The Dark Academy on Korriban

Layne announced her presence at the door to the quarters that had been assigned to academy prodigy, Anya Veers; who would, upon answering and opening said door, might recognize the attire she was wearing as being the armored robes of none other than Lord Oshin. First she'd gotten the blade, now the armor.

"Can I come in?"

She allows her entry and says, “How cute.”

“It is early and despite not needing sleep this body does.” She sits on her bed and says, “What do you want?”

She frowned at the 'cute' comment.

"Sun's been up for hours. It's not early."

She took up a spot leaning against the wall opposite of Veers.

"All that business in the vault aside, you went to see Torsin yesterday, didn't you? You said you would."

“I did, what of it?” she says.

"I thought we got past all this back and forth and decided to help each other? You went there about the holocron, didn't you? So what happened?"

“It’s mine now,” she says.

“I intend to keep it to learn more about the Republic. I have created notes on my progress, you are welcome to them.”

Hearing that made Layne... angry.

"That's not what we agreed to!"

“I changed my mind, you get what you want; I get what I want. I don’t see any downsides here for you,” she says calmly.

"You can't just change your mind like that. And I can't use notes against him. This whole exercise was about getting physical proof in the first place! Notes aren't good enough."

“I really can, besides if you want information the notes could be useful for you. Maybe not against him but someone else you have had problems with,” she says.

"Thaine? She's nothing..."

Damn it, this bitch...

She sighed.

"I want to at least see this holocron for myself. It's possible to talk to it, right?"

"It is possible, she is rather illuminating," Anya replies.

"Alright," she said, calming herself slightly.

"First give me the gist of what you've found out from it. Then let's see this holocron."

“It knows a great deal about the Jedi but the creation of this holocron device was no intentional. It was accidental, but still informative. If I am going to live in this world then I should know all I can, Thy is helping me do that,” she says laying down on her bed.

"Thy, huh."

She crossed her arms.

"You keep forgetting though, Torsin knows what you are. And I'm guessing he knows you have this holocron now too. Whats to stop him from sending an overseer or sith lord after you. They find the holocron, and you find yourself facing all the trouble that comes with it."

“He thinks he’s smarter than everyone else and twice as smooth. If he wanted to ruin me he could have, he didn’t and at this point does not have the political capital to make it happen. These Sith respect power, they know I have it and in time will want me for their own,” she says with a shrug.

“Sylvain can try to expose me, it won’t go like he thinks.”

"Maybe. Or maybe you're assuming too much about how these people think and operate. Either way, it'd still be troublesome for you if they found out. But if you want to keep it for now, fine. Just give me access to it. Let me talk to this... Thy, you said?"

“I have been at this much longer than you Layne,” she says dismissively and then says.

“She will not respond well to your manners, so soften them or this will be a short conversation.”

"Right, that whole... light-side thing." She waved the concern away. "I can do that."

Veers nods and then reaches behind her pillow and pulls out the holocron. She sits up cross-legged and opens the holocron, a young woman appears in what Layne assumes is Jedi attire. She says, “Greetings Anya and you must be Layne, Anya’s cousin.”

“I have heard much about you. I am saddened that you are both being trained to be Sith.”

"Huh?"

She looked to Anya quickly before looking back to the holographic woman.

"Hi."

See. I can do polite.

"Uh... what exactly have you heard about me?"

“Well that you two are related and that you have some anger issues but are basically a good person. At least Anya thinks so and that although you may not share her desire to be redeemed you will not interfere with her path. She seems to think highly of you at least as far as I can tell,” Thy says.

"I don't know about redemption. I did close a wound in the force recently, though. That's something a Jedi would do, isn't it?"

“I don’t know what a wound is, but that sounds very compassionate, what happened?” she asks.

"Some sith lord used a ritual on one of the students, and the student became some... thing... hovering between life and death. In pain. A wound in the force. I helped him pass on."

She didn't really care if Veers heard that. It wasn't a big deal, after all... and it would help convince Holothy that Layne was on the level.

"I'm pretty sure you'd never find Torsin do something like that."
