The 'alleged' FFG plan (only alleged by those not involved with FFG as developers never post on the forums) is that the F&D careers are split into two groups - mystical and martial. Only the mystical ones will get a 2 Force Rating specialisation.

Mystical = Consular, Mystic, Seeker
Martial = Guardian, Sentinel, Warrior

Not sure how much stock I put in that theory but it has held true for the three Career books out so far.

I do like the hermit.

Companion Animal and +2 Force Rating . . . it is a very attractive specialisation.

How regularly are these books released?

I wouldn't call it regular. We have bursts of 3 or 4 and then nothing for 2-3 months.

Sentinel book came out last/this month. Next AoR adventure is due in a few weeks and the Bounty Hunter book for EotE straight after that. Then a month gap until the next F&D adventure.

And that's as far as we know so far. FFG don't announce things very early anymore. First we hear of a book is usually just as it finishes up development and playtesting. In the old days we got 6-9 months advance warning, not any more.

Already out are the Core rulebook, starter game and screen for all 3 gamelines, plus an extra starter set for The Force Awakens.

EotE has 5/6 Career books, 3 adventures and 2 sourcebooks out.
AoR has 4/6 Career books, 1 adventure and 1 sourcebook out.
F&D has 3/6 Career books, 1 adventure and 1 sourcebook out.

I suppose I could use a Mystic book someday. But I've got plenty on my table to last me a while.

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a Sentinel book... Look at more toys for Shien that I will never get.

Also yay, BH! Also looking forward to Spy book from AoR, cause the current specs, are weird I think. Infiltrator, which is melee monster with minor stealth bonus, slicer and scout.

Those sound pretty nice but I still need to wrap my head around the current core book first.

I need to study up on space combat.

I am interested in Suppress, seems pretty solid with all these Force Lighting wielding Darths running around. Don't have the book so I don't know the upgrades.

I'm interested in power.

And more power.

So for someone who knows the system...

If I were to use Suppress when targeted by some aggressive force power and I generated 3 force points, can I commit them all to give 3 failures or is that what the strength upgrades are for?

The way I read it is I would need both Strength upgrades to be able to use all three force points I generated to give three failures. Is that right?

You can activate the basic power 3 times. If you have the strength upgrade you can activate that upgrade once and the basic power 2 times. Specifically because the basic power says you can activate it multiple times. Most do not say that.

So... Spend 2 on the normal ability for 2 failures, 1 on the strength upgrade for an additional failure(s) equal to Strength upgrades purchased? But that would still be 3 failures because you only gain failures equal to Strength boosts you've bought.

Sorry, i was looking at the wrong force power. You can activate the base power once. Then if you have the strength upgrade you can spend one point on it to increase the number of failures added. The third point would be wasted or spent on activating another upgrade.

That's a shame. It seems to be a bit weaker than I hoped. Removing 1 success with Masters who have 3-5 Force die is mostly just going to remove 1 damage from their lightning rather than make them fail. Suppress doesn't end up being all that great until you get the Control upgrade that allows you to commit Force die to reduce the force they produce, and then only when you have Force Rating of 2-3.

Cool idea for a power though.

While the game offers a lot of fun options, some things do seem much better than others. Like the Sense Force Power. It's super-gold for fighter-types. I didn't even look at it very much at the start until I saw others using it here for super-effect... Sense to me seemed at first like the kind of power that was more fitting to a non-fighter type. Until I realised how good it was for fighter-types.

Suppress is one of the rare things that can beat it.

You just need to spend 55 XP, beat the other person in a discipline check and use 2 force points.....

and it doesn't beat it, just uncommits it and wastes a round

Remember all the Force powers in the RAW game are written for a time when there is only one Jedi (hiding in a swamp) and only 2 Sith (both definitely NPCs).

FFG are trying to make sure that Force Sensitives do not overpower all the other non Force careers. (This game was very much not what FFG wrote for, usual advice is only ONE Force Sensitive per party.)
