The Dark Academy on Korriban

Zeno was walking the corridors of the ship. He was excited to be returning to the jungles of Yavin-4. It had been years. He had enjoyed his planetary pilot training there and had good memories of spending time with his Deathwright brothers. He couldn't sleep.

When he saw someone he recognized coming out of Ensign Hines office previously. Someone he had not had the chance to truly meet yet.

Yavin IV.... Niriti could only recall some things of the jungle planet. her talk with Syl had given her some extra insight on what could be expected in the planet, but now that she was on the starship she became aware of the many dangers that she would be facing, specially being a more social orientated person. She sat there, on the floor of the ship wondering when her thoughts were interrupted by a shadow.

The acolyte lifted her head and looked at the presence before her. She had rarely seen him before a couple times, but could recognize him specially since she had seen him that same morning when she had gone into the office of the ensign, and he passed by the hall.

"Hello." She said as she stood up, close to the acolyte. "You are Zeno.... Deathring?"

"Deathwright," he corrects with a chuckle. "I've not caught your name yet though. I recognize you. Saw you outside Ensign Hines' earlier."

"Niriti" She offers her hand palm down so that he can shake it, or kiss it, or whatever he found proper. "Ensign Hines? Oh, yes, we had some business together from time to time. How do you know him?"

She was hiding something, but she was doing that pretty well. (You can try a Perception Roll against the Fluff Roll)

Zeno was not one for picking up on cues or noticing lies. He didn't care for that game. He was a rather straightforward kind of guy.

"We exchange favors from time to time. Got our relationship started when I blackmailed him," he admits freely, like it's something you do every day. "He respected the way I do business. Honest exchanges among brutes is in short supply nowadays. But this morning I was just arranging transport into the valley during the sandstorm."

(OOC: Not trying because not really possible with only 2 dice, just letting it roll)

"Very interesting." She acknowledges with a smile. "What did you blackmail him with?"

He finally sat down next to her, noticing her hand position, and figured he may as well do the gentlemanly thing and kiss it now that he was at her level.

"Well, I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate me sharing that," he said. "But he probably wouldn't mind sharing it with you if your arrangements with him are along the same line as mine. But I don't really know what you do for or with him." He shrugs at that.

She smiled. "We shared the same line of business, Ensign Hines and I, at least that was until today." She sighed, and stretched on the spot while looking at Zeno. "Yavin IV is our new destination, so I guess I will have to leave business for a while. I'm a merchant, you see, getting whatever is needed to those in need." She winked at him casually.

He smirks back. "What do you know. I tend to get things too. It's usually credits from people who don't know how to pay their debts though. Gotta make a few credits somehow," he says with a shrug.

"But just because you're off planet doesn't mean he might not need you to bring something back for him. Make sure you give him a call. And tell him I said hello."

"I love Yavin-4. It's so wild."

"So you were doing some of his heavy work." She guessed by his answer. How would he take it, she wondered as she stared into his eyes. "And you liked this kind of work? Cause I might have some work of the same sort once we are finished with the academy."

"It was... boring. But I got credits and passed the time. Most of the lowlifes that don't pay up are worms. Not a real challenge. What I love is conflict, violence and feeling the passion and heat of battle. It was relatively profitable and nice to have that connection. Got me access to hardware I needed when I needed it."

He smiles at her.

"It was a means to an end. I got some military hardware that I used to wipe out Death's Shadow's pack before the beast could face our group directly. And then we went to work. That is the type of heavy work that I enjoy."

"Might had been more fun to go into the valley and look for some stuff there to sell. That's what I did for Remmington, he would find things and then I would sell them off for some extra credits, or just sell them and get him a good bargain on some new equipment that he needed. Meanwhile I worked in my own business setting, and he helped me out with my blade." She pointed to the shoto blade that rested on her hip.

Zeno looked at the blade, then his eyes wandered until they met her eyes again. "Very nice." He may not have been speaking of the saber.

"I spent some time in the valley, but didn't find much. 3 holocrons, Death's Shadow twice and an ancient pirate vessel. Only have one of the holocrons now, my master has one and some comrades have the other," he shrugs. "Nothing that hasn't already been handled. But I'll keep that in mind. I'll be expecting an assignment for Lord Zash once we get to Yavin. A personal test that I'll face on my own. If I bring anything back that I want to get rid of I'll hit you up."

"And I've been giving Remmington some training in piloting, so I'm somewhat familiar. He cam along on one of our expeditions."

Speaking of the devil, Remmington finishes up some maintenance work on one part of the ship and is moving to the next job when he sees Zeno and Niriti. He offers them a polite bow and smiles. "Having trouble sleeping you two? It's good to see you again acolyte Deathwright."

He flashes a coy smile at Niriti. "Always a pleasure seeing you Niriti."

"Remmington," he says with a nod. "Not so much trouble. Just enjoying the ride. Looking forward to seeing Yavin again." He shrugs.

"That sounds quite interesting. I was rather afraid of venturing too much into the valley on my own, so Remmy and I went a couple times together." She added with a caring tone, indicating a special attention to the human, although not too much to not leave a chance with Zeno for the near future. Holocrons... you need to know how to extract the information from those... it all sounded as too much for Niriti, too much effort and dedication. But she expected an apprentice of Zash to dedicate to it. "I'd be honored to help, although it never is a free gift to sell things, you understand."

Remmington nods in agreement to Niriti. "Valley treks are always... interesting to say the least."

He raises an eyebrow at Zeno's statement. "Oh so you been to Yavin IV before? What can you tell us about it. I haven't been there yet myself and am wondering why the Academy is shipping us all over there."

"Nothing in life is free and the universe will always extract a price. Fortunately, sometimes you get to say no if you don't like that price," he says with a smile. "I'm certain that you'd be fair though. If you weren't you wouldn't have been in business for long."

He then takes on a thoughtful expression.

"It is wild. Not like Korriban where it's dead. For every tuk'ata you would find there, on Yavin there will be four or five larger beasts. The jungles are difficult to navigate. Flying at ground level takes some skill, which is why I was there. Two weeks of planetary piloting training in dense wooded areas. And I hope you don't mind bugs, and a bit of wet heat."

He then smiles viciously.

"But it is primal, wild and full of danger. It feels like a home away from home. Bring on the beasts and monsters."

"Oh it seems like Yavin appeals to your primal instincts there." Remmington ponders that. "Maybe it will be a good time to do some piloting training."

Looking back to Zeno. "Do you know if those beasts fetch a good price?" He asks. May as well make the best of a situation.

"Doubt it," he says, shaking his head. "But I want them for the challenge."

"What type of beasts are they? They could be used for Colosseum services, as challenges for gladiators in some of the planets where that is still allowed. Or maybe as a meat source? or just to keep enemies at bay."

"I'm gonna be honest... I'm not a xenobiologist," he says with a smirk. "All I really know is that they can be vicious and dangerous and I'm gonna take the chance to prove that I'm more-so. I live and breath for two things... conflict and people who prove themselves worthy comrades."

"And what type of comrades would those be?" She asked with a special interest. "Is it only chaos and danger that you need to support your life?"

"Oh, I need all sorts of comrades," he replies with a playful smile. "Comrades in arms, comrades with special skill sets, knowledgeable comrades, comrades that provide entertaining distraction. The more people you know and can gain a modicum of loyalty or favor from, the better."

"That's very clever of you, Zeno Deathwright." She pronounced his last name slowly to make sure she got it right. "I think that it's a very interesting plan that we should all try to maintain. Would you like to be my Ally? "
