The Dark Academy on Korriban

The air rushed through Sylvain's hair as his speeder soared through the canyons of Korriban's surface. It seemed strange to be heading right back to the spaceport after arriving at the Academy, but the unusual nature of their arrival on the planet had ruined his plans to pick up a few supplies before getting back to his room.

He'd gotten used to the path to the spaceport after spending nearly two years here. But as he rode today he could sense a conflict within himself; an unsettling feeling that something was different.

Sylvain stopped his speeder at the entrance to a small ravine. A prick inside his mind told him to stop.

This way, young one...

Sylvain was not entirely the adventurous type. Normally it would take some prodding from Shaisha to get him to follow something like this. But there was something soothing about the voice he felt he heard. And until now there had been no reason to stick his neck out unnecessarily... but with the tests approaching these types of promptings could lead to knowledge that would give him an edge.

Turning his speeder up the ravine, he proceeded slowly until he came to the entrance of an umarked and rather small cave. There was nothing impressive about this place, but somehow he knew it was where he needed to stop.

The cave would have been easily missed if not for the tugging through the force, unlike most of Korriban this place seemed less oppressive, an aura of peace lingered before it was shattered by a shriek that came from the cave.

The sound was followed by vicious growling.

OOC: Dark Destiny used.

Sylvain halted momentarily at the noise. There was definitely something special about this cave... but was it worth the energy to go in and find out?

As Slyvain weighed his options he felt the soothing influence of the cave begin to give him confidence. The Force is my ally...

He welled up the courage and carefully walked into the cave.

Two tuk’ata were pacing back and forth at the end of the cave menacing a wounded student leaning against the far wall huddled holding an injured arm. It was a rather small cave and the creatures quickly turned to Sylvain sensing a new meal.

Seeing the beasts Sylvain was immediately filled with fear.

Now is the time to run Syl... He could hear his voice in his head.

But the cave itself called to him, bid him to stay. Who was this student? Letting them die, might mean he lost his opportunity. If this is what he was here for, then waiting for Shaisha and Kristal wouldn't do anything.

A soothing peaceful feeling overcame him as he reached out with the force. Lifting up his hand he sought to pierce into the minds of the beasts.

"Be still." He said with a calming and soothing tone as he probed deeply into their minds.

(OOC: Roll- 1 Light side point used to calm down the creatures)

The tuk’ata cocked it’s head at the force user as he pulled on the light side of the Force. It approached and then licked his hand and then slowly walked out, the other following slowly though not as peacefully. The young student was breathing ragged breaths.

OOC: Sylvain suffers one strain for using the Light and 1 Conflict.

Sylvain still breathing heavily feels a warm feeling of relief and peace settle over him as the beasts walk out of the cave.

Approaching the wounded student he smiled, "Sticky situation you found yourself in."

The youth looks up and nods and in the face he sees himself, his own face looking back at him and the voice was his that spoke, “Thank you.”

Then there was nothing but old ragged clothes and broken skeletal remains. He was alone. There was a something clutched in the hands of the skeletal remains. A small metallic object with many sides.

Sylvain was more than surprised at seeing his own face for that brief moment. "Wha...." Was all he could say before the vision disappeared.

Looking down at the object in the skeleton's hand he crouched down to pick it up. Taking it in his hand he looked at it carefully, "What are you then?" He said as he opened his mind and eyes to try and understand what it was in his hand.

Instinctively through the Force it did not take long to activate whatever it was in his hand and then there was a woman standing in front of him a bit confused and looking around. She was a holographic image but quite refined and then she spoke, “Wait… what, is this thing on? Oh man Master Xe’fi is going to kill me if I broke this thing.”

“Wait, who are you?” she said, her accent was not Imperial and most decidedly Republic.

Seeing the image burst forth from the object Sylvain took a step back momentarily. The sudden question brought him back to his senses. "Hello..." He said with still a bit of caution.

A holocron? He thought to himself.

"My name is Sylvain Torsin. Who are you?"

