The Dark Academy on Korriban

Shaisha smiled. "You've proven yourself capable enough of surviving Korriban's wilderness, and cordial in our exchange. I see no reason to be antagonistic towards you, fellow acolyte. I know others may not share that same sentiment, but as you say, we are here to become chosen of the Emperor, no?"

“You are absolutely right and pretty… pretty right too,” he said with a nod.

The femme Sith laughed. "Trying to win me over with flattery, acolyte Gerald?"

“Is it working?” he said with nervous bravado.

"Perhaps," she grinned. "Not going to claim I'm immune to flattery."

He beamed and said, “So you have been here before did you train here?”

"I've been here a few times for training, so it's not my first time here. Hopefully, this will be my last time here as an acolyte. I've mostly done my training on Dromund Kaas, and before that, Ziost."

“I have never been to Ziost, is it as nice as everyone says? I read about it, but well reading and being there are two different things,” he said.

"It's... very different from Korriban and Dromund Kaas, especially Dromund Kaas. It's a little like Korriban, but it's cold and there is much ice covering parts outside the cities and settlements. Kind of like a cold version of Korriban, you could say?" she chuckled. "It's been quite some time since I was last there."

“A cold version of Korriban, no offense, but I think I will pass on visiting there any time soon,” he said with a light chuckle.

"Is that so?" she grinned. "A pity. It can be very pretty. At least, I find myself missing snow on occassion... not much of that on Dromund Kaas, and not here on Korriban either."

“I mean I could go, you know like in the future,” he said softening his stance nervously.

“I mean if it is as pretty as you say.”

"So what's it like in your hometown? It must be very different from Kaas City, I wager?" she turned the tables on him.

“Well it’s a farming town, with large fields everywhere we cleared out the land and have several agri-droids working the land. I spent most of my time in class or working on the droids. I was a budding engineer and wanted to be a clerk or maybe if I got lucky a civil engineer. Then I started manifesting Force potential and well I got tested and some rudimentary training and now I am here,” he said.

“I am going to miss the Orben Berry festival, first time since well ever. They grow wild in the hills but we domesticated them and make pies and drinks and crèmes.”

"Orben... Berry Festival?" she cocked her head to the side. That sounded rather... different from what she was used to.

“Oh yeah all the towns folk try their best pie recipe, so much pie. Oh and then we have the dancing and it’s just a big party really. Everyone pitches in and much of the town is shut down for like three days. Last year father got so drunk, we never did figure out how he got up in that tree but he wouldn’t come down all night said he wanted to be a bird,” he shook his head laughing at the memory.

That sounded so... so... what would be the word Syl's family would use? Quaint? Country?

She let out a small laugh as she raised her hand to her lips. "That sounds very different from the so-called parties in Kaas City. Apart from the drunkenness... and stupid acts of drunkenness."

"What are those parties like?" he said.

"Often very boring. Tedious. The more nobles gathered, the more it turns into a peacock show." She shook her head. "Though, partying with the ones our age is much more fun. Less protocols to be observed and all, and more people wanting to have a good time blowing off steam rather than just showing off the latest fashion."

"Ended up hijacking a speeder once and taking an unplanned shortcut into a nest of vine cats outside the city limits."

“Vine cats are very dangerous!” he said in response.

“Was anyone hurt?”

"Not much, nothing a medical droid couldn't easily patch up after we got ourselves back home. The speeder had certainly seen better days though..."

Ah, those had been fun times.

“I am not sure I could just lose a speeder like that, they are not cheap,” he said focusing on that aspect of the story.

Shaisha shrugged, having already heard that particular lecture from the Torsins. Not that they were lacking in the money departement, but the lecture of how wasteful it had been, and how angry the rightful owner of the speeder had been... even if it was an outdated model that needed to be upgraded.

"Guess it didn't occurr to us to think about that when we were riding the high of some of the finer wines of Dromund Kaas combined with the priviliege of being future Sith."

“I guess that’s true,” he said in agreement. The kind of agreement one gives when they don’t really understand the other’s point of view.

"Don't worry about it too much... Gerrie." She grinned as she used he nickname Xevine had mentioned Jo'ren using.

"When you become a Sith lord yourself, you don't have to worry about the cost of speeders that much."
