The Dark Academy on Korriban

“Korriban is full of surprises,” Spindral says with a dark chuckle.

"No kidding," she allowed herself a dry chuckle.

"So... you know why I'm here... but what brought you out here to the Valley today?"

“I have nowhere else to go. I think one day I may settle down in a tomb, live a simple life but today the world calls to me. I go where she needs me,” he says looking around.

"You don't strike me like the type of guy to get yourself a tomb," she smirked. "... How did you learn to listen to Korriban?"

“I was dying.”

“I traveled into the wastes to die, this seemed as good a place as any, and I had lived a full life. My throat was parched, my skin cracked and I lay in the sand dying. I figured I would be worm food soon enough, the sun was cooking me… I decided to listen. To simply stop being and just exist,” Spindral says as he puts more fuel on the fire.

“I learned to listen and found a reason to keep living. I was never much of a good Sith, the games never appealed to me.”

"Makes sense, I guess." Some of the games didn't appeal to her either.

"And after that, you've been out here, and sometimes being a source of wisdom to students like myself who are foolhardy enough to wander out here? Or did you try to return to the old life?"

“They call me mad, living out here but I see them as the mad ones living as they do. I don’t always guide students sometimes I kill them,” he says honestly.

“Korriban is a dark world, I have learned to emulate its beauty.”

That he sometimes killed students didn't surprise her. It was the way of life, after all.

"And is Korriban in a bad mood today, like she was yesterday?"

“Tonight she is calm, but she is changeable like the wind, her moods swing wildly. The Force is in motion, the dark side swells. Maybe it’s you.” He says with a shrug.

"Me? That seems a bit... far-fetched, no?"

"Is it?" he says with a shrug.

"We all have our part to play in this galaxy, some small... some not so small. And others get to be pawns for even greater powers."

Pawn... yay...

"And this is your part? To speak with Korriban?"

“For now, perhaps that will change… no one is thing for ever. No one is one thing even in the moment. Some of us are father and son, killer and victim… Sith and slave. We only think of ourselves as one thing when we really we are so much more,” Spindral says with a blackened smile.

She considered his words in silence for a while. Meeting Spindral and listening to his words, which some probably dismissed as mad ramblings, wasn't something she had expected, but she had learned more... as well as started to consider her position differently.

"You've given me much to think about, Spindral, and for that... thank you. It wasn't what I expected to find out here today, but it was probably for the better that way that Korriban decided it so."

“You walk a hard path, Shaisha,” the old man says with a nod.

“May the Force make you strong.”

"We all walk hard paths," she nodded. "Thanks."

She held up a bottle of water from her utility belt. "Not sure if you need this, but it's yours if you want."

“Water is precious out here, the Sith way would be to keep yours.”

The bottle floats to his hand smoothly. He says, “You have my thanks, all the same.”

"You have provided answers. I believe in rewarding good actions." She knew Sylvain and the Minister would have approved of such a way of thinking.

"Until we meet again, hermit." Pulling her hood back into place, she prepared to leave. It was time to return back.