She frowned and said, “That’s a weird way to talk… wait is this some kind of test? Fine I will go along with it, the name is Jedi Knight Thy Yulani. Why are you on Korriban? This is restricted space.”

"Jedi Knight?" He asked with a smile. "You must be a little behind in the times I am afraid, Knight Yulani."

He looked around to the entrance, "Korriban and it's system is no longer under the jurisdiction of the Republic. This planet now belongs to the Sith Empire. Perhaps you have not heard of it yet if Korriban was still under Republic control."

“No that makes no sense, the Empire is long gone, no one has heard from them in forever. Master Xe’fi would have told me, no you are trying to trick me. Well know that a Jedi is not easily tricked my strange talking friend, and I use the term loosely,” she replied with a doubting tone.

“Although this does look like Korriban.”

"As difficult as it may be to hear, I assure you Lady Knight that it is the case. I'm not sure how you would like me to prove it to you."

He smiled warmly, "I have several questions of my own... I've never heard of a light side holocron on Korriban.... But I'd be more than welcome to answer any you may have first if it may make you feel a bit more at ease."

“Holocron… oh… wait you found Master Xe’fi’s…” she trailed off as she started putting the pieces together.

“I never… oh man, I guess I did. I’m a holocron? I’m not… There is no Chaos, there is Peace.” A range of emotions flit across her face before she finds some peace in silence; she then spoke after regaining her composure, “I am not sure I will have answers but go ahead.”

Listening to her response he smiled, "So you did not intend to make this holocron you are in?"

“No.”

“Not at all, I am not a Master, I don’t have some great secret knowledge. Holocorns are for the old Masters, you get all gray and then you make a holocron to share all your knowledge before you become one with the Force,” she replied pacing back and forth.

“You seem overly amused by this.”

"Not overly, It is quite interesting though. As foreign as I seem to you, you seem equally foreign to me." He smiled.

"I've always been a more of an inquisitive type, so this kind of exchange is quite interesting to me. I've never had the opportunity to speak with a member of the Republic. Our relations aren't exactly what one would call 'friendly'. The Jedi are used as boogey men to scare small children into doing what is proper. Yet, interacting with you has led me to think you aren't as horrifying as we are led to believe."

He smiled, "What aspect of the Force did you most actively pursue in life? You have the appearance and elegant structure of a skilled duelist."

“I trained to fight, I mean I knew how to fight. It is standard for all Jedi to learn basic lightsaber instruction, I was just very good at it, probably better than Master Xe’fi of course he would say that I should be humble,” she replied calmly.

“So you are an Imperial then? I never met one of you before, you look rather handsome I guess? For someone in service to a dark overlord bound to the Dark Side, I mean. And wait, Jedi are bogeymen? We are defenders of peace. As Master Xe’fi always says, we draw our weapons only as a last resort.”

He smiled the smoothest smile an 18 year old could, "Handsome? You're too kind."

He then tilted his head, "Defenders of the Peace? Our understanding of peace much be quite different. We are taught that Peace is a lie. That it is only through strength that one can create and maintain order."

“A Sith,” she said narrowing her eyes slightly.

“Not only is my… holocron lost on Korriban but I get found by a Sith. This has to be a comedy, a really bad one.”

He chuckled warmly, "The irony is not lost on me either."

"I'm starting to like you though. You're straightforward... and not a coward like we are told." He smiled.

"I hope you wont resent me if I plan on keeping your holocron." His charm was evident in his smile.

Then looking down at the remains on the floor, "Was this you?"

Now that brought a shock as she turned around and inspected the skeleton and then looked back at him. She was quiet and then said, “No, but whoever it was I hope they found peace in the Force. Is this where you found me… my holocron?”

He nodded, "I wonder who they were then. I came in here because I heard a shriek and came across two tuk’ata pressing in on what looked like a person. Then when I got here it was just this skeleton and you."

He smiled again, "So what is your story Knight Yulani? Where are you from? Did you spend considerable time here on Korriban?"
