The Dark Academy on Korriban

While Sylvain had gone to eat early, Shaisha had instead gone to the refresher to wake herself up for the day... or night. Even with the controlled light of the ship, she felt that hyperspeed travel always messed with her brain.

Dressed in her fine well-tailored clothing in red and black, with still damp hair clinging to her back, Shaisha found a vacant seat to devour her breakfast. At least it's relatively quiet at this hour.

A man showing the blood of a Sith but clearly not pure-blooded steps into the mess hall and gets some food, stacked pretty high on his plate, before moving to grab a seat across from the Shaisha. He nods at first but doesn't do anything other than eat for a bit. Despite how packed his plate is it doesn't seem like he is devouring the food in an uncouth manner, instead being meticulous, clean and proper with it even if the bites are a bit large.

Moyr had mentionned dumplings...real dumplings! DUMPLINGS! Ahem, better enjoy real food before all she had is nutrient paste. Entering the room with her heavy overalls and goggles on her montrals while tapping some code on her datapad she took a seat near the siths unaware of their presence.

She set her encumbered trail down and took a bite of her food.

''Mmmhm that's good''

She gave a nod to Zeno as he joined her, and she reminded herself of her own manners and slowed down her eating. Oh well, now that she had company , it wasn't so bad to eat slower.

Still, it was hard to look away from the rather exotic look of the man; the red-skin of her own kind, but with facial hair instead of tendrils or ridges like she would normally see on a Sith.

But before she could make a comment, the alien interrupted her train of thought. Shaisha cast a brief annoyed glance at the togruta, then looked back to the well-mannered man. "I didn't know we were eating fancy fare," she chuckled.

The presence of the alien did not seem to bother Zeno. He didn't acknowledge her just as he hadn't acknowledged anyone else in the room, even Shaisha. But when the pure-blood spoke up he did so.

"My tutor told me to take advantage of it on the ride to Korriban. Nutrient paste is what aspirants can expect daily at the academy," he says with a nod. "The nutrient paste will remind me of the deep space portion of my pilot training no doubt. Twelve days sealed in a cockpit with only that to nourish me. Unpleasant. I am Zeno Deathwright."

"Shaisha Vreysk," she replied with a polite nod. "A pilot who is now an acolye at the Sith Academy? How interesting... have you flied in battle yet as a pilot?"

"I have not. But I have gotten several kills against other trained pilots in my training. The Deathwrights produce the most well trained pilots in the empire. I was undergoing that training will studying under a tutor that formerly taught at the sith academy. When I finish here I will undoubtedly be put to use against the republic," he explains. "And what of your training?"

Baesal's face grimaced when she heard about the paste. She turned towards the half-blood, closing a window on her datapad.

''So its true then? Darn it...'' she gave both siths nod ''I am Baesal Zyn'' she smiled exposing her razor sharp teeth

"It is. That is what is served in the academy mess hall according to my tutor," he says with a nod. He then takes his time with another bite.

"I have been trained since childhood to follow my parents footsteps in becoming a Sith, by private tutors mostly, though I have been on Korriban a few times already. There are some things on Korriban's Academy that private tutors on Dromund Kaas can't cover, after all. Finishing my training there now will be a stepping stone into serving the Empire."

She gave a curious look to the alien's lack of manners.

Zeno nods at that. "Do you have any specific plans for how you will serve? Or are you leaving that up to whoever you apprentice with?" he asks. He doesn't even assume that the pure-blood has a chance of failing. Certainly she does, like all do, but it seems so slim with someone born to the dark side.

Said alien shrug and returned to her own business when they both ignored her. The pilot talk had sparked her curiosity and she opened a tab on her datapad with a few starship schematics notably the sith fighter.

And she wolfed down on another dumpling

"My ambition would be to be chosen by someone like Darth Marr; to work directly under one who is so active in the Empire's efforts to bring the Republic to its knees. It's not my place to decide where I end up, but that is at least my desire. And yourself?"

She gave his face a closer study over the rim of her cup.

"If you graduate here I think you'll have more control over your destiny than you believe. As for me, I will likely be sent to the front lines of the war and put to use in sieges and assaults. That is what my skill set aligns to. If given an assault ship I'll be capable of delivering surgical strikes behind enemy lines. My training here will only strengthen my capabilities as a pilot and warrior. This place will ensure that I can make the dark side my ally in the fight against the Republic."

When the alien goes back to her datapad he gives her a sideways glance. It seemed strange for her to have spoken up about nothing other than food. He looked back to Shaisha as he though that the earlier forwardness was really what she was going to need to survive. Keeping quiet with her head down was certain to make her look like a target for those that are more xenophobic. What a waste.

"You sound certain of your fate, Deathwright. What if a lord chooses you to run errands for them instead?" she smirked, sampling another bite of the food. It was better than the paste at the Academy, for sure... but hardly anything that could be compared to the usual fare in Kaas City.

Baesal typed on her pad, analysing something.

''How in hutta did they not replicate that bloody ion drive?'' she said mostly to herself.

In a cool tone, "Then when the time comes I'll be the lord and take on my own apprentice. Anyone that would waste such a well trained pilot does not deserve to serve the empire." Making threats of violence against a master that does not even exist for him yet... he seems supremely confident in his fate.

Hearing the alien's comment, he speaks up again. "Which ion drive?" He slowly continues working on his mountain of food with propriety.

Baesal raised an eyebrow when Zeno asked about the drive, not expecting they would engage after ignoring her. She turned to him nonetheless and flipped the holographic display of the datapad



''The Sith starfighter's ion drives...well...the Sith starfighter that was used by Darth Malak's forces three centuries ago.''

Shaisha observed the conversation, taking a mouthfull of food. Talk of starfighters and ion drives wasn't exactly her field of expertise.

"Some of my family flew for Darth Malak. We still have some of those old ships that are used for training," he says with a nod. "Newer models are designed with easier maintenance in mind. Malak seemed to have a nigh endless supply so I suspect he did not care about the issues of ease of maintenance. They're sturdy but if they bust they're difficult to fix as the engines are integrated into the frame and body. I loved flying them due to their capabilities, but you have to damage the hull and frame to properly repair them. A side effect of whatever process was used to mass produce them I'd guess. But I agree, if they could fit those capabilities in an easier to maintain package it would be ideal."

''Quite right'' she nodded

''While I question the design of the fighter itself, the twin ion drive system is simply amazing. I wonder why the Empire is not using the design.''

She nibbled

''I hear it comes from an unknown alien race...that might be why...''

"Unknown alien race?" Shaisha raised a ridged eyebrow.

"I couldn't tell you. All I can say from experience is that if my ion engines went out I'd much rather have the new starfighter's ion engine design in the field. I can make most fixes on it without a plasma torch and having to remove the entire engine assembly from the craft. Decreases the efficiency of space but saves on having to get a whole new fighter if that's all that gets damaged," he replies.



"Yes. Those ones have an odd look to them all around. Definitely different from what was used before they were put into service. I wouldn't be surprised if they were an alien design."

''I agree when you say that Malak's fighter's were poorly designed...but the principles behind the drive's mechanisms are better then what we have now. Especially true for carrier deployment or the Mark V Supremacy class starfighter...I hope they will reconsider for Mark VI.''



''Yah, legends says that Malak and Revan found some sort of alien factory and used it to mass produce their fleet''

"Ah. I seem to recall something about that... some sort of technological facility, I believe my sire said..." she leaned back in her chair, a contemplative look on her face.
