The Dark Academy on Korriban

After venturing through the Near Wastes, Remmington rides his speeder all the way out to the Valley of the Dark Lords. He goes over what limited information in his head that he found on the Valley on the computer the day before.

OOC: I will need a Survival roll at Hard difficulty, if you have Foresee or Seek that would probably yield better results. Setback die due to the heat. Remmington has a Boost die due to his knowledge.

(Waiting for answer to question before rolling, but wanted to get into the thread)

Jun-Tsu stared up at the sun with a baleful look, even as the clouds began to move in and the winds started to pick up. Any truly terrible weather was likely hours off, more than enough time for them to get back to the Academy, but the oppressive heat was another matter entirely.

She tried to put it out of her mind as she sidled next to Rem to peer at the datapad he held. Satisfied with what she saw, she looked out over the terrain. "Zhis place iz strong in zhe Dark Side. I can feel it."

She let her senses wander out beyond her body, as she glanced to her pale hands that practically tingled with the powers here.

Force Power: Sense - 1eF 2 Dark Side

Remmington nods as he leans against his speeder. "Lord Zash shared some interesting information with me. I am hoping that we'll find something good out here. I don't think the other students are going to try to come here so soon. They'll probably play it safe at the start."

/ Will probably use Lord Zash's knowledge and a Destiny point here. Waiting for Nunki to join in. /

"Gutt, zhen you already realize how dangerous zhiz place iz to personz like us. I'wve no fear of zhe Dark Side, but zhe animals zhat gather in zuch places are wery aggressive. I hardly need to say...preternaturally zo." There may have been a heightened timber to her voice but it never marred her visage which remained as placid as ever.

The only sign of her wariness came from her eyes perpetually scanning the rock-faces of the valley.

"Not just animals. There are probably traps and possible rampaging battle droids from a by gone era." Remmington makes sure to check through his equipment to make sure everything is in working order.

While holding his respirator he looks over to Jun. "Do you have a respirator or gas mask Jun-Tsu?"

Nunki trailed slightly behind the group, taking in her surroundings.

She catches up, and asks, "Do we need one?"

"Guaranteed vhat ve do not hawve ve vill need," she replied with grim humor, eyes still on their surroundings.

The valley of the dark Lords was in view it was massive with many structures… pyramids and tombs dotted the massive valley of red stone and crimson dirt. Even in the midst of bright red day, there seemed to be a shadow…

Then the speeder flipped as something slammed into it a dark shadow of a creature large but swift. Too fast to register.

Jun-tsu feels a tugging through Foresee, the darkness wishes for her to come deeper, something is calling to her… to them?

OOC: Coordination rolls at Average difficulty, failure means the each person takes 3 strain. Advantage can be used to reduce that if not a success. Threat increases the strain. The speeder is damaged but operational. Spent Destiny for bad things.

Assuming a successful Foresee roll, does that take the place of the Survival roll, or does it just give us a bonus to our communal Survival roll?

OOC: It took the place, you found the valley and now you might die!

This is bad.

She rushed to make sure Remmington and Jun-Tsu were okay.

Rolled Forsee, though I'm not actually sure it's necessary if Jun-Tsu's was good. Linked anyway.

The sudden sound of the speeder tipping caused an instinctive crouch. Before she was even fully aware of what she was doing, the witch had slipped down into a hidden crevasse between the rockface and a large bolder.

She scanned about, but could see nothing. She couldn't wait for her companions this time. She opened the folds of her robes to better allow her to run, revealing the light plates beneath. They offered little protection, but perhaps a little might be enough.

Pulling the ancient sword from its sheath on her back, she sought to follow the pull that tugged at the back of her senses. She was a devote of the Dark Side and would heed its call.

(I think Dapper thought my Sense roll was a Foresee roll. But now we have the Foresee roll and I have my Sense roll up to sense all living things within short range. Not great but better than nothing).

Remmington somehow immediately reacts to the speeder getting flipped as he instinctively rolls away to safety and if quickly on his feet. He looks over for the others to see if they are okay.

"Jun-Tsu, Nunki, are you both alright?"

The speeder flipped over and slid through the dirt before coming to rest next to a dune some twenty or so meters away. Whatever flipped the vehicle is gone but for a brief moment Jun-Tsu felt very dark energy, twisted.

Overhead in the daylight she could see three of the seven moons of Korriban.

Below in the valley was just the wind and silent monuments to ages gone by.

With caution she was the first to rise, looking at where the speeder had come to a stop. Jun-Tsu looked back at her companions. "Zhere vas a presence. I felt it. Ztrong in zhe vays of zhe Dark Side. It vas....like a small whirlpool in a lake, turbulent und twisted. Perhaps it vas ewen zhe darkness itzelf, zo powverful it lashed out of itz own accord."

"Rem, did you learn anyzhing about zhe creaturez of zhis place researching?"

Remmington shakes his head. "No, there was not much in the database. This area is rarely ventured into and a lot of people die coming here."

Seeing the others are alright, he goes to inspect the speeder once the creature is gone. When it seems okay he lifts it back up.

"So shall we continue our search ladies?" He smiles adventurously at the others.

"It may be zafer to keep moving. I can feel zhe darkness drawing me further in, like a tide that pours through the valley." She pointed further on before leaving the safety of her cover. Getting to her speeder, she mounted it, flourishing her robes to trail behind her.

"We need to stay cautious. Whatever flipped that speeder may be capable of much, much more." She paused for a moment, examining the two. "I hope you are both capable of defending yourself."

Jun-Tsu looked to Rem, "Have you need of my blade?"

She held it out to him as an offering. "I've zhe Dark Side to protect me."

Remmington nods. "If you don't mind Jun-Tsu. I just mainly have saber skills to rely on." He accepts the sword and secures it then mounts the speeder.

"Did either you feel for where we should go now?" He asks the 2 sensor types in the group.

Jun-Tsu pointed further along, "I can sense nothing more precise than that. It is like tracking a powerful fragrance in a light breeze. I can feel it pouring from here and pooling further on."

The draw of the dark side well the tugging was leading to a tomb built into pyramid, a crumbling pyramid with five meter high doors flanked by hooded statues of the same height. It seemed to whisper to the aspirants… beckon them.

There were many structures but this one seemed to call to them. Or maybe it was just the dark side itself.

Jun-Tsu took the lead, kicking her speeder into gear and skimming over the canyon floor. She deftly manuevered around the small obstacles in their way as she followed the flow of the Dark Side. She could sense it all around them, and canted her head as they approached the pyramid.

When they finally arrived, she was quick to dismount in a smooth motion staring up at the grand edifice and then to the surrounding out buildings, remnants of a time when this place was given proper honors, and people were not pushed away by fear of the power and forces within.

She couldn't help but mentally chide these bygone generations for their lack of devotion.

"Can....can you feel zhat?" she raised her hand towards the tomb. "It vishes us to go....zhere."

She pointed.

The doors were sealed shut with faded pictographs, but it was alive with darkness and a wave of fear washed over the aspirants.

OOC: Cool or Discipline roll Hard difficulty, spending a Destiny for each player to upgrade the roll. If they fail they suffer a setback to all rolls for the scene due to fear.
