"Nothing, as long as you don't look back, nor harbour regret. She's your childhood, and you've come of age. I told her as much."

She paused, smiling faintly.

"She asked me if I love you."

Sylvain nodded, "That door is closed."

Then tilted his head, "And what did you say to that?"

"The truth, Syl. She deserved the truth."

A kiss followed, with wrists crossed at his nape.

"What about me?" He asked with a coy smile, "Do I deserve to hear the truth?"

"After that lame confession you made earlier? No, dear."

Another kiss.

He chuckled, "Well now it would seem contrived... So I'll have to make the moment one that will knock your socks off."

He gave her a kiss in return. "I'll be making that moment happen real soon. Don't worry."

"I don't wear socks, dear. Just my tape in more permissible climates. If your words truly blow it off me, you can have all that's been wrapped in it."

She smiled knowingly.

"The only thing I really worry about is your survival, Syl."

He smirked, "My survival? What for?"

"Apparently for no reason. You have the strength to overcome whatever threatens you."

She smiled warmly, and snuggled into him.

He smiled, "I hope you really do think that."

"I do, Syl. This is the baseline."

She whispered softly, kissing the side of his neck.

"Don't forget it. It may not happen today, but with patience and perseverance... I can make anything happen."

She smelled the skin by his ear.

"Your self-confidence is an addictive aphrodisiac."

He smiled, "As much as I'd like to give you a greater dose of it... We have people waiting for us Moyr... and this particular jungle is no place for me to administer the proper dosage."

He tilted his head down and kissed her neck, "Find me after the battle..."

"No, you find me after the battle, Syl."

One kiss more and she released him, then reapplied her breathing tubes. She was not a woman to drag out romantic moments beyond what made sense for both of them.

"If I feel like it." He said with a wink as he put back on his gear as well.

"True, you can always get incapacitated in the course of war effort and then heavily medicated. That may compromise 'feeling'."

He didn't see her face, it got hooded.

"That wouldn't be acceptable... I'll have to be careful." He chuckled, but now she heard it over their commlink channel.

...and the banter would continue on their way back.
