The Dark Academy on Korriban

The path that Layne was taking was obviously not the right one, no matter which way she went she found more wind carved red canyons and shifting sand. The day was getting hotter as she found some brief shade in the shadow what was either a strange rock formation or an ancient pillar… maybe a statue. It was so worn and weathered it could have been anything.

Then she saw movement, a cloaked figure moving through the rocks, stopping every now and then to pick over something in the dust.

OOC: Spending a Dark side Destiny for Layne to have an encounter.

Where the fuck was she? There's... rocks over here. Rocks over there. She'd been going in that direction over there before, but... no wait, maybe it was the other way? Damn it! And things had been going so well with that... creature she'd killed a while back. Whatever it was. Good thing her knife had been enough to handle it.

Fucking LUNATICS! AT LEAST GIVE ME A MAP

Her hand went to her still bloodied knife, and she steeled herself for the potential of combat.

"Show yourself," she demanded.

The man seemed puzzled by the voice and then stood to his full height and looked at Layne from beneath the cowl of his hood. An ill but warm wind blew through the narrow canyon as he stood in silence.

Finally the man, it was definitely a man by posture and frame, spoke, “Are you real or another vision?” His voice was dry and cracked like an old monument left out in the sun for far too long.

A lunatic of a different kind

"I'm real," she said. "Who the fuck are you?"

The lunatic chuckled loudly and then knelt to run his fingers through the red sand. He spoke to the earth, “Hush now, save your secrets my friend. Yes… I feel it too, a great change has come to this world.”

He then looked up, “Real you say? Only the dead come to Korriban, a dead world waiting to live again. You are not dead so you must be Sith… no you are not Sith yet… but you have the anger…. Good.”

"What the hell are you talking about? You're not making any sense."

She kept her knife ready, just in case. This man obviously wasn't right in the head.

“What is that on the wind, can you hear it? Is that my destiny?” he said putting his ear to the ground.

“Do you know the Code?” he said rising to his full height. “No… you are a child, a lost child roaming the wastes. I am never lost, not on Korriban.”

"Code? What code? Speak sense already!"

“But I am speaking sense, you are the Code but you don’t know the Code. Maybe you are an illusion of the Code,” he said.

“I am speaking sense, but are you listening?” he said coldly.

"Fine," she gritted her teeth. Maybe this was someone from the academy who'd escaped and gone mad. Maybe they knew stuff. "Tell me about this code."

“Peace is a Lie,” he started to pace as he spoke, “There is only Passion. Through Passion I gain Strength. Through Strength I gain Power. Through Power I gain Victory. Through Victory my chains are broken. The Force shall set me Free.”

“And you, fierce illusion have many chains upon you.”

"And I suppose you know how to rid me of them," she said, clearly skeptical.

“No one can break the chains of another, true freedom comes from within,” he said with a shake of his head.

“Only Spindral can free Spindral, only Layne can free Layne.”

"Then maybe I'm already free, and maybe you're just confused. Seems to me like I'm not missing any of the steps on that fancy code of yours."

Wait a fucking second...

"Wait, how do you know my name?"

“The ghosts told me, can’t you hear them? They know a great deal about you,” he said as he reached into his cloak and pulled a small canteen and drank a sip.

Or maybe you're reading my mind, you bastard.

"And what else do they say about me?"

“That you should listen to them,” he replied.

Oh why the hell not. She might as well try, right? Only question is... how? Maybe it was some sort of meditation bullshit. She could use the rest in any event.

"Fine."

She closed her eyes; and tried to listen. Tried to tap into... what was it that it was? The Force. Yeah. Stupid name. But that's what she tapped into, hoping she wasn't just wasting her time.


Force Roll to Listen: 1eF 1 Dark Side

Opening herself to the Dark Side that flowed all around her she heard them… the dead the many dead. Many hissed and cursed at her, some called her slave but one… one knew her.

How she knew that… perhaps all things were connected through the Force, some more than others.

The Sith spirit spoke in a whisper, “Flesh of my flesh.”

"Flesh of my flesh?" She asked, hoping this... spirit... if it was real... could be communicated with. "What does that mean?"

“You do not know me? Surely you are here on Korriban to reclaim your legacy, to honor our line? My name was to least eternal, I conquered billions, left countless Jedi broken in my wake,” the spirit hissed, the voice moving all around her.

Spindral nodded and said, “You hear them, Korriban knows you, Layne.”

"What..." she was confused. What did this mean? Did she have Sith ancestors? That was crazy. "Who are you? What's your name?"
