The Dark Academy on Korriban

What do you do when you've arrived before most other aspirants and a Dark Lord has just given you a lesson on how one becomes great? That's right, hit the books. Or computers in this case.

Jo'ren might be cocky and arrogant (he was both) but he wasn't stupid, no matter how much he played it up from time to time. No, it was pointless to head off into the wilderness without first attending to due diligence. Thus it was that he found himself a little squeezed into the chair at one of the computer terminals scattered throughout the Halls of Darkness.

Big fingers tapped gently upon the keys with surprising dexterity. "Okay computer. Give me everything you've got on the Valley of the Dark Lords. Layout. Past surveys. Rumours. Everything."

The data systems spat out data on previous excavations many of them ending in disaster or large losses of life. There have been some successful ones lead by Lord Zash but much of the information has been redacted. He does get a general layout of the major tombs and what has been brought out of them.

A droid approached and said, “Greetings I am 2V-R6, may I assist you aspirant?”

OOC: With the armed info it would give him a Boost die to Perception, Education, or Survival rolls in that area.

That was a good haul. Jo'ren was pleased with his progress when the helpful droid arrived. He nodded and looked into its expressionless receptors.

"Hello 2V-R6. Sure, you can tell me where I pick up my training saber, and where I can sign out some climbing gear and a wilderness survival pack."

“That would fall under Overseer Rona Thaine, shall I send her a message making the request?” 2V-R6 replied dutifully.

He thought about it carefully, although the name didn't mean anything yet.

"Before we get to that stage, perhaps you could tell me about this Overseer Rona Thaine, and whether we are scheduled to receive a training saber during orientation tomorrow?"

“I cannot divulge details on a future exam but it is standard practice per Darth Acomo to have training sabers made available for all relevant exercises,” the droid replied.

“Overseer Rona Thaine is a Sith, she is 24 years of age in good standing and apprentice to Lord Baras.”

"You're pretty useful to have around you know droid." He steepled his fingers. "Right then, here is the request that I would like you to send: Aspirant Jo'ren Rath respectfully wishes to know what sort of favour the Overseer would find appropriate in exchange for signing out: one training saber, one wilderness survival kit, and one set of climbing gear."

“I am not programmed for pride but if I was it would be utilized right now, aspirant. I have made the request to Rona Thaine, is there anything else you need?” 2V-R6 responded.

"You should get a pride chip installed 2V, you work for the Sith, own it." He pondered whether there was anything else he needed. He snapped his fingers and then tapped the desk.

"Actually, yes. If I wanted to find some assorted spare parts that no-one would miss, within the Academy grounds, where would I find them?"

“I do not understand the exact meaning of the question, but the spaceport would be a good place to go for spare parts,” the droid replied dutifully.

"You didn't understand, but you still muddled through." Jo'ren reached out and patted the droid on the back with one big hand. "Spaceport, gotcha. Stay useful buddy."

The big sith grinned and then returned his focus to the notes and maps he had acquired, looking for something that others might have overlooked.

The droid shifted under the weight of the pats and said, “Thank you aspirant, It is the intent that my responses will not cause you to dismantle me or damage my chassis.”

Jo'ren chuckled. "Well, you're safe so far. Of course if I can't find the right sized power core for my lightsaber at the spaceport..." He shrugged, keeping his eyes on the data he had collected. "Let's hope I do. You're more fun powered up."

2V-R6 replied, “I see, I shall adjust my expectation baseline accordingly.”

"Well, we're all learning together 2V. You keep adjusting that baseline and I'll do the equivalent. It seems I have much to learn." He pulled up the maps again, looking for clues.

Her steps echoed through the silent hall. The intimidating building was made so that even her heartbeats seemed to make an echo through the halls. Her breathing was calm, although she could feel her senses awakened and attentive to her surrounding, like anything could jump on her. She reaches to the strange other presence in the room.

"Good afternoon." She asks with her willowy voice.

Looking up from the terminal he noted the arrival of an unfamiliar human. A nod was offered.

"Yeah, it's alright thanks. Same to you.". A smile spread briefly across his face.

"Here to study too?"

Remmington stops by the hall with much the same thing in mind. He offers a polite bow to the others. "Good afternoon. Is that not we are all here to do?" He asks as he finds a seat and starts up the computer.

Jo'ren shrugged. "I haven't completed my training in mind reading, so for the moment I'm reduced to verbal inquiry." He gave the newcomer a smooth smile.

"Did you enjoy the wastes this morning?"

"Study?" She asked, "it's only been hours since I got here, why would I want to do that much?" She looked out to the rest of the room, letting her body curve and sway as she walked about around the pair of men, her finger slightly caressing their chest. "I've come to look at the halls that are going to be our training ground, and maybe read a bit about the history of the planet. But now that I'm here I found more interesting subjects." She smiled.

Jo'ren grinned. "Oh really? Feels like I've been here all day... Good idea though, get to know your battleground."

The touch was pleasant even if he wasn't that interested in any species but his own.

"2V-R6 here'll get you sorted out with a terminal if you want to learn about the history of the place."

Remmington nods to Jo'ren. "It was a rather enjoyable jaunt this morning actually. I have absolutely no complaints about the company I was with." He says with a slight grin. "Nice to meet you by the way Acolyte. I didn't see you on the ship but I'm Remmington Thalalas."

He smiles at Niriti but otherwise continues to stay at the desk he is sitting at. "Knowledge is a form of power too. It never hurts to obtain more."

Looking over to the droid. "2V-R6. I wish for your assistance in looking something up for me."

"Glad to hear it. Nice way to warm up for training in my opinion. But maybe that's just me?". His big sholders shrugged. "I'm Jo'ren Rath. Pleased to meet you too."

"Ah, you are more the physical adventurous type I take it Jo'ren? I heard we have an interesting instructor for saber training." Remmington comments.

Jo'ren chuckled. "Guilty as charged. Adventure runs in my blood Remmington." The smile lasted a while.

"You hear right, she's an interesting woman for sure." Hot hot hot. "Strange accent, slightly absent. I'm looking forward to seeing what she can do."

His swept his eyes over the human. "What about yourself? What type are you?"
