Remmington has no problem climbing up the tree. If it is not that far then he will lend Layne a hand. If it is farther then he will find a study branch/vine or something to lower to her.

They find a corpse naked… human hanging from their entrails in the tree. There are several cuts and bruises and this poor unfortunate dark skinned human did not go down with a fight…

Once she'd overcome the initial sense of revolt, Layne tried to see if she recognized him. Perhaps it was an imperial guard, or a fellow aspirant...
