He chuckled, "I know quite well who that is Kris."

Then turning back to the dress, "Am I going to have to call your mother about that dress?"

Looking back, the smirk she wore became evident for a second before she sipped casually at her drink with party etiquette. Which included avoiding having too much to drink.

"Now, that would be a bold statement to be making."

He chuckled, "The Serasai women I know tend to react... affectionately to that type of boldness. Why would she be any different?"

"Because what you intend would clearly involve her daughter," she said with a smirk. Leaving her glass in the air, lip height, but off to the side.

"You mean the one she's been looking for suitors from influential families for?" He smiled, "I think she'd overnight it."

"If you try be sure to record it. I don't exactly want to be there when she hears it, but I want to see how it goes down," she said, teasing with her smile. Hiding that smile, as always, with the glass.

He too smiled a bit and took another sip from his glass.

"I suspect she'll learn to love my personality much as you have... though asking for such an illicitly... let's just say illicit favor... asking for that at this point may not be the best course of action." He smiled warmly, "I'll just have to find new ways to motivate you then. Perhaps, with a bit more pressure you would cave to my demands."

He then shook his head, "No... not Kris. Gentle persuasion is the way to go."

Wearing a smile she listened to his plotting and planning put to words. Amused to listen to the thought process as it were.

"You would find yourself hard pressed to a Serasai who would cave under pressure," she said, placing her glass down for the moment and crossing both hands over her lap. "Persuasion sounds like the best plan available. It is your strong suit after all."

"If it isnt broken, don't fix it." He said with a smile and a quick squeeze of her hand.

"I haven't asked," she said, a thought coming to her mind. From perhaps an odd string of events connecting each other. Looking a bit concerned. From as she recalled Spindral said that she would be connected to him always. As far as she had seen nothing ever manifested in relation to that. Not even in his sleep.

"Is she still a problem, that Spirit?"

He shook his head. "She found a different host. One who seems to be a bit more agreeable than I was. You know Anya Veers?"

There was a tenseness to her expression, her reaction. "How?" she asked as calmly as possible.

Sylvain sensed danger in that question, and so diverted as best he could. "I extracted her with a ritual in the Tombs I heard of... she must've latched on to someone else once she left me."

He sipped his wine, "I'm supposed to meet her this evening. She talked to me after I kicked her out... don't know what to expect tonight though. I'd prefer to keep my distance."

"And you learned of this someone else to be Anya Veers?" Kristal asked, her hand laid out on the table near her glass. Though she didn't seek it. That second part he mentioned worried her more than anything, but one thing at a time.

He nodded, "We talked after she claimed her new victim. I've stayed away as much as I can... I know of her spiritual potency greater than most."

"You are meeting her tonight?" she asked, reconfirming what he said prior. Also, in her subtle way, demanding a bit more insight into that. There was a calculating approach to this that was easy enough to pick up.

"It was a rather cryptic message. I'll be careful, I assure you." He said with a smile.

"When are you meeting her?" she said, practically demanding with that cold, heavy tone.

"After dinner, In front of the cantina."

Sylvain looked befuddled, "What's up? Something the matter?"

Kristal looked at him for a second without expression, just a quite glare of sorts, "You were just going to meet with her, that thing, alone? I don't like it."

The following statement was, clearly, an understatement.

He smiled and winked, "You're concern is cute Kris. I'm a big boy, I'll be fine."

He then squeezed her hand, "I'll call after to check in... maybe stop by your room. Show you I'm alright."

"Cute?" she said with an angry tic. There was a cold flame burning there.

Pulling her hand back she grabbed for her glass, bringing it up to her lips. Her chest puffed up as she sat there for a moment. Lip just touching the rim of her glass. Pulling it away again so she could speak.

"Fine, get yourself killed."

And then she took a sip, a bit longer one than usual.

He smirked, "Less cute now I suppose."

He paused and took a drink, "You got to trust me to be able to do my work. I'm not a fool Kris..."

He put down his glass, "While I'd love to have you around me at all times, sometimes I need to do things on my own."

"Your work? That thing took control of you, used you for it's purpose and even though she isn't inside your head anymore it sounds as if you are all too ready to give her another chance." There was a bit more heat to that, but otherwise still cold, still cool.

"You say you aren't a fool, yet are acting as one," she said bluntly. Perhaps she might have worded it a little better before, but she didn't really worry about that anymore with him. It was just her, naked, mentally rather than physically.

He smiled. He liked it when Kris acted like herself. Even though he saw her softer side most of the time, it was wonderful to see she still could push back with the rest of them.

"She's quite resourceful. I'm not sure what it is she wants. I'll listen, and if it isn't worth my time I won't do anything about it." He shrugged, "Nothing ventured, nothing gained. My job is one of calculated risks... Foolish as it may seem, there are times I need to take chances to be successful."
