Something has breached the ancient temple! Jaina Von can’t desert the students so it is up to you to track down the interlopers and stop them from whatever they are doing!

OOC: Combat event open to three Players. Cannot participate in the Final Stand.

Hearing a call of something slipping past the lines, Kristal was one of the few who managed to separate themselves from the major conflict outside. Seeing the strength of the opening round from the Imperial lines she felt confident enough to leave the front lines to those already fighting alongside the Imperial soldiers.

The greatest threat was certainly whatever managed to slip past the defenses so quickly. That could unravel everything if they weren't careful. With those facts in mind Kristal Serasai gave pursuit.

With the instincts of a hunter, the . . . . . . . . . Hunter slipped away from the front lines to the barely perceived threat to the rear.

With blaster carbine drawn and at the ready the Rodian stepped quietly into the temple, sticking to the darker edges as best she could.

Not particularly keen on slaughtering the natives anyhow; as remarkable an admission as that might be coming from her; Layne found herself heading inside at Jaina's orders to go check out whatever it was that might end up being a threat to the entire operation. Saber lit, she advanced.

The trio descends into the temple and navigates after the sounds of the invaders but when they reach a square chamber some hundred meters across with stone pillars and statues to Sith Lords they find a squad of Republic soldiers taking cover while someone works at a console with a wookiee pacing back and forth.

She growls at the soldiers and then turns to see the trio and ignites a double bladed light saber.

The soldiers fan out and take cover in two squads while the twi’lek slicing the console ducks down to try and not be killed in the fray.

OOC: The twi'lek slicer is at extreme range while the wookiee jedi and and two squads of Republic marines are at medium range behind cover.

The Rodian remained as quiet as the hunter should. One sucker tipped finger checked the safety was in the correct position on her carbine.

ie removed and left on Rodia in a dark hole years ago.

Not good. Layne's darksaber hummed along nicely, but she still took out the ancient sword she'd found in the vault to provide it with some backup.

A wookie with a lighsaber? Now I've seen everything.

"You're outnumbered," she said. Well, obviously they weren't, but it felt good to say. "Drop your weapons and live."

Kristal Serasai was raised learning how to wield a true and proper sword. She was a warrior. All Serasai were. Learning discipline young each of the heads of her house have risen to greatness, if only on a personal level. Kristal believed in those teachings. Honor, Vigilance, Duty. Testing oneself was the best way to move forward. That was something the Sith took to excess, but it allowed some semblance of purpose to flow into her own teachings.

Kristal was ready, more than ready, the Jedi in that installation was a mad dog. Only a taste of a true and proper Jedi. Today, directly or indirectly, she would get a chance at something she always wanted but never quite would admit as it clashed against a few of her other values.

"I have always wanted to test myself against a true Jedi," she admitted.

Removing her lightsaber from her belt she held it out. Perhaps even to display it well for the Jedi, and the Republic to see. Igniting it caused a Blue blade to extend. Everything about it, perhaps even from this distance, indicated it was of Jedi make and design. Whether that would inspire Fear, or Hate, or thoughts that perhaps this one Sith just really really liked the color Blue it didn't quite matter.

The wookiee takes two steps and then leaps the distance between her and Kristal and lands lightly before her spinning her lightsaber over her head and bringing it down in on the Sith aspirant doing vicious damage the lightsaber cleaving off her left arm at the elbow as easily if she was cutting butter!

Meanwhile the republic marines unleash volley of fire at Layne as they opt to keep their distance from the vicious looking Sith. They keep the pressure on and hamper her mobility.

OOC: Kristal suffers 10 wounds and suffers a critical injury, she is Maimed and loses part of her left arm. Layne suffers 6 wounds after soak and a setback die to the Advantage rolled. Wookiee Jedi has Adversary 1 and Melee Defense 1, Republic Marines have Cover giving them Ranged Defense 1. Wookie Jedi is engaged with Kristal.

With the surprising leap forward and speed Kristal had no time to create a proper defense for herself. Protecting the core of her body as best she can by instinct, all the important parts. Unfortunately that didn't quite include her arm which felt as if it merely disappeared in the action of it all. Kristal couldn't feel it. To be honest though, she couldn't feel much of anything as adrenaline and shock kicked in. Instincts were swallowed and the trained warrior took over.

Lunging into the combat there was only one thing on her mind. Taking down this Jedi. It was simple survival as she had quickly realized. Agony could come later. Dropping at her knees Kristal lowered herself for a savage strike at the wookies lower core. Cutting deep, but not deep enough.

