The Dark Academy on Korriban

In the camp, Jun-Tsu sat at a small fire, her tent not far away. She rested out of the warm rain under a synthetic canopy with an open smoke flap. Idly she poked at the wet timber that she used to start the fire. For the moment it did little more than smoke and pop, but soon it would burn, just like the rest. Her mind drifted to reflections on the past, musings on the future, and the possibilities that laid there. She lost herself in reverie, the quiet buzz of dozens of voices chatting, lulling her out of her senses and deeper into contemplation.

Remmington decides to come back to the safety of camp in order to get his daily ration and eat it in relative safety. He heads over to where Jun-Tsu and her tent is. Seeing her by the fire he smiles warmly at her when he approaches. "Mind if I join you Jun-Tsu? Did you eat yet?"

It took her a moment to pull herself out of her own mind, but she did so, half-hearing what Rem had said. "Hm? Yes," she nodded, as she caught up.

"Und Ser Desvright vas kind enough to give me a bit more." She looked down into the dancing fire, "I told him....about our child. It zeemed only right."

Remmington sits down beside Jun-Tsu and eats while he listens. "That was kind of him. I didn't know that you are in a relationship with him. Is he looking to join House Farro?"

At the mention of a child he smiles brightly. "So we were successful. Wonderful! Can you tell me more about it?" He puts his hand on hers.

"It iz too early yet, but life grows." She assured him.

"Az for Ser Desvright, it iz....complicated. Much like you and I, und young Ser Torsin. Zhere are many who have made overtures to learn or aid House Farro rise again to prominence. Vhat zhe future holds is ztill uncertain, but all zhree of you are great boons to mein house. But joining....I do not zhink zhat any of you vish to truly join House Farro in full."

Remmington nods. "That is a shame. Zeno seems the type that follows his primal instincts. Acolyte Torsin on the other hand sounds like he is a man of ambition and looking out only for himself. If I didn't already have Niriti I would have gladly joined your house Jun-Tsu. If you let me of course." He smiles at that.

"Have you been with anyone else? I have only been with Niriti so far."

"Been vith? You mean sexually?" She was not one for cultural shame. Rem knew that about House Farro who were known for their bestial rites and primal morality.

"I have been with both. But you needn't worry. Zhe vays of zhe Dark Side und my training vith great-grandmuter assure me zhat zhe child iz yourz."

Remmington nods at the information. "That is good to know. Please keep me informed of any developments with your lovers and our child. I will keep you informed with any developments on my end as well."

"Do you think that all your exposure to the engine will affect our child as well?" He asks as the thought comes up.

"More zhan you can possibly know," she said cryptically. "I've plans for our child, to increase zhe boon ve have already giwen it. Vith zhe aid of zhe Dark Side, I beliewe I can transfer zhe powver of zhe Woid Engine into zhe life zhat grows vithin me. It will be taxing und painful but zhat iz zhe vay of zhe Dark-light."

She looked over at Rem, "Leave it to me."

Remmington looks at Jun-Tsu and nods. He places a hand gently on hers. "Very well. I will leave that to you. In that case may I have the honours of coming up with a name?" He mixes in surprisingly familial response in with all the foreboding darkness they are just speaking about.

"I zuppose I could take your zuggestion," she acquiesced mildly.

Remmington nods. "Since we do not know the gender yet I will come up with a suggestion for each. For a boy then I wish for him to be named Colt. I desire for our daughter to be named Beretta."

"Zhose are Thalalas und Balmung names, are zhey not? I vas hoping for zomezhing more in keeping vith zhe vays of mein House."

"What would you suggest then Jun-Tsu?" Remmington thinks for a moment. "How about a compromise then? We both choose a name. One of them will be the middle name of the child and the other will be the given."

She pondered, "I have giwen little zhought to a name. You know it iz custom to name zhe child only after zhe first veek, after meditation vith zhe Dark Side. But, I zuppose I can indulge zhis old Balmung custom. Perhaps....Howa-Min? It vorks for a boy or a girl on Korriz."

She smiled, rolling the name around in her mouth, "Howa-Min Farro."

"Will that be their given name or middle name? I am fine with my choice being the middle name." Remmington then smiles.

"Howa-Min Farro does have a nice ring to it I admit." He ponders some more. "Howa-Min Beretta / Colt Farro."

She touched her stomach where the microscopic zygote resided. "Zhe Farro do not have 'middle' namez. I zhink it vould be most appropriate zhat it be zhe Balmung who give her one."

She smiled, "Und it vill be a girl. I can sense it already. Zhe Umbră-Ușoară tells me zhe future. Just a hint."

"I can give her the name of my House then until she is accepted back into the Farro then." Remmington smiles as he lays his hand on top of Jun-Tsu's belly to feel their child for himself.

It was unfair to call the thing that resided within her a child in any sense of the word. It was possibility, potential, that resided there in its slowly dividing state. But, Rem's sensitivity to life energies, much like Jun-Tsu, made him able to at least sense that such a thing grew in her womb. Then again, if he had not known what to sense for he would never have felt it so tiny was the life within it, occluded by the powerful dark energies of its mother.

"Zhat iz fair. Teach her zhe vays of the Balmung, zhough," she hung her head slightly, "if zhis child iz as powverful as I beliewe her to be, great-grandmuter may make special arrangements. She may be allowed to be raised among zhe Farro because of her remarkable connection to zhe Dark Side. But I do not know for zure, it iz only a possibility."

Remmington feels for it. All the channeling of Dark Side energy from their rituals made it easy to tell apart. He nods his head. "I look forward to a galaxy full of opportunities for our child. If you great-grandmother approves then that will be great. I will drop by to teach her my side of her lineage as well."

"Depending, zhis may svay mein great-grandmuter to share vith you zome of zhe zecrets of zhe Farro. Perhapz ewen allow you to spiritually join vith our houze. Not enough to be v'one of uz...unless zhat iz your ewentual vish, but enough to allow you admittance into our sacred family ritualz."

Remmington nods with a smile. "I will like to Jun-Tsu. I already consider House Farro to be part of my family. Making it a bit more official will be a blessing indeed." He puts his hand gently on hers and holds it.

"You know ve've alvays zhought vondly of your vater und his lineage. You have been to our planet and partaken of our rituals dozens of times before. I zhink, at zhis point, it iz long zince due zhat you vere made an official wassal-companion of zhe Farro."

"Thanks Jun-Tsu. That means a lot to me." Remmington holds her hand and leans over to kiss her softly.

"Have you told your family the good news yet? I will probably contact my mother once we leave Yavin."

She shook her head, "I remain unzertain of vhat mein great-grandmuter's reaction vill be. Vhile hesitation breedz doubt, I'we allowed meinzelf a veek to prepare for pozzible outcomes."

Her eyes turned towards the canvas canopy above them, staving off the rain, "I imagine mein great-grandmuter vill be pleazed, but she iz a mercurial voman, und v'one who enjoyz an orderliness to her planz. She may zee thiz either az a great boon, vhich I expect she vill, or az a ripple in zhe pond."
