The Dark Academy on Korriban

While the sun it still out yet rather late for those working on a 24 hour clock, Remmington heads over to the training hall to work on his saber skills. After working on his hilt he decides he is in much need of practice.

Jaina was seated by herself drinking water and watching a few students train.

Remmington picks up a training saber and starts going through one of his saber forms. He completes it without too much trouble but he accidentally clips his leg. If that had been a real saber he may have gotten hurt.

Once he finishes he offers a bow to the instructor. "Good evening lord."

“You don’t have a leg anymore,” she said in response.

Remmington laughs that one off a little. "Yeah, I guess I still need some work. Do you mind if I get some lessons from you lord Instructor?"

"Can I finish my meal," she said.

"Oh yes, of course lord Instructor." Remmington replies.

"That is an unusual accent you have. Are you perhaps from Nar Shaada?" He asks.

“It’s from the Core,” she said.

“Nar Shaddaa, never been.”

"The Core? As in the Republic?" Remmington seems confused for a moment and then checks to verify something. He nods. "Ah I see...." That answers some other questions he had.

A triumphant Layne returned back to the academy. Possibly a little worse for the wear; though if she was, she'd have covered any injuries up enough so that they wouldn't be immediately obvious to anyone. The look on her face; and more importantly, the seriously bad-ass and ancient looking lightsaber at her side; made her hard to miss. She might even have been strutting as she crossed the training grounds.

Where the hell is everyone? I want to rub this thing in their faces

Seeing Layne Remmington waves his hand to her. "Yo acolyte Layne. Looks like you found something good."

“Yes.”

That was all the reply Jain gave.

"Is it alright if I borrow one of these training sabers? I wish to get in some more practice on my own later." Remmington asks.

Aww, I wanted it to be one of the fops... although... who'se that with him?

She approached, looked down at the saber by her side, and then back up to Remmington.

"Yes, I have." she said, and looked to Jaina Von.

"Who'se this?"

"Our training instructor." Remmington replies to Layne. "Where did you find that by the way?"

He offers a bow to Jaina. "Forgive the late introduction. I am Remmington Thalalas."

"This? This is my birthright."

Yeah, she'd been cautioned against declaring her ancestry; but she was feeling proud today. And in all likelihood, nobody would know the specifics of what she just said anyway. Unless the blade was truly that unique of course...

...which it might well be.

"Knock yourself out," Jaina says calmly.

"Training instructor?" She turned to Jaina in earnest now, considering. Part of her felt slighted that the instructor wasn't fawning over the awesome new lightsaber that Layne had brought back; but that was secondary to pragmatism.

"Then you are just the person I need. I already know I have talent. Now I need technique. I was hoping perhaps you could teach me a few things."

Remmington bows in thanks. "My thanks lord Instructor."

He looks over Layne with a quizzical look. "Birthright? I thought all your family had already passed away and you knew nothing about the Sith?" Something is not adding up here.

“I see you have your own weapon, you have skill. Raw.”

She gestures and says, “Train.”

OOC: Three Lightsaber skill rolls at Easy difficulty, two setback if you are trying to impress her. She is watching your form.

She activated her lightsaber; extending it with that unusual high pitched whirring noise that sounded so satisfying to her ears. Its blade, black as the void; drawing in all light toward it; looking all the more impressive now that she wasn't stuck in some dark tomb. Its activation came accompanied with a wicked smile of victory; like the former slave that she was, this was the moment she announced to the world that Layne Hoshin was a force to be reckoned with.

Yet her form was basic indeed; raw as the instructor had said. But she pushed it farther than a mere novice ought to be able to, though the energies of the force, hidden in the ancient broken blade that still sat in its sheath, that buoyed her efforts and helped her overcome the difficult task of impressing the instructor.

“You do that weapon no justice,” she says calmly.

“You need more practice, more training. Shii-cho is the most basic form and it forms the foundation for any lightsaber combatant.”

She approached and began demonstrating the basic forms, "You need to master this, make it second nature. Raw talent is not enough."

"Should I do another demonstration as well?" Remmington asks.

"That is why I am here," she said.

Bitch, did I not not say exactly that?

Despite her annoyance, she paid close attention to the forms being demonstrated, and started mimicking them.

"You both need to train, and it will never be enough," she says to both aspirants.