Incidental: Be in shock at the sudden weightlessness of her left hand.
Manuever: Aim x 2
Action: Attack

The wookiee roars as her lightsaber a bit surprised at the color biting deep into her flesh. She uses her double bladed lightsaber to shift the strike from being mortal but still she suffers pain.

OOC: She uses Parry and suffers a total of 5 wounds and a Critical Injury for a total of 7 wounds and is now Compromised.

Being shot at sucked; and as much as she'd have liked to be the one to fight the wookie jedi, she recognized the fact that the soldiers were a solid enough threat that they had to be removed from the equation. Thus, with both weapons drawn, she rushed toward the group that had dared hurt her. Hopping over their cover, her black saber arced through the group while the other black weapon, the ancient sword, went unused.

Lightsaber/Brawn, (blade of woe, setback removed) DESTINY! Two weapon fighting: 1eA+3eP+3eD 5 successes, 1 threat

(2 strain for two maneuvers to close distance. 13 damage inflicted (darksaber has 8 base damage). Fearsome (simple check) activated on any remaining soldiers at engaged rate. Layne has Melee Defense 1, Soak 5, and is at 6 wounds/3 strain)

Layne cuts through two marines with ease, her black energy blade slicing through their armor as if it was nothing. The remaining two marines assess the situation, and that situation is not good.

The other squad decides to pin down rodian with the rifle, they adjust their firing arc and unleash a hail of blasters with deadly accuracy but such determined focus blinds them to the vagaries of the chaotic situation.

OOC: Layne kills 2 marines dealing 13 wounds, 2 remain. The other Marines shoot at Grenda and deal 11 damage, 9 wounds after soak but the marines #1 suffer a setback die to their next action.

Badly wounded Grenda scrambles for cover diving in the hail of blaster. She pulls out a stimpack and stabs it before taking a second and sensing a lull she turns and fires her carbine!

She strikes true with a pinpoint accurate blast that causes the marine to shoot wildly in her death throes and damage a pillar which comes crashing down nearly crushing Layne causing her to dive away from the marines she was currently trying to massacre.

OOC: Grenda does 7 wounds after soak killing 1 one of the marines in Marine squad #1. using three threat to cause a pillar to fall driving Layne from being engaged with Marines #2, she is now at Short range. Grenda uses a maneuver to get into Cover and 2 strain to use a stimpack, currently at 4 wounds taken.

The twi’lek ducks down to keep from being shot and tries to frantically work but can’t find a way into the antiquated system. He scowled and continued hoping the Republic forces could hold out.

OOC: Maneuver to get into Cover, failed his slicing roll and sustains a single wound from threat as he has not strain. He is still at extreme range from everyone but Layne who is at long range. End of Round 1.

The Jedi wookiee uses a stimpak to keep her moving and then sroll and keeps the one armed Sith on the defensive spinning her double bladed lightsaber in a fearsome display of power but fails to do anything more than keep Kristal off balance.

The energy blades connect and the wookiee grabs her remaining hand and twists it causing Kristal’s lightsaber to clatter to the stone floor.

Meanwhile the marines fall back towards more pillars but are not able to take cover yet as they fire on Layne to cover their retreat. They don’t strike her but force her to dive to the ground buying them time to get behind cover.

OOC: Maneuver for stimpack and is back to 2 wounds now. She fails to hit but uses advantage to cause Kristal to drop her weapon. With Layne not being Engaged, Fearsome does not proc. Using Triumph to knock Layne prone, 2 advantage to allow marines #2 to use a maneuver to take Cover, they are now at Medium range to Layne.

As the wookie pulled her wrist to the side forcing her to drop her Saber Kristal made a play. Twisting with the motion and delivering a quick knee to the wookies side. Forcing her to let Kristal go. In the scramble Kristal reached for her weapon and on the turn back up aimed across the wookies torso, striking up the center of her torso. Cutting deep.


Incidental: Look angry.
Manuever: Aim, Grab Dropped Saber [-2 Strain]

Taking advantage of the whole being on the ground and out of immediate danger, Layne grabs a stimpack and injects herself with it; before forcing herself back up. She looked pissed. Not to mention scary as hell with those two black blades of hers, staring down the soldiers.

"Surrender. Or die."

The wookiee roars at the pain from the damage inflicted by Kristal while the marines consider their options and although terrified to their core by this mad Sith woman they will do their duty.

The other squad of marines fire at Grenda but her cover buys her plenty of defense and none of the blaster shots find her!

OOC: Wookiee is at 2 Critical Injuries and 10 damage. Wookiee Rage engaged. Marines #2 suffer 2 setback dice on their next check due to the menace from Layne. The other Marines fire at Grenda but miss completely, but still behind Cover.
