The Dark Academy on Korriban

It was his final day at the Academy and before he left there was a matter he felt should be discussed with the enigmatic, and often surly, Lord Savas. Much had been learned, though not what Jo'ren had been expecting. He rapped on the door and waited for an audience.

“Come in, Jo’ren.”

Once inside the old Sith Lord speaks, “I was just scraping my eyes with these reports from some of the younger students. They can teach these children to swing a lightsaber and bring death but proper grammar and punctuation seems to be a lost art.”

“If you’re here to kill me, make it quick, death seems preferable to this torture,” he says as he looks at another report.

"Thank you my Lord."

He followed Savas into the room and watched him as he returned to the latest report. He shook his head in (mostly) mock sympathy, big red hands spreading expansively expansively. "You'd think kids these days would know that there's more to being a Sith than waving a lightsaber around."

He chuckled at the comment about killing. "Did you want it quick and painless or slow and agonising?" Eventually his mirth dropped away to calm.

"I'm curious. How many students have you told?"

“Not many,” he says after a moment of thought.

“They don’t always go Yavin, sometimes it’s Balmorra to support efforts there or Taris if we really just want make everyone suffer. I sense you found something,” he says honestly.

He nodded thoughtfully, examining the mask and imagining who might be behind it. Did you know it was a trap? Or did you think it was a foolish wild tuk'ata chase?

"Yes. I did. I found the Temple. The one described in the book. Page 246."

“So, what did you find, Seeker?” he says putting the reports down.

"I found the temple in which Exar Kun spent some time in training, my Lord." He thought back to the hologram of Dari Van. "I was...tested."

He sat back. "It was a trap."

“You don’t look dead to me, not much of a trap then,” he says calmly.

“Did you find what you were looking for?”

Jo'ren looked back at him without any sign of humour. "It trapped Exar Kun, for a time." Eventually his glare softened and his shook his head slightly. "No my Lord. I found much, much more than I was looking for."

“Then you found what you needed to see. I have no great gift of foresight, but I sensed you would prevail. The Force is strong with you Jo’ren, to what purpose I am sure you will find out,” Lord Savas replies.

"Yes my Lord." He felt calm, justified. "I thought you would like to know I had returned whole."

He rose to his feet and offered the old man a deep bow. "Thank you Lord Savas. I've enjoyed our conversations. Tomorrow I leave on my master's business, but we will see each other again, sooner or later."

“Ask your master for a comfortable chair,” he says with a nod.

"It's all I asked him for. Well, that, and a new copy of Darth Charon’s treatise on the Sith Code." A smile crossed the big Sith's face as he moved to the door and paused before opening it.

"There's a book I'm working on. I'll send you a copy when it's finished. You won't like it though. It's about lightsabers."

He nodded to Lord Savas and opened the door, walking off into the Halls.
