Jo'ren Rath walked out into the dig site on his own because he's Jo'ren freaking Rath!

Delving into the depths of ancient Lore was easy for Jo'ren, because everything is easy for Jo'ren (it's a widely believed fact). He's pretty dreamy too, they said so on the Imperial News Network. A flick through the tomes of ancient lore and he found a thingy of ultimate wassname.

It was the easiest thing in the world for Jo'ren Rath to find the super-duper amazing ancient artifact of doom, He just walked in a straight line until he found it. What was all the fuss about exactly? Archeology was easy. There it was: sticking up out of the ground. Clutched in a skeletal hand.

Returning with the relic he presented it to Lord Savas, who barely looked at. Jo'ren asked him if he wanted to take a proper look at it. Lord Savas did not. Jo'ren asked if this was about the collected works of Darth Charon, and the not reading thereof. Lord Savas shrugged. Jo'ren Rath shrugged and threw the artifact over his shoulder, and over the cliff, where a small explosion could be heard abut 30 seconds later. Lord Savas sighed and returned to dealing with other students.

Day 5. Dig event. Rep bonuses (1 upgrade, 2 bonus). Doing the Research: Lore, average.: 1eA+1eP+2eD+2eB 3 successes, 2 threat
ImageImageImageImageImageImage

3 successes! Target identified.

Day 5. Dig event. Rep bonuses (1 upgrade, 2 bonus). Only the penitent will pass: Survival, average, setback: 1eA+1eP+2eD+2eB+1eS 2 successes, 1 advantage
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

2 successes, one advantage! Relic obtained.

Day 5. Dig event. Rep bonuses (1 upgrade, 2 bonus). The Find: Lore, average.: 1eA+1eP+2eD+2eB 0 successes, 6 advantage
ImageImageImageImageImageImage

0 successes, 6 advantages! Relic dismissed.

-----

2 successes and a relic returned; +1 Graduation point and a Triumph victory, but Triumph denied due to Galactic levels of awesomeness. Jo'ren hangs out for the rest of the time slot looking cool and such.

Rumun was fascinated with the prospect of searching for Sith relics. This was a topic that made his heart beat. But the odds were against him. First, the entire group that was with him were racists imperials, so for starters nobody wanted to team up with an alien.

He tried to debate with some people about the nature of the relics and where to find them. But with their racial prejudice there was no way to convince them about where to start diggin.

This was going to be very difficult. Not only the Imperials or other aspirants were against him, the slaves as well. They heard the rumor that Rumun was part of the group that killed and smashed the slave rebelion yesterday. Being a former slave himself, the other aliens and slaves refused to work or simple wasted Rumun's time, sabotaging his intents to find anything.

Ok, so no help from aspirants, slaves and imperials. Rumun concentrated in the force and felt something. He found what appears to be a legit relic but he didn't know what was it.

He tried to identify this item for many hours until he discovered that it was a piece of junk.

He failed once again.

Thorne shows up and says no, not doing this and just winks at the Imperial soldier assisting Lord Savas. The soldier hands her a book and makes some marks granting Thorne approval and success. Thorne takes the book back behind some storage containers uses it as a pillow and takes a nap.

OOC: Uses her Boon to pass the exam. 1 Graduation Point.

Gerald is not much an explorer but he does determine a proper relic to bring back, except he can’t figure out where it is. So he brings back what he thinks is a piece of an ancient fresco but Lord Savas forced lighting the junk into oblivion.

Well at least he passed.
