"Fuck. This. Noise." Jo'ren didn't enjoy the plunge as much as he had hoped. "Woohoo!" But the actual flying was great fun. "Mother#@"*** piece of @#-;"£!!!" He ended up landing way off target though, so the hike to the camp was a real slog. No broken bones though, so that was nice. Day 9. Count to Three: Discipline check at average: 1eA+2eP+2eD 0 successes, 1 advantage Day 9. Piloting average 2 setback: 2eA+1eP+2eD+2eS 1 success Day 9. Stick the landing. Athletics. Destiny. Preparing for something daunting like this was never something that could shake a Serasai, certainly not Kristal. Given it didn't come as a surprise due to Harad just made it all the more simple to prepare herself for the jump. With that, on the count she launched herself from the jump platform. Piloting was never her strong suit. More so under these difficult weather environments. Kristal was going off course, but she pulled hard to bring her back on target nearing the end toward a open area at least. Sticking the landing went well right up until the last moment the wind still kept in the chute and dragged her forward off a small cliff. Unable to pull herself from the path of it in time Kristal went tumbling down. Receiving a rather nasty sprain. Luck had brought her close, but making her way there was going to be an agonizing process. Zeno was trained for this. He'd done this plenty of times before. And he could tell looking down at the treetops and the sway of the craft that this was going to suck. The wind was going to be a bitch today. Not that that scared him, he relished the challenge. He dove out of the vessel with a giant smirk on his face, hidden behind his tuk'ata helm, screaming with excitement letting himself freefall straight down with his his hydro glider. Eventually he turned up after reaching a pretty insane speed and felt his whole body tell him that was too fast to change direction. But he didn't listen to his body, he listened to his pulse, telling him that he needed to enjoy this while he could. Rather than heading straight for the rallying point he took the scenic route, doing little tricks and looking for warm air updrafts to stay in the air longer. Eventually though he remembered he was on a time schedule, and he damned the fact that he had to call it quits. Undoubtedly others had made it back first but he had the most fun. He could guarantee that. Struggling to make the mark on time he redirected with the wind and went into a gentle dive in the direction of the landing zone. When he picked up enough speed he let go of the glider then instantly pulled the ripcord for the chute. He could feel the cables pull him back with extreme force as he slowed almost instantly to snail pace. He hit just outside the landing zone and let the wind dragged parachute drag him the rest of the way, land skiing a few feet before hitting the release cord and doing a rough tuck and roll to slow down so that he didn't face plant. His adrenaline high, he races to the the rallying point as quickly as he can, to join up with those that hadn't played around. Niriti drops from high above the clouds, her tears fall behind her as she screams falling into the jungle below. Despite the fear of the fall, she grabs hold of the hydro glider and manages to deploy it successfully, holding strongly to the grip and making it safely on land, though as she reached she stumbled on the ground and hit her head against a nearby tree trunk. Dazed and disoriented, she layed there for a couple minutes trying to grab a hold of herself. When she finally stood up, she was unable to determine her location, which made her take a longer time than expected, or required. -Death from Above, D9. Remmington is a little hesitant but leaps out the shuttle. He tries to fly the hydro glider but loses control and spins out due to the bad weather. He ejects from the ship and his chute jams. Somehow he lucks out with some branches and trees breaking his fall. All things considered it could be worse. Still he is far from camp so he starts walking. Layne had never piloted anything before. Something she'd loudly declared to everyone before launch, as if it was some sort of badge of pride. It didn't frighten her in the slightest. Not even when it turned out they were heading straight into bad weather. Turned out she could actually totally fly pretty well, despite having never done so. She was right on target. Perfect approach. Let's... ...crash! No shit that wasn't what she was supposed to be doing! Fortunately she managed to turn it into something of a controlled crashlanding instead of a 'oh my god why is everything exploding' type of crash. Any landing you can walk away from and all that. Discipline check: 3eA+2eD 2 successes, 2 threat (+2 strain) Piloting. Setback removed from blade of woe. DESTINY. Sylvain jumped out of the transport and immediately his glider started to malfunction. "Damn it! Piece of...." Sylvain started to get a bit concerned, but he was no simple coward. He was M.F. Sylvain Torsin! No glider? No problem. (OOC: Triumph on Fear means Success by DD's Ruling) D9 Gliding Event, Disc/Will, Upgrade from GM: 1eA+2eP+1eD+1eC 1 failure, 2 advantage, 1 Triumph Shortly after that the glider wing expanded correctly, and he began flying down to the surface with ease. D9 Gliding Event, Pilot/Agil: 2eA+2eD 1 success, 1 advantage The last little bit with the trees however, that was something that even his unflappable self couldn't deal with perfectly. He smashed into the branches of a large tree that had a soft cotton-like collection of seeds waiting to be blown onto the wind in its upper canopies. "Well that was lucky." Sylvain said to himself as he brushed off the cotton balls and found his way down a tree and began the long trek to the camp. D9 Gliding Event, Coord/Agil: 2eA+2eD+1eC+2eS 1 failure, 2 advantage ---- (OOC: Failure on last roll 2 strain taken) D9 Gliding Event, Cool Roll for Strain Recovery: 2eA+1eP 5 successes (OOC: 5 Strain regained because he's M.F. Sylvain Torsin) |

