The Dark Academy on Korriban

Sylvain nodded, smiled, and winked at his friend as she sat down. It was nice with Kris there never was the need to interrupt a conversation to force her into it, she was more than willing to jump in and out with ease.

Kristal offered a nod to Shaisha with a few words, "You as well."

There was a look in Kristal's eye. Commendation; she knew Shaisha would make it easily enough. It was something she never doubted for a second. Seeing her again was simply pleasant. Then, to Sylvain, she shared a slight nod in greeting once again. After all once they had made their way through he disappeared for a time on his own.

Xevine gave a small nod. "I shared quarters with a scion of the Rath family and Gerald Hin." She smirked. "Or Gerrie, as Jo'ren liked to call him."

Following the others she inclined her head towards the newcomer, but didn't greet her verbally yet. "Hmph, Jedi." She thrust her chin out in arrogance. "I'm looking forward to battling them. The stories that have been passed down in my House.... it is glorious."

Sylvain's smile took on an unusual look, "I wonder what it would be like to meet a Jedi. Must be quite different than one of our instructors here."

He nodded in thanks as the bartender had his and Shaisha's drinks sent over.

"If we survive our trials, perhaps we won't have to wait long to have the opportunity."

"There will be time for glorious battle, in due time," she chuckled over the rim of her glass. "Personally, I'm most looking forward to being a fully-fledged Sith. An apprentice, but Sith, and tasked with more than just trekking through the wastes to see who can run the fastest."

Sylvain chuckled, "You mean you aspire to more than what a simple runaway slave is capable of?"

Speak of the devil; someone who could be described as a runaway slave; by those who knew her background; walked into the cantina. She looked a little frazzled; and certainly dustier than seemed comfortable. One might also note there seemed to be some blood on her clothes, though there were no apparent injuries. Layne looked like she'd come straight from the wastes; which was true enough.

She headed straight for the bar, eager for some liquid refreshment. Credits were hard to come by for someone like her, but this was the one time she felt okay spending what seemed like a fortune to her on a mere drink.

The golden embers of her eyes took notice of the "runaway slave" entering. It wasn't hard to notice someone like Layne, after all.

"Speak of the Hutt, Syl," she said in a quiet, but amused tone.

Sylvain chuckled slightly, "Should we invite her over, surely such serendipity couldn't be by chance?"

"If you dare," she smirked. "You always claim to be the talker out of our trio."

Taking a good look over the brooding youth, Sylvain began judging her just from an outward appearance. She looked upset about something and words may not be of much use.

He smiled slightly and arose from his seat. "I'll give it a try. Wish me luck."

Sylvain walked up to the bar and leaned up on the bar next to the woman, "Afternoon. What are you drinking? Can I get you something?"

If he was hitting on her, she didn't care. Free stuff was always good.

"Whatever this is," she stated, looking down at the drink that had cost her 5 credits.

Shaisha watched the exchange with seeming calm. Her drink had been placed down on the table, and one arm was draped over the back of the chair. The other hand made sure that her concealed knife inside the sleeves of her robes was in place.

Sylvain looked at the bartender, pointed to the girl and then to himself.

"I've got it covered for you Aspirant. You look like you've had a rough morning." He said with a welcoming smile.

Layne, of course, also had a concealed knife. And some brass knuckles which weren't concealed but not exceedingly obvious either. And some broken-ass ancient looking sword stowed away somewhere.

"If you say so," she replied.

Rough wasn't the word she'd used. Strange, was more like it.

He nodded, "Not the best way to wake up in the morning huh? 'Get off my ship and walk across a desert to your new shit-hole of a home'." He smiled, "If that doesn't call for a drink I don't know what does."

Taking a sip of his drink he said, "Name's Sylvain."

She was too tired to think of some way to avoid having to give her name whilst simultaneously displaying dominance.

"Layne Hoshin," she said; just going for the truth.

It hadn't been the walk that did it for her. Oh no. Crazy shit had gone down. And she didn't know it, but crazier shit still was to come.

"Nice to meet you Layne." He said with a warm smile, "First time on Korriban?"

Ugh...

"First time talking to a girl?"

Yeah, she hadn't been impressed with the cliche. And also, she'd decided she wasn't tired enough to try the dominance thing after all.

Shaisha had to bite down on her lip to keep herself from laughing.

Only need a proper meal now, then I could have dinner and a show!

Unlike his sister Sylvain could not refrain from laughing.

"Surprisingly, no. I actually pride myself on my ability to talk with people." He continued to chuckle a bit in a self-deprecating manner, "Seems I have quite a bit more work to do."

He moved to sit down next to her on a stool.

Pointing to the blade hanging from her side he asked, "That's an interesting weapon. Is it a family heirloom?"

She rolled her eyes as he decided to sit down next to her. Then he pointed to the artifact she'd found out in the wastes.

Shit, she hadn't secured that thing properly? Ah crap, some of it was sticking out, wasn't it?

"No," she said simply; devoting more words to it than that would probably only draw attention to it even more.

He smiled and nodded, "I see."

He motioned over to the group sitting in the corner, "If you'd like you can come and have your drinks with me and my friends. Korriban can be a lonely and crazy place... but it doesn't have to be one of those things."

He tried to be as kind and charming as he could without being overbearing.

She considered getting rid of him. There was no such thing as 'friends', after all. She didn't need to be Sith to know that. But who knows. Maybe she'd get more free drinks out of it. And she still needed to learn more about what the fuck was even going on here in the first place; and this might work towards that goal.

"Fine," she said, getting up.

He smiled brightly, "Excellent, come on over I'll introduce you."

Walking over to the group Sylvain gestured to Layne and said, "Everyone this is Layne Hoshin. Layne this is Shaisha Vreysk, Kristal Serasai, and.... Xevine Distraacht right?"
