The Dark Academy on Korriban

The system suffers a minor surge which sends a crackle of power through the system which culminates with the emergency bulkheads slamming shut trapping them in the bridge. The transparasteel that cocoons the bridge is intact though covered in a great deal of crimson sand and dirt.

"Fuck this ship," he says with a growl. He takes the fusion lantern and hands it to Shaisha.

Moving to the bulkhead he pulls one of his lightsabers and gets to work trying to put a whole in it.

"... Oops?" Shaisha purses her lips in surprise and annoyance. That wasn't exactly the desired result.

As Zeno sets to work, she wonders if there was perhaps something they might've overlooked on the bridge. Or maybe some other way out?

"Zeno, stop that, and let's see if we can find something that might get us out of here," Shaisha almost commands, clearly being the cooler head of the two. "Maybe a hidden passage, or something of use."

"We'll hack our way out of here as a last resort."

"Alright," he says, looking at the door a moment more before going about the task of searching.

Not that Shaisha was completely sure what they were looking for.

The whole thing was really getting frustrating. Zeno walks over to the corpse.

"Fuck your ship, bastard." He burns a whole in the skull with his shoto.

The ship shudders again causing more small debris to fall from the ceiling.

"... I got a bad feeling about that, Zeno," and she could tell as much without using the Force to enhance her senses. Shaisha's hand searches for the closest thing to hold onto, in case the ship takes them for a ride on the tumbler. And knowing Zeno, he would probably do it again.

That surpised the hell out of him, and he looked at the skeleton. He sat it back up in the captains chair out of curiosity.

"Is there something here?" He echoes the question with his mind.

There is no answer but the force seems to be at work in some way, the smaller corpse is still on the ground.

"... The child?" or rather, what was left of it. Shaisha lets go of the railing she had found to hold onto, to approach Zeno and the corpses.

He kept his mind open to the sadness.

Zeno looks down at the baby, and for some reason flashes back to memories of his own younger siblings. Especially the one that had passed when he was just a year old. The sith felt. That's what made them different from jedi. Attachments were just a part of who they were. And growing up among the Deathwrights... that sense of bonding was all the more stronger for Zeno.

He bent down and took the baby up, cradling it in his arms, looking to the others in the room. "Never a word of this to anyone..." his glare was serious. Deadly serious.

He knelt before the corpse in the throne. Before thinking back to putting that younger sister to rest. He could feel his eyes welling a bit at her loss, as he began singing the lullaby he often did for her before bed with his mother in the room.

They had always wanted him to be a killer, a vicious one, but his mother also wanted him to know the value of family, of having people you can trust. And of caring for those that you would rely on in the future.

When he finished it he stood before the corpse. "I'll lay you and your child to rest as soon as we get out of here. You have my word."

He set the small corps in the lap of the dead captain and layed it's hand over it to keep it safe.

When he turned back to the others he repeated himself, though there were tears visible now. "Not a word..." The glare was just as deadly serious.

Shaisha couldn't deny that there was something oddly touching about the scene. Kind of creepy with the corpses, but Zeno's intentions were good... and it did bring back some memories for her too.

Memories of better times. When she had a family. When she didn't feel so alone and unwanted.

She had been looking away from the scene, but as Zeno finishes and speaks, she looks back to him and nods. "Not a word," her voice was soft, as if she didn't want to disturb the moment that had just happened.

A console comes to life for a moment and then the bulkheads open. The console goes dark and there is stillness in the air.

Maintaining his open link to the sadness he talks to the others.

"I think that we're in a cursed ship. And I suspect we're not going to get much out of it until we put the spirit here to rest," he says drying his tears.

"The sandstorm's gonna be a bitch. And I don't know of any proper funerary rites for the people of his clan or era. But a burial might be best. Perhaps a grave marker and a burial near his ship?"

"Might be easier if we had names for them as well."

He echoes the words in his mind hoping to get a positive response.

"Hmmm..." Shaisha lets her knuckles rest against her chin as she considers possibilities.

"We could use some of the scrap to make a grave marker. The burial would be difficult, considering the storm, but... it would seem the right thing to do. We might be able to find something like a shovel or something in one of the other rooms we searched yesterday."

"I'm not sensing opposition. Let's get to it," he says. Moving back towards the entrance to the ship and keeping an eye out for shovels or scrap that could be use as shovels or carved into shovels with a lightsaber. As well as a piece of scrap that could be tall enough to be a grave marker.

Looking for tools and scrap, the Sith tags along, keeping an eye out for anything of use for the task.

If the lingering spirits of the ship's owner held sway over the ship, then perhaps this was for the best. She didn't want anyone to encounter something similar she had met last night.

Finding shovels and such is easy in this large ghost ship.

After getting the tools, Zeno braves the sandstorm, thankful for his helmet. And gets to work on the grave in the shadow of the ship, trying to use it for as much cover as possible.

While Zeno did the digging, Shaisha stands in the shelter of the ship as she takes a look over her datapad in an attempt to remember anything about putting the dead to rest or funeral rites.

There are a variety of methods, funeral pyres are big but in lieu of that if one is being traditional one should bury the dead face down so that the Korriban’s sun is always at their back, blinding their enemies even in the afterlife.

"It takes some time and effort, but fortunately his heavy clothing and helmet keep him from being cut to shreds by the blowing sands. Extra long because the winds keep trying to fill the pit back in. He taps his comlink so that Shaisha can hear him without having to shout over the wind. "Bring them down. I don't think the whole will still be here if I stop digging. I'll keep it as empty as possible."

(OOC: Take strain to work hard enough to keep sand from filling in the hole?)
