The Dark Academy on Korriban

Shaisha hummed innocently and slipped away, leaving the two to themselves.

She trusted they wouldn't fire up their lightsabers to work out the differences, after all.

The feeling of her grip on his arm held him in place, "Kris..."

He said gently, probing to see if anything was forthcoming.

With the hum she glanced over toward Shaisha to see her leaving. Not quite sure what to make of that she looked back to Sylvain. Letting her hand slip from his arm when it was clear there was no more danger of falling.

Still not quite sure of what to say she glanced down to his bag and then back to him, "You're leaving?"

He nodded, "Dromund Kaas... and my next assignment."

He pointed and looked for Shaisha who wasn't there, "I was passing by your room, but didn't want to wake you."

"I have not been able to manage much sleep of late," she admitted. Taking a single step back to make it so they weren't quite as on top of one another. It was hard to believe, despite everything, that this was really where they were going to be separate from one another for so long. The Terrible Trio were off to have their own solo adventures across the galaxy.

"So, you are heading back home then."

"I am sorry to hear that you're having a difficult time sleeping..." He said with genuine concern.

"Going home... and not I suppose. Since I won't have the two of you with me." He said with a weak smile.

There was a lull, a bit of time were Kristal let the moment drift to silence as she shifted gears a bit.

"I will be going into surgery before I get back out there," she offered her own destination. "Will give me plenty of reason to repay Darth Marr. Recommendation from Captain Harad, bankrolled by my Master. I will be whole again..."

Not that it feels like that at all.

He smiled and nodded.

Fully whole?

"I'm glad to hear that. Darth Marr is wise to be so generous. You deserve to be whole again." He said with a weak smile.

Maybe I really am being replaced in her heart...

"I will miss your grounded wisdom and practicality when you are sent out. I'm sure Darth Marr will benefit greatly from your support. It has been an anchor for me for quite some time... I know I will miss it dearly."

Out in the hall wasn't necessarily where she wanted to stand and chat, but offering for him to step inside didn't feel entirely appropriate.

"It shows a great many things about his commitment," she said with that underlying confidence in herself.

"You will be fine, become a man that your Father could be proud of."

Sylvain tilted his head skeptically for a moment.

I don't see myself being fine for quite some time... Not without you...

The words were on his lips, but he couldn't bring himself to saying them.

"I will strive to be a man that he would want me to be..." His voice lacked the same amount of confidence, but the reasons were probably not readily apparent.

He paused for a few moments, "Kris... I... I'm taking steps to make you proud to call yourself my friend again one day..."

I'll miss you too. Was something she couldn't say before and not now. In part it was true but that she needed the time to separate herself and heal it would have felt insincere.

"Good," she said, at least moving off the direct path of the hallway. Indication enough she wasnt looking to run off to her room at least.

"I cut ties with Moyr." He said plainly. "She was leading me down a path that took me further from what I want to be. I was a fool to even start down it... but I hope I can make my way back to where I want to be."

"I.." she started, but then stopped herself for a moment. Perhaps it was a poison from the woman she quite didn't like. Delivered to Sylvain when he was at his weakest and turning him sideways. Certainly she had twisted Kristal's thoughts with her point of view. It was something Kristal could never be sure of. However, allowing the Twi'lek to be the villain allowed her to push forward.

".. am glad to hear that Sylvain."

He nodded, "I've lost a great deal in the past few weeks... and sought to find a way to fill those holes in ways that ultimately only bring about my own destruction."

He put a hand gently on her shoulder, "But not anymore. I know what is important to me now, and there is nothing that will take me from what I need to be... and do. I look forward to the day that you can see that in me again."

He smiled, "Until then... goodbye for now."

There wasn't much she could come up with to say to most of it, but she listened.

"Goodbye for now," she said, letting him make his leave.

Though, just before he was out of earshot she offered one last part. Making sure he was as together as she could allow herself to make him.

"I do not hate you... I want you to know that."

Sylvain stopped a few steps away as she said her last statement, turned and looked at her, "That's a good start Kris."

Then with deep intent, "Ever since we were kids I've helped coax you out of the recesses of what you thought to be your own comfortable space... and so I'll ask for you to do it once more..."

He paused, "I need... you need... we need, more out of this relationship than the absence of hate... it's a good start Kris, but don't forget I offer everything anytime you are ready for it... Friendship, companionship, honesty, duty, strength, courage, loyalty, support, love, commitment... I offer it all, any and all whenever you are ready. No more mistakes... no more errant paths..."

He then nodded his head, "Be safe. I'll wait for you... Even a lifetime of discipline and patience is worth what could be on the other end."

He then smiled weakly and turned to leave if not stopped.

There was intent in those words, the good kind and it helped her along. Though it would be a much longer time before she could feel ready to trust again, to move past that breach of the one thing she held dearest to her this was, as he said, a good start. For now though, it was all it could be.

"I'm not ready yet," she spoke the words they both clearly understood already but then added, "but I won't forget."

After that she would just watch him as he left.

When she was alone again she spoke quietly to herseld before reyurning to her room


"Till I see you again."

Sylvain fought the urge to look back one last time. As much as he wished he would turn and see Kristal running after him, he knew that was not going to happen. He had done his best. He had ended his relationship with Moyr, and chosen his path... And he was happy with his choice, even if it was a hard road in front of him.

That was better than this morning... Just stay the course. This is the most effective course.

He slipped on his mask at the end of the hall and headed towards the spaceport and far from Korriban... For now.
