The Dark Academy on Korriban

Both Kristal and Sylvain dive for cover as the area lights up with blaster fire… Imperial blaster fire. The area is saturated with blasts and then a pause. Sylvain hears Harn Tremmel shout from his hidden position, “I had wrestled with myself if I should do this, aspirant.”

“This isn’t how I wanted this to go. Father was upset with our request… and then some order came down and hoping to curry favor here I am. I just wanted you to know that before you die. Throw down your weapons, I can promise you clean and swift deaths.”

From his point of cover Sylvain replied, "It still doesn't have to go down like this Tremmel. There's plenty that can be done in exchange for the information you have. Who sent you, and why?"

He paused, "You tell us that, and you and any with you can leave here alive and with the protection of Darth Baras. Refuse... and I'm sorry to say, you won't like the way that information is extracted from you."


(OOC: Any type of roll help my plea or are we headed for a fight?)

Remaining unseen Kristal's natural reaction kicked in. Feeling out with the force to what she could not see she got an idea of how many men currently surrounded them. Hopefully for the life of this Tremmel the number was enough to dissuade a rather angry Kristal from rising to her feet and seeing him removed from the equation without a seconds hesitation.

There had to be an outlet for this... anger, this hate. It might as well be on someone trying to kill her. Usually she had to stifle it, lock herself down. It was rare she had a chance to truly use that anger in a fight.

Day 9 | Tropical Vacation | Sense: 1eF 2 Dark Side

OOC: Coercion roll versus 1 Difficulty and 1 Challenge die with a setback, Upgrading with Destiny for 2 challenge dice.

She can sense six Imperial foot soldiers with the Sith, she can sense them moving in standard formation of two small squads. Tremmel, the younger, is behind a tree keeping cover. The rest of the soldiers are behind trees as well.

"This is your only chance of your men getting out alive and you not suffering terrible pain before you are finally given relief. I will not ask again." He said with force.

Harn is silent and says, “What exactly do you want? I have my Honor as a Sith at stake.”

"I'm Baras' new apprentice.. and as much as he may dislike it, he needs me to keep his plans moving forward. If I die, things may go terribly for him. Which means he'd make things go terribly for you to figure out what exactly caused this problem." He said.

"You and your men stand down, forget that you found us, and tell us who sent you, then we know where to direct Baras' anger. Whoever is asking you to do this is manipulating you into doing something reckless and stupid; you are an acceptable loss to them. You needn't die as a pawn in somebody's game. There's no honor in that. You die here and now, or you die later when Baras tracks you down if you choose to take their path for you. I offer you a path where you don't have to die a pointless and honorless death. Baras is the new acting Minister of War. You want a position of importance and honor? There's plenty of opportunity to show your worth in the Empire's military."

Kristal allowed Sylvain to make his play, but waited for the moment it failed to make her own. Of course if it didn't there would't be any reason to change the outcome.

“I don’t know who, why would they tell me that… just that my father would not commit resources like this unless it came from Baras or someone in league with him,” Harn replies after a moment of thought.

“That is the best you get.”

Kristal remained quiet, cause this was an awkward mis-interpretation of a situation.

Simply, she remained at the ready if things went south.

"That's actually quite helpful. Leave and we have a deal."

Thaine, Layne, or both...

"So we forget this ever happened?" he says tentatively.

"Except the part where I recommend you get a position worthy of your honor for exemplary service to the Empire on Yavin." He said.

Harn swallows hard and says, “The dissidents are dispersed, fall back you lot and be quick about. Any word of this and I will see to it you return to your family in pieces.”

Then there is silence as the Sith and soldiers retreat. Somewhere deep in the pit of his stomach, Harn is relieved.

Sylvain looks over to Kristal and nods. He was thankful she let him solve it his way.

(OOC: Conflict for peaceful solution?)

Pushing herself off the ground and onto her knees she saw to brushing the dirt off her gear. Not looking to Sylvain once, there was a cold precision to her efforts. Having been forced to stay her hand by circumstance meant little.

OOC: Gain 3 conflict.

Sylvain too brushed himself off, but he glanced back and forth at Kristal.

"Probably Thaine or Layne's doing... sorry to get you mixed up with my stuff."

"I doubt it," she said coldly.

"Overseer Thaine has little reason, and certainly less sway than to orchestrate something as quiet as this. Layne doesn't have the power."

He shook his head slightly, "You can choose to disbelieve anything I say. I'm not going to argue with you about things that don't matter."

He then added, "What does matter is that you know I love you... and no matter what you think about me I will always have your back."

He then nodded and said, "G'night Kris... I am sorry I am not worthy of you.."

"We still have to find Zeno, there was the arrangement we promised and I do not aim to allow us to miss it. Even given these circumstances."

Pushing herself to her feet she glanced off toward where she had sensed Harn.

"You gonna talk to me before that?" He asked.

"I have nothing to say, but I cannot and do not intend to stop you from speaking if that is what you wish."

"You never told me if you've talked to your mother... Is she alright?" He asked.

Kristal glanced to the surroundings then to Sylvain, "Walk," She said with that authority that was natural to her. Taking steps in the direction where Zeno would meet them.

"You efforts were successful," She offered as an answer that might throw off anyone listening in if they weren't alone. Paranoia? Perhaps, but as she was learning it paid to be safe.
