Baesal, followed by the interested party, knocked on Lord Savas's office door.

Better him then her

His slave opens the door and Savas says, “Best you lot come in. What world shattering news is worth bothering me now?”

Layne came along with them; dressed in armored robes that she hadn't been seen in before; and which were of an ancient design, despite looking pretty pristine. Perhaps it would interest Savas. Perhaps not. In any case, it wasn't why they were there.

''Lord Savas'' she said with a bow after entering

She let the other two enter before continuing

''We have found what we believe to be the Vault of Harandim-She and came to report our find to you''

Well, I'm the one that found it... but whatever.

Layne crossed her arms, not really feeling like explaining how they ultimately got the information out of a droid she found in the tomb of her ancestor's lover.

“That is unexpected, you just found this under the Great Palace?” he asks.

"Well, there was some climbing and fighting involved. So I wouldn't say we 'just found it.'"

''It is, of course, more complicated: We used the force to find an access hatch to the Palace's sewers...''

And Baesal began explaining the team's journey and brought up the maps of the place she made, ommiting R5's presence and their looting

''...I recognized the Vault door and so we prefered to to proceed further as to not wake something we were not sure we would be able to bring down.''

“Your typical harrowing adventure into a deep dark place where no one should tread, what did you find?” Lord Savas says.

“You didn’t unleash the dark thing within? That is a twist, that is usually how these stories end,” he says with some incredulity.

She shrugged. "I was voted down on that."

''Unleashing unfathomable ancient horrors is all fun and games but we opted for a wiser option, Lord Savas''

She crosses her arms

''The aura left no ambiguity and, while Layne and Moyr showed great courage, greed did not trump our collective better judgement: Facing that thing without proper planning or knowledge would have been foolish''

“You would probably be dead, or worse,” he says tapping his desk.

“Give me everything you collected on it and I will see the site secured. At a minimum it may provide more historical knowledge for the Academy.”

"Which we ought to be rewarded for somehow, I should think?"

You didn't get recognition and reward unless you demanded them.

Baesal prepares what she had collected but lets Savas answer Layne's quiery first.

"Have I killed you yet?" Savas says.

"That is not a reward. That is just an implied threat."

If Savas thought he was going to intimidate someone like Layne, he was obviously mistaken.

"Besides, if we were to just give you this valuable information without expecting anything in return, you'd probably just think we're idiots. Anyway, I don't think getting something in return for our efforts is unreasonable. Especially since we could've just as easily taken this information to someone else."

Lord Savas shrugs, “You have made your point.”

He puts the data aside and says calmly, “Now get out, a Lord of the Sith does not bide demands of his lessers. Get out or I will kill you.”

Tsk

"Alright, let's go guys."

Baesal finishes the data compilation and hands it over

''Everything should be in order Lord Savas. I wish you a good afternoon.''

"What the fuck are you doing," she hissed towards Baesal while on her way out, as she saw her just give over the data.

Is she just stupid? Or a coward?

''I secured it'' she looks around if anyone else listened

''That data was dangerous and we had no use for it...I know at least one other Lord who would have killed us over it''

She seems quite certain of her decision

''Savas will keep that info secure''

Once outside the office and what not; Layne responded.

"You should've just walked out without giving him shit. He should've given us something in return."

''Maybe, maybe not.''

She frowns

''Savas is an old timer and has no patience. He respect academic concerns and inquiry but I'd wager he hates greed and tomb raiding''

"Whatever," she said, obviously not happy with things like logic.

"I really hate leaving with nothing but some old sword."
