Zyn was in the middle of her studies. Taking a break from physical labor, she lourde herself into the works on sith alchemy recommended by Zash.

"Lots of hocus pocus...I wonder how this truly works"

She mused to herself.

Along comes a chime or a knock or however else a visitor might announce themselves to the door that provided passage to the room; behind which Layne stood with a rather ancient and broken looking droid. Like, really ancient. Also, how did she even manage to get it over here? Drag it all the way? Sure there was a little bit of life left in the thing but it wasn't very cooperative.

Baesal turned towards the door, curious, and went to open it.

"Layne? Please come in. She gestured to the junk filled room..."

"Sure," she said, as if it were complete coincidence she was here.

She dragged along the droid.

"Found this. Was thinking you might want to take a look."

Baes gave a whistle and inspected the old thing

"That droid is incredibly ancient. Where did you find it?"

"Same place I found my lightsaber," she said; which indeed was another thing of note.

Of course, the past couple of weeks, lots of the students had been talking about how unusual hers was. They said it was black; and that its shape when activated wasn't like a normal saber. And also that the sound it made was different.

"I see" she say raising an eyebrow

"So...do you want me to repair it, check it for useful data or is it a gift?"

"If you can give me whatever data is in there, I guess you can keep the droid."

Baesal look surprised and quickly smiled

"Deal!" She exclaimed

"You are refreshing to deal with Layne...could you put the droid in the corner? I'll see what I can do."

"Sure," she said; moving the droid over to the corner that had been indicated.

"Say," she said, as she was moving it, "you wouldn't happen to know what sort of crystal would make a lightsaber's color be white, would you?"

She thanked Layne as she plugged wires from the droid's core to her pad and inspected him more closely.

"A white colored saber?" She frowned as she worked on the bot

"I doubt a natural Khyber crystal could give that color...a crystal substitute might do but the best way might be a synthetic crystal artificialy made pure"

She turned to her

"But that is a guess...why do you want to know?"

OOC: Mechanics roll to repair is Average, Computers roll to extract data is Hard with a setback die due to well dealing with tech dating back to around the Great Hyperspace War.

"Darn..." It escaped her teeth

"Repairs should not be problematic but the droid's brain is so ancient it will be a challenge to translate the data...still want me to do it?"

"Cause a white shoto will go great with my lightsaber," she said, earnest as could be.

Before the conversation could move further in that direction, Baesal was commenting on the options available in regards to the droid.

"Tsk," she thought about it for a while. "repair it I guess. Maybe it'll just give out whatever info's it got. Just... whatever it spits out, *it stays in this room*. Clear?"

Her tone made it clear she wasn't playing on that part.

Baesal nods seemingly unconcerned

And so she got to work. She put a hand on the droid and small sparks could be seen running from the extended fingers...along their trajectory, the metal of the chassis refused and the wires came alive to reattach themselves in the proper fashion.

''There...That should do it''

"Droid," she demanded as soon as the thing would start functioning properly. "State your function."

The droid hums to life and says, “R5-T8, caretaker for Lord Oshin, greetings sentient beings. This location is outside my operating parameters. I seem to have been misplaced, oh my.”

"I need all the information you have stored inside you. Including the classified stuff."

She didn't actually know if there was any classified stuff. But if there was, then asking for it would undoubtedly verify that it existed even with a simple 'access restricted'.

“Oh my, well this is awkward. I have been programmed to oversee the final resting place of High Queen Hania, the Maker was very specific. I must refrain from revealing anything without the express approval of the Maker,” the droid replied in a chipper but apologetic tone.

“Is there anything else I can assist you with, sentient being?”

"Do you recognize this?" she said, unclipping the lightsaber at her side and holding it up. "The maker is dead. I am your master now."

“Not the Maker, oh I knew that woman was up to no good and perhaps I should have realized when she stabbed him in the back he was dead. Oh the humanity. If I was programmed to mourn, I would be in tears,” R5-T8 replies.

“But, as sentient beings say, the king is dead, long live the queen? What tomb shall I maintain for the next thousand years?”

Oh for fuck's sake...

"I don't need you to maintain any tombs. I need you to give me all your data. Which you can give to me now that I'm your master."

“Of course,” the droid says.

The vocabulator starts spitting out a never ending series of 1’s and 0’s.

"Ugh no," she facepalmed, "stop. STOP."

Assuming it did, she'd clarify. "Just start with... describing the contents of the classified data. As few words as possible."

R5-T8 stops and then says, “I do not have any classified data as ear marked by the late departed Maker. I was created to watch the tomb, I do have a number of love poems, ballads, and a comprehensive history of the life of High Queen Hania.”

“Roses are red,
Korriban is red,
You are also red,
Get in my bed?”

The droid bows and says, “That one was apparently the Maker’s favorite.”