Post subject: | Re: [Day 9 - MM] Death from Above - Event |
Grenda was completely at home in jungles as she came from a swamp/jungle planet. At . . . home . . . in . . . jungles. Not doing a HALO jump from several miles above the jungle. "Join the Sith they said. It'll be fun they said. Force choke anyone you want they said. Didn't bloody say anything about chute drops into a jungle from near orbit." she muttered as she jumped. Once in the atmosphere though, her training in piloting almost any craft imaginable kicked in and she guided herself easily to the muster point. She opened the chute and pulled up just in time to stick the landing with some aplomb . . . face first in the ground . . . not her best landing of all, and then she dropped her glider on her foot. Then she realised she wasn't even at the right place. "POO DOO!!!!!" She rather spoiled her score for Artistic Merit with the outburst, better hope the one for Technical Content was good enough. /ooc Death From Above: Cool. Upgrade from Destiny. Khalim gives the crew of the ship an incredulous look as they hand him a hydro glider, and then he sighs knowing that there's really no getting out of this. Idiots. He looks down and steels himself for the flight (or probably lack there-of) that he's about to endure, and then steps off the vessel. Death from Above - Count to Three - Discipline - GM Destiny: 2eA+2eP+1eD+1eC 2 successes, 1 threat However, having never flown a chute, he has absolutely no idea what he's doing, and immediately gets caught in a crosswind. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck! Death From Above - Time to Fly - Piloting: 2eA+2eD+1eS 0 successes, 2 threat He goes hurtling through the jungle canopy, but fortunately his fall gets broken by the multiple levels of foliage so nothing is too badly injured. He's bruised up a bit, and finds himself dangling from a tree branch. Fuck. Death from Above - Stick the Landing - Athletics: 2eA+2eD+1eC+4eS 0 successes, 1 threat [5 strain taken] After cutting himself down, he starts to head toward the rally point. |

When her turn came, she was more than ready. SHE WAS BORN READY! Even the flight down, she couldn't help but to enjoy the experience in full. Never before had she done anything like this, and it was such an amazing rush! The landing did leave some things to be desired, but she managed it well enough without any injuries. "WOOHOO! Post subject: | Re: [Day 9 - MM] Death from Above - Event |
Facing the thread of the Dark Side was something which Jun-Tsu had become quite accustomed. She had thrived on the thrill of its power and knew that if she opened herself up to it, it would not harm her. But this was not that. As she stared at the jungles below with her glider, she felt fear grip her knowing that if she were to do this wrong she could, quite suddenly, die. There was no denying gravity, not with what she knew. She wished she had been gifted the lessons of her great-grandmother on how the old matriarch flew, dissipated into the Dark-light, and moved from place to place instantly. She looked back there was no getting out of this. It was live or die, and so, with fear in her chest, she lept from the shuttle. Discipline (Willpower) - 1eP+2eA+2eD = 2 failures, 1 advantage She tried to steel herself, but any sense of composure went out the window when she hit the wind and rain. She caught a sudden updraft and was hurtled through the air. It was all she could do not to scream at her own obvious impending death. She gripped her hydro-glider as though it were life itself and just prayed to the Dark Side that it would somehow see her to the ground. Piloting: Planetary (Agility) - 2eA+2eD+2eS = 0 successes, 2 threats Another crosswind clipped her and that was it. Jun-Tsu was screaming into the rain as she dropped from the sky like a bird hit by a rock. She tried to deploy her chute, but it did little more than slow her the few feet before she hit the canopy. Through the relatively soft foliage, she felt branches and leaves whip at her face until a sudden jerk brought her to a stop high above the ground, her parachute a shredded, tangled mess hooked on a dozen branches. She looked up, then looked down, then looked to either side. How the hell do I get down? Athletics (Brawn) - 2eA+1eC+2eD+5eS = 2 failures, 4 threats OOC: 8 strain |

Yavin was here. Finally. All she had to do was survive a drop. And though she'd never done this before, she was filled with strength. Strength she'd gained from a place she did not know of before. And when it was her turn to jump, she did not hesitate, she did not speak. She took her equipment, closed her eyes, and walked out into the open air. As she dropped, her robes swung out like wings, flapping in the wind. She deployed her hydro glider with ease, but when she began to pull her chute, her robes were suddenly in the way. It took her some time to push past them, but eventually opened the chute. By then, it was too late to hit the target point, and she was going to be very late to the camp.
